We had made an appointment for 5 to paint and you would think she would appreciate the business but she wanted to make sure you knew you had to leave in two hours if you were done or not. She continued to interrupt our painting with answers to questions about her business no one had asked, which set a very awkward tone. I would have paid an additional $25 for her to stay away from the table so we could have enjoyed our outing with our family and she not be so rude to us! Classes are taught by the excellent Mark Gucciardi, a former teacher at the Florence Art Academy, teaching in the Florence tradition. He has a fabulous eye and never runs out of suggestions and techniques, yet he remains kind and encouraging. At first I wondered if this training would be a good idea, as I've always enjoyed making art that does not look classical. But what I've found is that my eye is getting better and that what I am learning here is strengthening my more abstract work. I also love that the artists taking the class are focused and dedicated, another source of inspiration. Most of them work full time, so the fact that they are making time for this activity shows a degree of commitment that is energizing to be around. Pascale Ropert runs the school with passion and intelligence.

He explained to a friend, hosting an event at the Arts Factory that parking at the JCSU was entirely open/free for overflow, which the host passed along to the attendees. We have emails and screenshots of this. After their lot was full and cars were parked at the JCSU, at least two cars were towed for a total cost of $600. Talking with him after, the individual running the Arts Factory was on our side and provided the property management company to argue this case with. Once they wouldn't help, he decided it was not longer their fault but ours for listening to his instructions, washing his hands of this problem.
