I continued searching, and after referrals from friends led nowhere, a Google search brought me to Jim. He had just reopened his practice, so there were only a few Google reviews at the time--but they were all five stars. I then researched Jim's CPA background in California, where his reviews were also consistently excellent. After our first conversation, I felt immediately at ease. Jim explained that he had moved to Prescott to retire, but after finding retirement a bit too quiet, he decided to reopen his practice. Fortunately for us, we found him before he stopped taking new clients again. Our first two tax years working with Jim were straightforward, but the coming year will be far more complex. A home we originally intended to live in is now a rental, and the stress of understanding how to properly structure and manage that situation was significant. Jim carefully walked us through multiple options, patiently explained the implications of each, and helped us choose the best path forward. So far all our interactions have been remote (which I like), but since she's local there's the option of meeting face to face should the need arise. I find Chantal to be professional, prompt, and attends appointments on time. She answers questions promptly, and even sends reminders when we had an outstanding action. I like that she uses the TaxDome portal for our exchanges: sending documents back and forth, and chat messages for Q&A. For me, this is much more convenient than having to drive to someone's office, and pick up the phone and call every time I have a question.
