I find that some of the deep conditioning products intended for Black hair really do the trick. I guess if you use a relaxer you need the best conditioner around. The man at Chudy's was extremely helpful and asked my loads of questions before showing me loads of conditioners and explaining the best bits about each. The prices here are mid range and the Nexus products they sell are quite expensive (up to 15 for a large bottle). Some of the Black hair products are less expensive and a good conditioner will run you no more than 7 pounds. This shop also sells quite a large selection of wigs and fake hair pieces. If my conditioner doesn't do the job..who knows?

The shop is massive and shiny and everything looks new and wonderful. As well as wigs, both synthetic and human hair, they have extensions a plenty and many other products like hair dyes, pomades, scarves, shampoos and whole shelf of treatment oils which are as little as a couple of quid for a pretty big bottle. After scouting out several salons/barber shops in Oxford, I walked into Regina's Hair Salon. The salon itself is not fancy, but it has everything necessary to serve its customers. I decided to take a chance with a young gentleman by the name of Victor who regularly helps out at the salon. (His mother runs the place). Verdict: Victor was very professional. He listened to my requests and took painstaking care in shaving my head and beard. He was also meticulous, took my feedback seriously, and ended up giving me a very polished look that I was quite happy with. I returned to him a month later - twice in one week. Each time, I came away satisfied and relieved to have found this salon. I don't live in Oxford let alone in the UK, but I intend to get my hair cut here whenever I have a business trip to make to England.

I go to Juliet's for crazy colour hair dye. Apart from on the Soho road you won't find it cheaper. My hairdresser has tried to stock it in her salon and can't get it in as cheap as Juliet's. We then noticed a sign saying 'Wig Boutique Downstairs' but when we enquired we were told flat out that we couldn't go down there; Not even so much as an excuse. Man, these guys really want to sell wigs! My friend then enquired about the price of a wig in human hair. The assistant pointed to some hair extensions instead of wigs because he wasn't listening to her even though I'm pretty sure we were the only 2 customers in the shop. They do have about 50 wigs in store. But if you are a bit shy to ask for help then don't bother coming here as this particular man wasn't the most approachable or helpful.

However fortunately I was not the customer on the occasion I visited, much to my relief. Accompanying my friend who does meet the criteria for Afro-hair I suppose, I was bemused by the amount of stuff that you can purchase for your hair, seeing as the whole shop is essentially devoted to one's mane. Whether it be the expectable shampoos and conditioners with exotic fruit and plant extracts that promise to give your hair the typically sought after qualities of volume, shine, bounce and so on. They have wigs too, having heard my friend ordeals with her sometimes quite unmanageable hair, I could empathise that maybe a wig could come in handy now and then when your hair wouldn't submit to going into the style you want it to. I left feeling grateful that I didn't need to tend to my hair as much as some of the customers of Bellas did.
