My 14-month old son absolutely loved it and my 2 year-old niece enjoyed it even more! They have cubbies when you walk in to store all of your things. The staff is very friendly! We went for open play time but I see online they have a ton of other more structured classes for all age ranges. Definitely recommend this place! PS there's a small parking lot too!

She kind of had a serious tone and wasn't helpful with giving me payment options and asking if I could afford it or not. She was very blunt about telling me the registration fee. It sucks because kindercare has a great reputation and I want the best for my child but I do not want to have another interaction like that again with the director.

I guess the only negative would be that the location might not be convenient for the work from home'rs, but I would recommend all my friends to this childcare without any hesitation, esp if it is convenient! After lots and lots of research and so many phone calls, we chose Shady Lane School. The staff at Shady Lane are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. Drop off and pick up usually take us longer than I expect because my son wants to go around and visit different teachers and say hi to everyone. Everyone learned his name quickly and greets him warmly even when he's being grumpy. Whenever I have to talk to the administrative team, my son is thrilled to play at the large train table by the front desk. His teachers are so dedicated, and I think that is such a big part of why this school is special. Our family is big and complicated, but my son's teachers have gone out their way to learn names and faces. They offer positive encouragement and praise as well as boundaries and redirection. My son used to argue with me about going to school at his last learning center/childcare provider, but now he's always eager to get up and go. I am so thankful that we found Shady Lane, and I will certainly keep them in mind if/when we have another child.

What an awesome organization to have in Pittsburgh! First,…read morethey put on incredible professional shows. They do several a year at the Byham and also have some at their headquarters in the West End. They also have several children's productions every year and while it is obvious physically that they are student performers, the quality is top notch. They also have a wonderful educational component. They offer classes throughout the school year (everything from dance to musical theater and even audition techniques). They offer both evening and weekend class options. PMT also hosts annual summer camps that start fairly young and run through the high school years. One of the great things about their camps is that they are four weeks long (three weeks of a standard camp day, one week of tech week). Many kids need consistency in the summer and this is one of the few summer camp options that offers is. The instructors are all wonderful with the kids and everything is well organized with efficient and plentiful communication. The only slight downside is that parking can be a challenge when attending something at their West End location. There is a municipal lot down the street and plenty of street parking, but you may need to park a few blocks away, so prepare in advance for that. Highly recommend them for taking in a show or participating in their classes or camps!

The acting is top notch! We went to see waitress over the weekend and the show was breathtaking…read more The reason I'm giving it three stars is too full... Even though we were quite early for the show, there was no one around, directing us in terms of where to park and it was quite confusing, being that we had never been there before. We ended up getting very turned around and Wound up 3 miles away from the theater again after passing it... That's our fault, but still better signage would be helpful. The other reason is that, as somebody with a visual impairment, the theater is quite hard to navigate. There is incredibly little space in between each row of seats, and as somebody with a vision impairment, and being plus sized, that can be a very big challenge when it comes to navigating during the appropriate times during our visit. Again, though, those are just our experiences with the venue... This rating does not at all reflect the performance, because it was 10 stars if that is an option! The venue is beautiful and it's definitely a piece of beautiful Pittsburgh history. Just a few touchups could be made! Keep doing amazing things, PMT!

I went and toured and was told to let them know as soon as possible about my interest. The very next day I emailed with some questions and how to get enrollment started. It's been 2 weeks and countless emails and phone calls from both me and my husband and not a single person has gotten back to us. It is extremely unprofessional and I am beyond angry that it is so difficult to get even a single response. I hate to say it but this alone makes me not want to enroll my child here. How can I justify spending the money on a place that can't even respond to a call or email?

My son has been attending ABCs for children for 3 years now. He started as a baby in the nursery,…read moreand is now in preschool. So many of the children in his classes have been in classes with him since nursery, it's so great. He's played with them for years now and has some strong friendships, which is not something I expected for a preschooler. They are great at providing a safe environment, telling us about any booboos, and observe state regulations and guidelines well, especially in the nursery. Out of the schools I visited, they had the highest standards for safety and followed them consistently. For example, in breast milk handling, there were a lot of logical sanitary and safety rules they followed, and I have heard plenty of questions and stories from friends where problems arose from other schools that did not follow these rules. (Sorry that's general but it would take me too long to explain in detail.) ABCs is in a church and overall the facility is something I really like. They have a beautiful outdoor play area with a giant tree that extends its branches over all the littles while they play. I'm sure there are schools out there that are fancier, but to me the school seems well-equipped, thoughtfully organized, and just overall a great and fun environment. The teachers are thoughtful and plan a lot of great activities. He's always coming home having learned things, and his social skills are particularly good. He shares very well, and likes to do it, and I really think he learned this at school. He also imitates his teachers at home, which is hilarious. He tries to make us do circle time with him, pretends to read us books like they do, gives us stickers, or teaches us. It's pretty funny, but also interesting to see what he tries to imitate. ^_^ They've also been doing little picnic lunches outside and sprinkler times in the afternoon. (And my goodness that seems like it'd be a hassle to change so many little kids into swimsuits for an hour and then back out again - but they do it! And he loves it.) They also have classes that will visit like soccer (which we are doing) and dance classes (which we skipped), and they go on some cool field trips, like bowling, museums, strawberry picking, pumpkin patches, etc. One of the things I like most is they send out weekly newsletters with pictures and recaps on everything they've done that week. They also send out biannual reports on development which are amazingly detailed and nice to compare to your own assessments. The teachers are flexible and understanding. If I had to give some constructive feedback, I'd say that there has been some turnover at times that could be a little worrisome, and that sometimes made our lives a little harder as our son adjusted to new teachers. When teachers are new, they are still getting their hands around all their different jobs, so sometimes they don't have the bandwidth to communicate as much at pickup/dropoff, but they get better at this after a ramp-up period. That said, there are still a lot of smart, experienced teachers, and younger teachers with kind and enthusiastic souls. We're also really dogmatic about trying to give our son low sugar food, because diabetes runs in our family, and I would say sometimes the snacks they provide can be a little more sugary than we might like. Still, I know there are probably other kids who are very picky and will only that kind of stuff. Overall, we've been extremely happy with ABCs and would recommend it to a friend.
