Three years after the fact, it has come to light by the SSA that this tax guy swapped social security numbers between my husband and me. My husband had my SSN on all of the paperwork and vice versa. This caused me to not have an income for that year, as far as SSA was concerned. We had to go through the whole filling out the SSA795 forms to correct his mistake. I will say the ONLY reason we used him was for a very specific tax situation that put me out of my depth. Never again.

My theory was very true once Advantax opened my eyes to many things I'd been doing wrong. Tom Benson is who I deal with at Advantax and he has been nothing but awesome. I met him at a networking group a few years ago. Unlike most tax guys I've met, Tom is very jolly and has a laugh that fills up six rooms. A sense of humor is soooooo appreciated when dealing with something as stressful as taxes. He's good at dumbing things down for the tax-jargon illiterate like myself. He's also always been very helpful and available. Tom always offers knowledgeable advice on things that you can do to make your business run at it's best tax-wise. I'd be lost without him. Check him out if you're on the lookout for a tax guy. I'm sure he'd be happy to meet you!

After researching online, I reached out to GavTax for CPA advise on how to maximize tax benefits. Sonia at GavTax immediately followed up with me. We had a free initial call to see if their services could help. After that, we scheduled a 1 hour consultation. Sonia was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process. I sent her a list of questions the day before our consultation which Sonia then used to create a powerpoint presentation which answered in detail everyone one of my questions and she addressed things I didn't even think about. Additionally, Sonia provided recommendations and connected me with firms that specialize in creating an LLC and completing a Cost Segregation Study plus bonus depreciation for additional tax benefits. Throughout the process Sonia communicated clear expectations and cost estimates for their services. I plan to also use GavTax to file my 2026 tax return. I highly recommend Sonia and GaxTax for tax help!.

But as life rapidly progressed in the last 6 years, I have added a spouse, 2 kids, an income rental property, an "oopsie, I forgot to report" turned IRS Audit, all which were handled by Yvonne (who I was informed today has reduced to being seasonal staff member). She handled everything with ease and professionalism. Guided us through the Audit battle with the IRS and steered the ship back on course. Today I want to rave about Joe Webb, Senior Tax Professional. I had an investment opportunity arise in which I wanted to know the tax implications it would have next year. Joe was not only very thorough in his answers, but was able to clearly and knowledgeably "dumb down" the complicated situation for me to feel confident in moving forward with a decision. Not only did he just give general advice, but he took the time to open up my client folder and tell me specifically what to look out for and some potential strategies.
