I have always known that this credit union existed in Lakewood, but never thought to join and open…read morean account with them until a couple of weeks ago. I decided to go there in person to open my account, as opposed to opening an account online. I'm glad I did, as the Relationship Manager I dealt with, Christian Velasco, provided friendly and attentive service, which gave me a very favorable first impression of this credit union. Christian took all of my information to create my new account, along with giving him my opening deposit. Before I left, he gave me some documentation with my new account information such as my member number and account numbers for the savings and checking accounts. While I was there, I placed an order for an initial supply of checks, which was free. :-) I received the debit card and checks less than two weeks later. The one thing about this particular branch that I found a little frustrating was getting through the security doors, both entering and exiting. There is an outside door and then you have to go through another security door to get inside the main lobby. At first, I struggled to get through the second security door and I was afraid I might get trapped in that small space between the outer and inner doors. :-O But, I managed to get through them, both coming and going, thank goodness. If you're in the area and want to open an account with this credit union, be sure to ask for Christian Velasco. He'll treat you very well! :-)

My 86-year-old mother has been a member of SchoolsFirst since 2011 and each time she has visited this branch, all the staff have been very kind and accommodating. She has had to replace her debit card a few times and her original checking account was compromised, so they were able to help her cancel the old account and set up a new one with a new account number. The latest visit was with Bolivar, one of the credit union onsite bankers. My mother and I came to visit because her online banking account somehow got hacked and it reduced the functionality. Bolivar said the online account somehow had view only status so it was changed back to be fully functional again. He also suggested that the user name and password be changed, so we were able to get that done as well, using the credit union's computer. We had a very productive visit, and since my mother has some mobility issues, Bolivar was kind enough to help her walk to the front door before we left. Talk about going above and beyond! We will always have SchoolsFirst as our primary financial institution because we get 5-star service with every visit. Once again, if you qualify for membership, RUN don't walk, to the nearest branch and open an account.

I received a cashier's check from the bank for the remaining balance in my account, which was slightly over a thousand dollars. The young woman at the counter manually verified the check, processed it through a machine, and claimed to have contacted the bank for verification. After a 20-minute wait, she was seated, staring at the check. As a Black man, I am conscious of the biases associated with my skin color, so I strive to be exceptionally understanding. However, after waiting for 20 minutes without any resolution, I requested the check back, to which the lady responded with an attitude, saying, "here." There was no apology or indication of concern for the prolonged wait. Despite my frustration, I proceeded across the street and cashed the check at the bank where I had closed my account. I advise against visiting this place, as their revenue appears to stem from the exorbitantly priced electronic products they allow customers to finance. Save your time and seek alternatives elsewhere.

Flawless interior and just a few minor flaws outside. Literally looks like a new car and drives like one. At a time when the used car market is way over price this was like a new car for $8,900. She immediately expressed her sympathy, saying, "I'm sorry for your loss," and went above and beyond to help. Michelle even closed her lane so she could focus on gathering the documents I needed. She asked me to take a seat while she prepared everything, and about 10 minutes later she called me back to the window with all the necessary paperwork ready.
