This company doesn't value customers at all. When they visited my townhouse for a fire inspection…read morethey wore shoes despite being told no shoes are normally worn in the house. I got a disrespectful response which dismissed me. They didn't even bother with booties. When I called to replace a malfunctioning fire alarm, the second service rep wore booties. He asked me to sign a blank service form and didn't mention they were going to charge me for this service. They charged me $200+ for urgent service an $100 for the fire alarm. All charges I wasn't informed about until my strata told me about it. Very non transparent and sneaky. Here's the kicker. When I called to inquire about their warranty, they told me they only honor the fire alarms for 1 year including malfunctions. My fire alarm wasn't meant to be replaced until 2029. I've seen better warranty buying fire alarms from cost co. If there was ever a check list of losing my trust as a customer, this company ticked them all. Hire at your own risk.

Have been using Fairlane exclusively for 30 plus years on Vancouver buildings. always on time,…read morethorough complete inspection and no issues. Second generation company so they are around for a long time. Gord Gooch Vancouver

We worked with Fairlane at our building for 20 years. When I took over being the strata manager, I…read morestarted digging a little deeper into their inspections. They seemed okay but we noticed, for one, that fire extinguishers were deemed 'expired' and in need of replacement, when upon closer inspection, we could see that they weren't. Could be a mistake? Another time they reported some ball bearing in need of replacement in the mechanical room. I literally overheard the two guys arguing about who's fault it was and how to handle it and I walked in on them. They said they had been talking about another job but whether it was our building or another building, it seemed odd. We got that fixed but it took months. So eventually, after several other small incidents mounted, nothing major, I switched companies to a smaller company who came in and walked me through the inspection in a very transparent and educational way. I immediately could see the difference and the report was thorough and easy to follow. We recently had an urgent issue come up with one of our air compressed lines and despite best intentions, our new smaller Fire Safety Company didn't have a tech available to help asap. So I called Fairlane back. They at least knew the building and I needed their help. After some back and forth, they finally came back to me and said they could not help since we had terminated their service. Since they had not done the last inspection, whether the issue had to do with anything that was inspected or not, they would not come out for this issue. They said it's an industry-wide protocol not to help with urgent issues like this, if the building was inspected by another company. I called my smaller company who couldn't believe it. Apparently it's standard for other companies to jump in when another company can't make it. I called another company, BarTec, and they said they had never heard of such a policy and would be happy to help right away. Even though this could have been an opportunity for Fairlane to win our business back, it instead just confirmed we had made the right decision to leave.

The technician was here for about 15 minutes, plugged in the replacement. 1st line on the bill says "2 units (for 1 technician) @ $150. = $300.00. ALSO there was a "Vehicle Service Charge" for an additional $80.00. When asked why this is so high for 15 minutes the Company responded "The Labor charge for our calls are a minimum of 2 hours. We do not roll a truck for under $300.00 labour cost. So I assume the next client they went to on that same day got the same exorbitant type of billing. This Company is also not accredited by the BBB in Vancouver. Don't know why our Strata uses them when complaints are so high. It's a horrible situation to be placed in. I later found that another Company can replace these smoke alarms and we don't have to use these people so I think I will explain this to the other 72 2-bedroom suites in our building. No wonder BBB doesn't endorse this company!!!
