We stopped in here a few times for a few things we needed on our trip and even once for a snack. I am a huge lover of smoked meats and cheese, so when we saw that we could get their famous smoked sausage on a roll for £2 and an ice cream sundae for £1 we were all about it and quite happy for it. One thing I miss living in the UK are smoked meats and sausages. Proper smoked meats and sausages. This really hit the spot. I was really tempted to buy stuff to bring back for my home in Glasgow, but figured it would be a pain to drag everything back when I could just get stuff once I got home if I wanted. Instead, I bought a really cool green ink pen for uni, some stroop waffles for the boyfriend and some candles for a birthday we were celebrating while in Amsterdam! It even got to a point that HEMA became a fashion icon, with Dutch celebrities starting to wear basic t-shirts with nothing but the red HEMA line on it.. While living abroad, the HEMA is definitely absent in the German streets..How can people live without it??!! Im sure the Dutch cant... They only had a small selection of the high socks and not the right size, but settled for a pair of sandals for 1.3€ - what a deal. My husband bought me a coat for Christmas that didn't fit and they told him if I needed to I can take it back for store credit. I browsed and found nothing so I decided to get house stuff instead. Brought it to customer service and was told I could only get store credit for the brand name of the coat that was bought. I seriously never heard of such a thing but fine. I went back and just picked a few things and the one of the pants I bought were incorrectly marked so it was more than my credit. I said well just take them off and give me the remaining in store credit. She said she couldn't do that but still took the pants off leaving the store with a gain of 11 euros. I said I'm not giving you the 11 euros so please put the pants back on and I'll pay the increase. She took my money and not so nicely gave me me my change and walked away.

Cotton & lycra blend tops----long sleeve, tank, short sleeve, hip length, & mid thigh---in all colors, neutrals, cerulean blue & black-- about $12-$14. Who doesn't need these? Fold up "down jacket" that was $39, (I got it on a special for $15). Faux leather tote, $29. Well fitting bras, $13. I found several pair of earrings on special $1.00. Faux leather passport/wallet-$12. I must add that everything has been washed & is of superior quality & hasn't shrunk. The tote & wallet are in still perfect condition, after months of use. ($$'s rounded off from euros) Kids clothes were amazingly priced compared to the States & if I had a larger suitcase I would have bought for my grand-daughter. Styles that were so much nicer & well made for a fraction of the cost at the Gap or Old Navy. Oh & check out their make-up dept. Super good quality, great selection & all for cheap prices. It is a high-end department store chain, with the same ownership as Selfridge and Co in the UK, the stores do appear to be very similar to what I'm used to with Selfridge and Co back home, especially in terms of the appearance of the exterior. The main difference for me is the absence of a Food Hall (This particular location does have a Cafe though). The upmarket prices and vibes remain in most areas of the store, I do find some of the store's clothing sections to have vibes most similar to a market, rather than an upmarket department store though. The staff are very friendly and offer good service, with good product knowledge to explain beauty and fragrance products in detail, with benefits when appropriate. It is over multiple levels, with a decent number of escalators/lifts, and toilet facilities. Easily accessible from Amsterdam by train or bus...there is everything here from Kiosks, restaurants, bars and even a Nespresso store! Of course there is an Albert Heijn as well. I actually come here from Amsterdam to do some shopping sometimes. Just a quick 12 minute train ride....lots of fun vibes to be in an airport PRE-security. Another big plus are free bathrooms. Access to 12 or more train platforms underground so you can go anywhere in The Netherlands from here. Usually the first thing you see when leaving the airport and arriving to Amsterdam.
