Jeff Elder, the owner, told me that day that he would get the inspection scheduled within the next few days. As of today, February 17, 2026, the inspection has not been scheduled. I've contacted Jeff via text and email messages numerous times since then. He has told me almost every time that getting the inspection scheduled was his priority. When I have asked him if the permit was pulled, the conversation stops. I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. This company has a C+ rating with them and so they are not accredited. If you are considering getting a new HVAC system and are considering using Best CO HVAC, I would suggest only paying half of the invoice until you know the permit has been pulled and the system has passed inspection.

Following a quick search on social media, many of our neighbors recommended Emporia. They had a technician out to our house in less than two hours, who quickly diagnosed the problem. Nicholas was simply fantastic! He indicated that he could get the part we needed but couldn't likely come back until the following Monday. I told Nicholas that we were having our 5 month old grandson for the weekend and I was concerned how cold it would be for him. Nicholas thought about it for a moment and said something similare to, "I try to figure out a way to get this done." To do this, I think he had to get it cleared with his boss since it would likely require him to work late. Sure enough, later that afternoon, Nicholas returned and fixed the furnace. We are so impressed with Nicholas and Emporia. I feel very comfortable recommending Emporia to anyone, and if you can get Nicholas - even better. The service was great, the price was fair, and I'm sure they know they could have overcharged me and I was in a position that I would have to pay it. They did not. Thanks guys! I was harassed and threatened by the owner repeatedly and now fear for the safety of my family. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL BE SORRY!!! Update 9/28/19: To make this situation worse this company continues to lie instead of completing the project and repairs. Here are the facts based on the owners comments below: - the pictures I provided on this post were taken less than 24 hours after I was told the job was completed and 2 hours after I received the first voicemail from the owner stating that he was demanding payment in full or he would file a lien on my property. - I requested 5 repairs to be made, they came back and fixed 2 of them and refused to fix the others. - The 2 repairs that were resolved were the dryer vent was placed inside the wall cavity, as it should have been, and they extended combustion air vents so that they would pass inspection. - JM Heating and Air refused to make the following 3 requests: 1) They refused to add a heat duct to the laundry room which was clearly requested at the time time they provided the estimate and included in the written estimate I was provided. At no time did they ever state this was not included until after the work was completed and then I was told they could add it for more money. 2) They refused to attach the exterior vents to the concrete with the appropriate anchors and clean the excessive caulking. 3) They refused to add expansive foam to properly seal around the 4 ducts that exit the house. This would have taken less than 5 minutes and less than $5 in parts. I was told they never do that but would for an additional $50-100. I have received numerous angry voicemails and texts threatening to lien my property. The first was left less than 24 hours after the job was supposedly completed and before I took the pictures on this post. Even though the owner did not physically threaten me or my family, I am still frightened for our safety do to the insanity if this situation. I now get to look over my shoulder every minute of the day and hope that this does not turn into something far worse simply because I hired this company and expected them to do the work they quoted me for and do a decent job.

The cost for checking both furnaces thoroughly, replacing the filters, running carbon monoxide tests, and spending several minutes talking to us about our furnaces was only $134 which included travel time. One of my neighbors recommended Cool Heat, so I gave them a call on Friday afternoon around 3:30PM, thinking I'd get a call back next week. He was wrapping up another service call in the area, so came right over in about 30 minutes. He was GREAT! Our HVAC was frozen up with gunk and he cleaned it all up. He did confirm our suspicions about our ducting system - woefully under trunked (old 4" ducts) with lots of breaks. He gave us a reasonable price for upgrading, but recommended that we don't need to do it now. So, we'll now be able to save the money for that project (that we suspected we should have done 4 years ago when we installed our new units). Thankfully, he confirmed that our actual equipment was great and that there is no need to replace those. (My fear was always that someone would come in and recommend a whole new system). Best $125 ever spent - an hour on site to fix us up! We will definitely be hiring Cool Heat to come back to upgrade our ducting later this year! As a bonus, he also services Rinnai water heaters - because we live in Englewood (hard water), we need to get it serviced. I've gotten outrageous quotes for that in the past - his quote is substantially lower than everyone else, so I'll have him to that, too.
