Do not stay here if you want peace and quiet. It's a hotel built like an atrium so all the rooms doors are facing the center of the lobby. The entire hotel only has 2 levels of rooms so you can't avoid the noise. People are downstairs in the lobby/small bar area talking loudly until past 2 AM. Then around 6 the breakfast noises start. Clanging of dishes. You can clearly hear what people are talking about while you are laying in bed trying to sleep.
The lobby area should really be closed by 10 pm or even midnight. I attended the breakfast buffet on the first day 35 minutes before it ended. They did not refill items at that point. No fruit. Cold eggs. 20 euros. Breakfast ended at 10:00 and while I finished my tea at 10:09 they informed myself and a couple at another table that breakfast was over and could we please leave. German hospitality ... I guess . I paid for breakfast that day and they missed out on my $20 a day for the rest of the week as I made sure to eat breakfast elsewhere. I spend 1-2 weeks in Bochum every other month as I have close family that lives there. I switch to various hotels depending on what's booked ( starlight express and soccer stadium games often book up hotels in Bochum). This one is by far on the bottom of my list.
The pros are Free Parking. Feels safe ( though I wish the room had a deadbolt or secondary lock from the inside)
Overall the staff was very nice. read more
