I should have written this review a decade ago but never got around to it. I have used Pain…read moreManagement 3 times in the last 12 years for relief of temporary pain. My first introduction to Ashok Jayaram, MD was just over 10 years ago when I had a serious accident with a Radial Arm saw and cut my left hand (Primary hand) in half and loosing 2 of my fingers. After a 8 1/2 hour surgery they had my hand back together. Over the next 2 years I had 13 additional surgeries. The surgeon was good about treating the pain resulting from the surgery but did nothing to help my suffering from the nerve damage and 2 years of hand therapy. They referred me back to my primary care doctor who did nothing. While complaining to my surgeon about the issue he referred me to Pain Management. Dr Jayaram immediately put me on a long lasting fentanyl patch and a lidocaine patch which worked great. After completing therapy we went to strictly to the lidocaine patch which I used for the next 18 months or so until the nerve pain disappeared. This was a wonderful non narcotic pain solution. Fast forward 10 years to my knee surgery (total replacement). The surgery went very well and they treated me for 6 weeks. At that point they discontinued all pain medication which caught me off guard. I was still in therapy ( which is very, very painful) and still in a lot of discomfort. Back to Pain Management Consultants. Dr Jayaram Put me back on a Fentanyl patch temporarily until my insurance approved the use of a formulated cream for pain management. This was a godsend. It worked great. So off the patch and on to the cream. I still use it today. Recently, I had a bungy cord (black rubber with metal hook) come undone while fully extended and hit me directly in the right eye rupturing the eye, crushing the lens, detaching the retina, and tearing my iris in half. The ophthalmologist treated the for the initial pain but due to the trauma to the eye and optic nerve, I developed Ocular Migraines. Back to Pain Management. Dr Jayaram put me on oral medication while we got insurance approval for a special treatment. Yesterday, he treated me with a local analgesic applied through the nose. It absorbs through the sinus and into a nerve cluster behind the eye. Instant relief ! It lasted about 3.5 hours. At about 2 am I was awakened by a screaming headache. I applied the treatment and bingo, headache gone. The receptionist told me she has had it done for her migraines and it works wonderfully. Pain Management Consultants is a great place to go to address both acute and chronic pain. Thanks to all of you at Pain Management Consultants!

I've been sitting in this waiting room for OVER TWO HOURS past the scheduled time, not including the early time and they still say it's going to be another 20 minutes more before she will even be back out of the room. They said the appointment won't take longer than 15 minutes in total. I recommend you find a different pain management clinic unless you have literally nothing else to do with your time and you enjoy just sitting and waiting. I had better experiences at the DMV.

Yet, 2 receptionist and several more people in the back for ??? You text to get an appointment The Dr sees you then prescribes a treatment. If you get medicine, sometimes it takes weeks to get. You then see the Asst. from then onward. then the receptionist calls to give you another appt 5 weeks later so you're always out of meds a lot. They also make you fill out a daily 4 questionnaire w/o telling you they charge you for this. No one checks this information. In my case they would request from my insurance company for treatments i hadn't agreed to, they charged me for extended appointments when I saw the Asst for less than 10 minutes. I finally told him I was done coming, yet I was charged for 2 more months of visits. I had to file a claim with my insurance company. I finally got the amount I was supposed to pay from over $1,000 to $90. I would avoid this office. The receptionist is nice.

He would not listen, and someone in this field should be better behaved and show empathy, kindness, not an accusatory tone. He certainly thought a lot of himself, was gruff & despicable. His office staff was cordial and friendly, he does not belong there and needs to be fired.

Only barely 3 figures. We never even received a bill or late notice. They have also sent an amount to collections for me (mid 2 figures, not a joke) for something I have no record of. We can pay and are not criminals because your billing practices are hopelessly disorganized. Untrustworthy and malicious in its practices. Petty in its operations. Avoid. I would sue them myself if not for the fact that unlike them I am mature enough not to care about such petty amounts. Let's all hope the desperation is a sign of imminent failure of their business.

From my first visit I have been very pleased with most of the interactions with staff and Doctors here. Specifically, Veronica the MA in the orthopedic clinic, Dr. Hwang and his PA Michael Cunningham as well as Heidi Tyson my rehab therapist are all excellent. My experience at the surgical center was also as smooth as I could have possibly imagined. The staff, nurses, and anesthesia team were great. I never felt like I was in a scary hospital setting, and people paid attention and checked in on me often. As a fellow healthcare professional I know how to run a business and care for patients without my office feeling like a people mill. This is not like other large clinics or hospitals I have been to. It feels more personal and more like a family practice.

I canceled my appointment before I ever met with the provider because my experience with the office…read morestaff made me uncomfortable trusting this practice with my health. As a patient seeking help for pain, communication matters. Before my appointment, I tried to confirm the details but did not receive a clear response by email, text, or phone. When a medical office is difficult to reach before you are even seen, that raises serious concerns about how responsive they will be once you are actually under their care. After receiving no confirmation, I contacted the office. When I did not receive a confirmation of the cancellation, I called a second time and left a voicemail message canceling my appointment a second time. Despite that, I was later billed as a "no show", which is unacceptable. If the office fails to respond, fails to properly confirm an appointment, and then fails to process a cancellation, the patient should not be penalized for that breakdown. I cannot speak to the doctor's medical care because I never made it that far. But I can speak to the office experience, and it was poor enough that I chose not to proceed. For anyone dealing with pain, the last thing you need is added stress, unclear communication, and billing issues before care has even begun. This experience left me with the impression that the practice is more focused on collecting fees than making patients feel heard, supported, and properly cared for.

My husband and myself have never been in his office and felt like he didn't want to see us or had to rush out because his life is so busy. As for the quality of work he does... it is phenomenal! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see my husband with straight legs and feeling 20 years younger. Had he not gone in and gotten those knees of his replaced when he did, he would have been in a wheelchair within the next few years. I can't even remember anymore, how bad both his legs were from his arthritis. To give a shout out to my husband, he took his part of taking care of his new knee replacements very seriously. Within 9 days of both surgeries he was back to work. I think he thinks he's Superman. He is a great testimony to the work Dr.O'Shea does...if the patient steps up and follows through by doing their part after the surgery. Then there is Lisa, his fabulous assistant. Another great person with a wonderful polite bedside manner. My husband and I are as comfortable seeing her as we are seeing Dr. O'Shea for injection's and post op procedures. What a team the two of them must make doing surgery. Sometime in the future, I too am going to need new knees. You cannot know the comfort I have in knowing at that time I will be very well taken care by a fabulous doctor and his assistant Lisa. Lori
