So this is a belated review. My treatment concluded successfully more than two months ago. Dr. Raeburn helped me so much. Before I visited him I had more or less convinced myself that I would face a protracted period of discomfort and diminished physical capability. Now I am doing extremely well. I kind of felt like I was cheating on a girl friend... my normal Chiropractor was out of the office last Friday... a day when I awoke unable to turn my head side to side or look up or down. Wincing with every step... walking around like someone stuck a broom handle up my bun - TMI? I've passed Dr. Raeburn's office a hundred times on the way to work and thought I'd take advantage of his "walk-ins welcome" sign. My lucky day... the Doc was is and able to see me right away. He gave me a thorough exam and asked a ton of questions. Zapped me with the heating pad and electro-something or other and then made his adjustments. I was impressed at the time and effort he put into giving me relief... stretches and massaging the tender areas... getting my back and neck to release... I was soooo friggen happy I walked in as my range of mobility improved from nil to about 75%. I'm comforted to know he's in the hood should I even need help like I did last Friday - and would definitely recommend him. Oh, yeah... Dr. Raeburn not only greeted me when I arrived, but he also is the person that made my appt. over the phone, so that made me like this place to begin with (a Dr. that will answer the phones and help out instead of telling people to do it.) I had just gotten back from a backpacking trip with my brother. Having had back problems beforehand I knew it was risky and perhaps a bad idea but I didnt want that to stop our trip. Before flying back home, I decided to look in the area for someone who could help diagnose and take a look at what was causing my neck and back problems. I came across Dr. Raeburn through yelp and his website. He seemed to know and care about his practice so I decided to give him a shot. Theres a reason Dr. Raeburn consistently receives praise and thats because he knows his work. He expertly figured out what was causing all of my pain and the root of my problems. He did a serious of exercises much like a physical therapist would have you do and made my back and neck feel infinitely better. I am in Portland this summer due to graduate school so my regular chiropractor is in another state. A few weeks ago I was building a structure and tweaked something in my back. As a result I was unable to sit, stand or sleep without experiencing pain and discomfort. A fellow grad student referred me to Dr. Raeburn who was able to get me in on the same day that I was having this immense amount of pain and mobility issues. After the first treatment I was able to stand and sit without discomfort. The muscular strain was still tender but healed up nicely over the weekend. The compassion and professionalism this office demonstrates shines through every aspect of this office. Dr. Raeburn took time to get to know me and my history in order to be able to access what is "normal" for my body and which aspects of the pain were new. I appreciated the time he took in explaining some of the joint functions and also his suggestions for after care which include seeing their licensed massage therapist. I have received excellent care. Overall my experience with Overlook was amazing and I am sad I have to return home in a few weeks. If I lived in this area I would shift my chiropractic preference to Overlook. read more

Dr. Raeburn and his staff made my first visit to a chiropractor regarding my lower back issue a very pleasant one. I have been suffering from acute lower back pain for the last 2 weeks. Dr. Raeburn gave a thorough examination, took plenty of time to explain various causes for my back pain, and provided an effective treatment session, as well as going through a number of "core strengthening" exercises. I really appreciate the time spent on explaining my situation and answering a number of questions I had. I'm impressed with Dr Raeburn. I'm a bit of a hard sell as I have been to one bagillion chiropractors and usually prefer the "activator" style but I was impressed here. I've moved around a lot the past 10+ years and have been to see numerous chiropractors as a result. I thought I knew just what was the matter with me (my neck) and had been conditioned to believe that my life would include (at least!) weekly adjustments and regular massage in order for my hands not to be numb all the time. When I moved to Portland, I gave *just* massage a try and had some success for a few months. Eventually, I decided that I should go back to my old standby solution and sought out a Chiropractor. I was blown away when Dr. Raeburn didn't immediately suggest that I enroll in some $150 a week program where I would have to show up 3-4 times a week for adjustments. Instead, he listened. A lot. He's the first Chiropractor who's EVER ordered blood work to try to identify a root cause for my hand numbness. While I don't yet have a "diagnosis", I really appreciate that Dr. Raeburn took a holistic approach to my situation and didn't just sign me up for a lifetime of adjustments and a bankroll for his practice. When I was training for a half marathon, I was in such pain that I could barely run at all. If u ever need chiropractic work done, I strongly recommend Dr. Raeburn. I was terrified of going to see him because I don't trust medical professionals, I've had bad chiropractor experiences before, and I also have multi-level degenerative disc disease and foraminal stenosis. But I've discovered that Dr. Raeburn is fantastic! He is kind and respectful and listens to what I have to say and doesn't treat me like just another "patient". And I feel so much better after my second visit! My back and neck were so bad recently, that I felt like I had no energy and that my head was too heavy for my neck to hold up.
