It is a distinctive Grade B listed Georgian house which offers luxury accommodation and wonderful food. We had the blue room - a four poster bed and a large bathroom with a bath on legs! The personal touches in the room include: a welcoming decanter of sherry, fresh fruit, bathrobes as well as a television, direct-dial telephone and a refreshment tray. There is also a lounge for resident's use. On arrival, we were bought tea and shortbread. The dining room is beautiful and has a large piano in it. Would HIGHLY recommend. Slightly more pricey than other B&B's, @ £33pp, but well worth the money.

A lovely walk in both summer or winter…read more I've been here a few times either as a break between Ullapool and Inverness or for a nice walk out. The falls are not far from the car park which also includes toilets. The walk is fairly easy and is easy to follow. As with most Scottish trails you need to watch out for tree roots and loose chipping etc. There is a viewing platform as well as the bridge over the falls. You can walk a little while on the other side of the bridge but not too far. IMPORTANT - bridge is slipping when wet or cold, please use caution when crossing bridge.

Our hosts Phil and Sarina welcomed us with tea and a great meal tailored to our tastes. The rooms were very comfy and substantial. Great beds, plenty of hot water and a teapot with coffee and tea in the room made for a really pleasant stay. We plan to seek out the Richmond/Crystal House next year when we visit the UK again!

Because we hadn't had a meal since breakfast, we decided to eat early at 5:30. Absolutely no one else in the massive dining room. Reservation required...? Apparently a bus load of people we're delayed. It was built in 1911 and had charm but could use a wee bit of TLC.

The breakfast was edible, but the dinner was like living hell. The owner dragged customers onto the stage and force them to sing Auld Lang Syne, while they just wanted to eat their mediocre food cooked by an elementary school teacher without interruption. There's no WiFi above 2nd floor, hot water supply was limited, water leaks everywhere, and sofas smelled like cats had died in the cushion. Plural cats. Here's a medal shelf in the bathroom.

Good food at night served in the bar by very friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help. Full Scottish breakfast lacking the haggis and black pudding you may hope for. Strathpeffer is very relaxing, and the Strathpeffer hotel is perfectly adequate for a short stay. I'll stay here again.
