When I finally got a response, I told them I'd already deposited with another company and I'd told them that they should have responded sooner. I then got an odd email back saying something about how it was Mother's Day, and that it was someone's (whom I didn't know) birthday, and that's why they couldn't respond. I'm not sure why they thought I would care, or why these would be legitimate reasons why a business couldn't respond to an inquiry, but that made it go from a 3 stars to a 1 star for me.

Quality of paving appears to be decent. Communication with the company is terrible. The job began…read moreby Maple Leaf, unannounced, leaving machinery in our driveway, assuming we would not need the space for several days. We did not even know they were planning to start until coming home to equipment in our driveway. Then, equipment broke down on first day of actual work, rendering our drive blocked for 2 days. This after no-showing the initial start date. The project manager was MIA for over a week without any communication, just unreachable. They eliminated part of the job without discussion, which was the right decision but did not reduce price and was not even a conversation. The project manager offered free sealing to accommodate for the inconveniences and lack of communication. Once the job was complete, he insisted they could only be paid cash/Venmo, despite having my paid-in-full check in hand. He stated his bank was unable to process a deposit due to another large deposit from a separate job. It made no sense, but I wanted to be kind. After being paid in full via Venmo, he requested I recall the payment to avoid fees. After several weeks of back and forth, awaiting my refund from Venmo, I paid him cash. He assured me the company would be in touch to schedule promised sealing. There was no call. I reached out, attempting to schedule the sealing. They completely ghosted me, only responding when threats of contacting BBB were made. They never sealed the drive. The process began well (seemed trustworthy), but ended with a feeling of having been ripped off and repeatedly lied to.

Two months later, after rescheduling 5 times for many reasons, the driveway patch was done yesterday. They resealed the driveway for free for our inconvenience. I paid $9500 for all work done. We will now be expanding on custom built stone stairs leading to our backyard and planting around our home now that we experienced his attention to detail and creative solutions. Jon communicated very well before and during the project. We never had a doubt as Jon set clear expectations and then delivered without question. The value received far outweighs the cost of the work. His quote was in line with other quotes we received, ultimately he won the bid and we could not be more pleased with the partnership. His teams was professional, and mindful of our home and of our neighbors. They worked expediently and amazingly clean for what is traditionally a dirty job. Our site was a difficult location to design and bring equipment in and out, this too was not a challenge for Jon as decades of experience made this routine. I will "soon" have Jon perform additional design work and will recommend him to family, friends and anyone looking for a creative, experienced and thoughtful professional for your landscaping needs.
