Jordan about a week after my car accident, and even in that first meeting he was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and patient with my questions.

There are not a lot of functional medicine doctors with extensive experience in my area. Dr. McCool was one of a very few who happened to be local to me, and I contacted her for a phone consultation. From the first moments of the call, I felt very comfortable. She listened patiently, was empathetic, and very personable. I felt an immediate rapport with her that I did not experience with the other practitioners I spoke with. She took me on as a patient and we have been working together for several months. I was motivated to write this review because it is not common to find many doctors these days who really take their time with you, listen, address all of your questions and concerns, make you feel valued as a patient, and express their commitment to helping restore your health. It is important to have that feel-good connection and trust with your provider, and sometimes it takes a bit of searching to find it. I am so thankful that I was led to Dr. McCool and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a very knowledgeable AND caring doctor.

Unfortunately, after my PCP, Dr. Kara Crisp, left the practice, that level of care went downhill. I have seen multiple providers, and unless I agree to paying for an out-of-pocket test, some of which that have been questionable, they are uncertain about what to do. I have spent hours upon hours in appointments with really no answers, and while I do appreciate that each provider takes time to speak with me, getting a timely referral, or timely lab results, is something this clinic struggles with. Again, they used to be on top of it, so I am uncertain as to what has happened in the last few years. Recently, I requested a diagnostic test, and after a lot of back and forth, I finally had one scheduled. Unfortunately, the authorization number that was given had expired, and no one in the office knew what happened, and they kept passing the blame onto someone else, delaying and inevitably forcing me to cancel said test, unless I wanted to pay out of pocket, which would have been quite costly without insurance. The receptionist, who regularly laughs at clients whenever they ask a simple question, was also quite abrasive and unprofessional. When I had made a complaint to the office manager, the blame kept being passed onto others, which seems to be a reoccurring theme with this practice. There is 0 accountability, and one of the reasons I am giving this place 3 stars is due to how lovely the clinic's environment is. It is calming, welcoming, and a stark difference from that of a western medicine doctor's office. I am also giving 3 stars, because I truly did like my providers, but I feel like the office staff could have been more supportive of them, taken on more responsibilities, and could have had more clear communication. Something that had been a reality when I first started with them back in 2019. Yes, I understand that each provider is essentially an independent contractor renting out office space, but that's a poor excuse for not supporting them and not taking on the responsibilities other doctors' offices front staff typically take on.

She helped me when I had all sorts of insurance issues and worked with me to make sure I was still getting great care. I can't say enough good things about her and her practice. First, he has a really unique balance of warm, compassionate, yet smart and focused energy that he brings to every intake and treatment. This is so important to me - I want a doctor to be kind and giving, so I can feel safe. But, I also need to know that they have the smarts and the cutting edge thinking that will help get to the bottom of my sometimes weird symptoms. Gibran is a great example of this mix. Second, Gibran can do both Naturopathic and Chinese medicine focused treatments. Before I continue I want to offer full disclosure - I went to school with Gibran at NCNM. Why is this important? Well, all through school, Gibran really impressed me with his willingness and ability to really INTEGRATE the two types of medicine. I don't want to speak badly about other people who do both types of medicine, but Gibran really exemplifies what it means to bring these two traditions together in a way that serves patients. I really can't say enough about him... just go see for yourself!

The doctor here seems like he knows what he is doing, and seems to be a pretty good guy, but the office help sinks him. And I mean SINKS him. I appreciate that people make mistakes, and there have been several, in a short amount of time that I have gone here, that leads to my decision that they are not running a very good office. Mistakes on my lab work, multiple mistakes on my billing. If you have someone wh does not know how to properly bill someone, DON'T LET THEM DO IT!!!!! I am trying to be kind here, and not rip them apart, or roast them like I would REALLY want to do. It was so bad, and unbelieveably unprofessional, that the billing person called me to fix the mistake, AND THEN TURNED IT INTO AN EVEN BIGGER MISTAKE!!!!!!!! It actually made me laugh how incopmpetent she really was. I would have been completely embarassed if it was me, but not her! I am sure they are trying their best, but they have lost whatever confidence I have in that office. That, coupled with the feeling that he is trying to constantly sell me his brand of supplements (wanted me to take 11 pills a day) which with my life, and schedule is completely impossible. Part of being a "doctor" is understanding their life and making sure you treat them accordingly. I would never go back, and am trying to convince my wife to go somewhere else too.
