Got my 5.7L LS1 engine machined here back in 2017-2018. Fast forward 7-8 years later and either my oil pump starting going out or bad bearings idk. All I know is that I gradually lost all oil pressure and heard insane knocking noises. Not exactly the thing I wanted to happen on a rebuilt and upgraded engine that is only 7-8 years old since the last rebuild/machining. Definitely too soon for something like this to happen. She wasn't even over 100K miles yet (maybe around 80-90k?). On top of that, I never raced her let alone even had work done requiring removal of the oil pan! I was very strict about oil changes and all maintenance. She was my daily driver and racked up a good amount of miles. Still unsure exactly what's causing my problem as I haven't taken her apart yet but at this point, time for another engine (unfortunately)! Very disappointed. read more

WOW JUST WOW. Absolutely the worst machine work i have even seen. They did a pre bore on my block of .060. Then they bored it for the sleave. They bored the sleeve to .030. Leaving a .015 lip at the bottom of the sleeve to the block bore. So the cylinder is .030 on top and .060 on the bottom. The bottom of the sleeve is a half inch above the bottom of the bore. The lip they left will destroy any piston skirt in minutes. The sleeve is not in the block square. There is a huge gap on tye top of the sleeve to the block and flush one the other side. And when they remove the old wrist pins from the rods they destroyed 1 connecting rod. Yes you pressed the pin so hard it scored the rod bore. So I am now out $1080 for the sleeveinstall and deck. $60 to replace a rod. $120 for having the block backed before I took it to them The time and gas for 3 500 mile round trips to their shop. read more

As a lot of the previous post it all started out great. Good service, knowledgeable staff, fair price, etc.. Then I received my LS3 overhead motor, The motor was the first thing to be completed on my 1961 C10 project truck so it sat for awhile (squirting oil in the cylinders and rotating crankshaft now and then) while I did the transmission , rearend, had driveshaft cut to size , all new wiring, steering column, front suspension and disc brakes all around. This took me just shy of a couple years . I got exactly 420 miles on it before the motor went out. I was told that to much time had passed for any warranty but if I pulled it out he (Red) would look at it. After 9 months and every excuse I could hear I picked the motor up in boxes, completely apart and looked like it sat under a lathe full of dirt and metal. My new reputable builder has told me that the fail was a spun main bearing due from either low/no oil or dirt. So the nice price of $3,500 , knowledge staff and family owned has cost me $4,300 more. Do not use this shop for anything! read more

Reading the one star reviews, may I make some suggestions? If it's custom work, esoteric application, or high expectation result beyond the normal machining service professionals in town require, don't assume they can read your mind just because they can run a mill and follow procedures. Machining is a value added service, not designed for end users and you don't sign a TOS cos it's not for the novice. If you don't understand what you are paying for, ask questions. Buying value added service is a two way street, it's not a part from O'reillys. read more

