Selection is fine. Some worker by the self checkout told us that we could not use it because it was for "about 15 items". This made no sense as we had 17 items in the cart with 3 of those items being mangoes and there were multiple self checkout kiosks open and no one in line behind us. I think he was new and/or could not count. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would! Tried to do my first online order, told me if I used a code I could get $30 off. Proceeded to checkout, no $30 off. Called helpline, no help at all! Canceled order, told me it would take up to 7 days to get my $76 back. Went to store to see if I could rectify the situation, also no help whatsoever. Just tried to send Acme Markets a comment about a product they have apparently??? discontinued. Would not let me send feedback and when I tried to use their Chatbot, it was NO help at all. Now they have filled the coffee aisle with as many Starbucks item as possible which Means the other coffees have also been discontinued. What is going on??? read more

Been clipping Acme digital coupons for several years. today, 2/24/24, unable to find or download a coupon for sliced deli meat. it is advertised in their weekly circular but not on the Acme For U webpage. Local store could not help. Talked with Ree Ree at the 1-877-276-9637 number i was given. She was well meaning but clueless and unable to help. Strangely, there are very limited ways to contact Acme on issues like this. Email is not available but snail mail is if you want to go that route. i did not. Will just shop elsewhere. read more

So overpriced!!! Fruits are often close to spoilage. I come here just if I need a thing or two but never do my big grocery shopping here.

Their Drive up and go service is awesome. You just drive right up and they will put all of your bags in your trunk - you don't even have to get out of the car. And the price is about the same as if you went shopping in the store. Highly recommend read more

I hate all ACME locations but I hate this one slightly less than the one east of town. I had used to be a loyal Pathmark customer, and had been a huge fan of that store, and I saw it slowly decline into ruin after ACME bought it out. I don't understand the appeal of ACME. The produce section is large, but it's a bunch of too-big, overpriced, waxy produce that is the same garbage you can pick up in any mainstream supermarket anywhere across the U.S. The store as a whole is large, but there are precious few things I actually want to buy here at the prices. Across the board, prices are too high. The seafood section in this store is particularly bad. They have very few of the sorts of things I want to eat, and the prices are too high. There are a few random products I buy in this store. It's the only store in the Newark area where I've seen Bon Ami cleaner for sale, and I appreciate that they stock that and I drop in every now and then to restock that when I run out. They have a few canned seafood products that are good, at reasonable prices, that other stores don't sell. Occasionally there are sales on various nonperishable products which can make them a good buy, but the default prices are too high. For my weekly shopping I go to either ALDI (which has much lower prices, higher quality, at the cost of a smaller selection and unpredictable stock) and the Farmer's Market (which has rock-bottom prices, especially on produce, and a huge selection, and is especially good for ethnic foods). If you are considering going to ACME and haven't yet checked out these other stores, please do so. They're a bit farther of a drive from Newark, but I think it's worth it. I'm frankly waiting for all these mainstream supermarket chains like ACME to go out of business and be replaced by stuff run more like ALDI and the Farmer's market. That'll be the day! read more

If you're looking for high prices and horrible customer service look no further. There are 2 nice people that work there, and one of the rude managers actually waited until they were waiting on me to criticize them, instead of letting them do a good job and providingactual customerservice. Aside from the 2 nice people, everyone else makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by ringing you up. No hello. No thank you. I actually had to initiate the conversation and say thank you to the cashier...they said YUP! This place is right around the corner and I only go in when I'm desperate. Rude! read more

I forgot to collect the $20 cash back I requested after bagging my groceries in the self checkout area. The checkout manager tracked me down as I was leaving the store and handed the $20 to me. How awesome is that? I'm sure she's not at the top end of the pay scale and would have been happy to collect a "tip". Sucn a pleasure to experience this act of kindness and honesty in such a place as a grocery store. BTW - it's a decent place to shop- clean and well stocked. Literally the worst grocery store I've ever been to. I'm visiting my daughter at University of Delaware and needed to get groceries. The customer service folk were gathered together on their cell phones, mean and useless!! They couldn't help on two separate occasions. One I asked for dill and celery. Grocery store staples!! They didn't help continued they're chatter and left me fending for myself!! How does a grocery store not have either!! The second time I approached I asked for them (again gathered socializing) to help explain my receipt. They were careless and completely useless!! Pharmacy at College Square in Newark. The pharmacist had her mask under her chin the whole time. I said something as respectfully as I could and she just completely ignored me. Several attempts. I thought maybe she was deaf, but she is not. Just as rude and careless as can be. Her name was Felicia or Felicity. Something like that. Got really nasty with me when she handed me my script. Had an accent from West Africa, if I'm not mistaken. Will never go back to the whole store. Forget it. read more

This is our closest grocery store so we come here for little things every now and then that we forgot to buy or ran out of. The store is always clean and the associates are very nice and helpful. Their clearance section is awesome!! It is in the back of the store next to the dairy section and we always check it out when we go and have found some amazing deals! read more

Very disappointed in how overpriced this place is. They want $12 for 8 chicken thighs?? I pay $5 at Walmart!! We made a huge mistake shopping here. We ended up spending 40% more than we would have at Walmart for the same groceries. We even shopped with their ad to find all the deals we could. Will not be back. read more

My local grocery store and since the bankruptcy of A&P that closed the local SuperFresh and converted the local Pathmark into another Acme, prices have gone up noticeably. They're pretty much the only grocery game in town and they know it. Meanwhile, service quality continues to decline--I waited for over 5 minutes at the fish/butcher counter and never did get waited on. Actually went to the customer service desk to point out that there were no hand baskets at either entrance (this has been the case more often than not lately) and was told that "college students have been stealing them." No offer to make it right and I was left to hop from register to register to find a discarded basket to myself. When I asked the customer service person if they had new ones on order, I got a vacant look and a mumbled "I dunno". I'm not sure what other alternatives there are out there, but I think it's time I start looking. read more

I went to acme the other day bc there was a themed work function that I had to go to and in order to get my costume right I had to relax my hair. Since I get off around 10 the Walgreens in the shopping center is usually closed so I made a last minute trip to acme. Like every other supermarket Acme has a hair care aisle, the only difference is there is not one single solitary ethnic hair care product. I understand it's not a beauty supply store and I also understand that most supermarkets do not have a large selection of ethnic hair products. However, it's unbelievable that I couldn't find ONE hair relaxer, not even a just for me perm or even the VERY popular carols daughter or "mixed chicks" hair products. This acme clearly hasn't realized that they're in a diverse community and should probably carry some diverse hair products like most of their other competitors. I won't be coming back until they have something else to offer other than over priced groceries. read more

This is by far the worst grocery store I have ever had the misfortune to enter. Their prices are sky-high - as high as CVS or 7-11 or other non-grocery stores. This isn't this particular store's fault - prices are set elsewhere, so I won't shop at any Acme. They do, on occasion, have sales. Right now, for example, plastic tubs of Betty Crocker frosting are $1. But everyday prices are ridiculous. Campbells Chunky soups, $2.99? Sargento shredded cheese, $3.99? 5# red potatoes, $4.99? And meats! I saw a package of chicken breasts, $6.99 per pound! Then they have a sale and want you to buy a huge quantity. Soda, 4 12-packs $11, but $6 for one. Sorry, I don't need 48 cans of soda today! As for this store, all I can say to people who love it, is to get out more. This is a crummy little store that is way past needing updated. But, this isn't just a local problem - all the grocery stores in Newark are like this, especially along route 4. (One exception on 896). Try the Wegmans in Concordville or Giant in Eden Square to see what a real, large, clean, modern grocery store should be like. read more