I have a GTO spare tire ( donut) that I obtain for my modified vehicle, the wheel did not fit the hub so it needed to be machined 2.86 more in the diameter of the center hole, I brought it here and for a very low price they machined it to the right size and now it fits my application perfect! I was very disappointed by Accurate- I was really hoping for a much better experience. I apologize to Red if he felt I was "playing games" because I kept my old shims. I didn't want him to use the old shims and made that clear. I could have gone about saying that better in hindsight. But why would I want to "play games" I think ego gets in the way here clearly because what is my end game!? To have a negative experience!? I was hoping his shop would do as I requested and he promised. And not call me wondering "if something was missing" that would be the shims we talked about he previously knew so much about!!! But when the person working on the head admits "they have never shimmed a single motorcycle head ever." And the cylinder head expert doesn't know "why and if the valves where recessed before he did the valve job." Clearly their is a lack of experience with these types of heads. And I'm left in shock hearing this. Look I'm gonna stop right there and just say I expected more. And at no point did I keep my shims so I could have this negative experience. I thought they knew what they where doing. And I should have went with my gut and sent the head to a motocross machine shop. Whew I also wouldn't have sent my shims. And had no issue. And wish Red would have said "hey man we haven't done a MX heads before". The head also has a gouge in the mating surface that was machined. Oh and the machinist doesn't know the term lifter bores... I'm really beside myself. And flabbergasted. This should be simple cut and dry. Bottom line, If you know how to shim a MX Head you know how it all works and don't need to call me and ask why the valves are recessed and the keepers might come out!? Or say "I'm playing games" when I said I kept my old shims because I didn't want you to use them because they are not the right size. What if I forgot them!? What if I bought the head no shims and brought it to you and I didn't know... If you know what your doing with this head it makes no difference. Look If you sent me the same parts I would know it was missing shims and order the correct shims. I don't have a machine shop to make the cuts or clean the head the same way a machine shop can so that's why I dropped it to you and ask "do you know how to shim the head". It's all real simple. Well $175 waisted. And now my head has a worse gouge in the mating surface. Haven't had a chance to check anything else until my 3 year old gets better from being sick. I hope I don't find anymore issues. Red you could have just told me you don't know MX heads and sent me packing. Your shop didn't even bolt the cap down and check if the cam journals are working properly. He literally said he used a Brillo pad on the journals!?!?!? You have a machine shop!!! I have Brillo lads man! Would have saved us both a lot of time and me $175. Come on man!!! I don't need this in my life right now. And if you have an issue call me. Don't wait for me to come in. Again so many opportunities you could have avoided all this. I literally gave you a print out of what I wanted and the manufacture specs so you didn't have to look it up. I'm overcome in frustration and disappointment. I myself worked for Carol Shelby himself when he was alive at the speed way (I'm in the Shelby book of 2007) as one of his top 13 builders during the GT days for years and then becoming a GM service manger. Red is a dying breed I respect and brings back nostalgic memories of setting points on a 1971 Dodge Dart with a match book or adding dual points for performance or running I think it was 1.6 rockers on the intake side and 1.5 on the exhaust side of a 350 Chevy at 8° advanced etc. etc. The owner of action machine taught me that and I spent about two years hanging out with him at action learning some truly old school techniques that are dead now since aluminum heads became the rage many years ago. I still just wish they would have ordered the shims and did as requested. I would have paid the $266 quote and all would be well. But that unfortunately is not the case and I'm still out $175 and now have a damaged head and need to either repair it myself, send it to a MX head shop or attempt to do the repairs myself using hand tools. Worse case I need to buy a new head and parts about $1000. That's why I couldn't idle by and not express my concerns and experience. And just note I hated writing this review. I think Red is a good guy all in all. He even offered my kid a Lilly pop as pissed off as he was lol. He's a good dude. Same for his techs. But the miscommunication and attention to detail along with the blatant disregard for experience on MX heads taken out on me is just a shame as well as the work that was done on the head using Brillo pads and gouges in the head etc. I'm left to deal with and might end up costing me $1000 when it was only to be $266. read more

They do good work for the most part. But I have brought a motor to them and I paid for things that didn't get done. The machinist was suppose to Hon the block. But I got it back in a bag and didn't check till days later and it was never touched. I have had many motors honed and this was not done. My upper oil pan was still covered in oil and RTV. Not cleaned but I paid for it. I also gave them brand new pistons to test fit. Never opened. I get them back and 1 piston had a nice big scratch on it.. right in the center of the piston.. I asked about it and I was told it was already there.... which is clearly a lie.. I didn't argue because it wouldn't really get my anywhere. These guys are very polite and knowledgeable. Just not the shop for me. The owner is always nice. The machinist need to do the work customers pay for. read more

This shop is very dissatisfied and disappointed believe me don't take your stuff there because they don't do the jobs correctly I had to dissassemble my entire engine again just to find out they valve job they were supposed to fix wasn't done correctly it's probably because they don't have the correct machinery or just care about getting stuff done fast and make money but that's wrong because I never come back there lowest shop I really say that very mad too because they don't care about customers and make nice people loose their time and hard working money I had spent about 2000 in original parts for my car all dealer original parts and these people put on a 2 dollar cheap part in my valves not cool really I had low compression and the combustion chamber full of burnt oil maybe because of their cheap part they put on find yourself another shop really guys read more

LONG STORY do NOT use this place. I took 2 yes 2 connecting rods there to get fitted for the wrist pins. over 2 weeks later they came back and i noticed they honed the bushings crooked. I could see this easily with my 50 year old eyes!! when i put them on a flat plate they were an eight inch off. WOW. would have ruined my motor. So i went back and tried to show the machinist the problem and he would not even look or pay attention to what I was saying. (terrible). Then i called Red and told him the story and he said he would take care of it and give me call when they were done. 7 business days later i called him and asked if he got the chance to do them yet. He rudely snapped back and said, "I told you I would call you" WOW i got put to the back of the line after their HUGE screw up. I couldn't even believe someone could be so uneducated in business 101. (if you screw up you fix immediately ) duh. so 7 days later still no call and i had to go pick up my parts and go elsewhere. I cannot say enough bad about this place. The last time he had forgotten to check the heads for bent valves and now will not return my calls. I was referred to him but will NEVER refer anyone to him. EVER !!! First time to the shop to get broken pistons pressed off and new pistons pressed on. Red, who is the owner and who also does most of the precision work as he explained, is very professional, knowledgeable, and was kind enough to show me around the shop as I arrived to pickup my stuff right at closing time.
