A nightmare. I explained--with very good reason--why I wanted to take my placement test closer to my booking, which was six months hence. I felt that a test a month or two closer to the date would be more indicative of my language level. This was clearly stated in an email.n I heard nothing back from them and made the booking. Once the funds had cleared I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY HAD TO TAKE THE TEST IMMEDIATELY!!! WITHIN 72 HOURS! This seemed insane. When I reiterated my explanation they were quite rude. And not just curt, more like "ha-ha, we have your money, what are you going to do about it?" I have a feeling that they do a lot of this bait and switch. read more

BE AWARE OF THE PRICE YOU PAY at Accent Francais. They charge different prices to all of the students. The difference for the same length of a course can be 30-40% less for some students. I found out that I paid the highest price. Some students who book a two-week course paid a lot less than me that were there for twelve weeks. I went to the office to ask for a refund. They asked me to write an email with all of the information and the petition. Immediately after I sent it, I got a replied from the woman that I had spoken just a few minutes before saying they do not give any refunds. Then I asked "Why did you ask me to write an email if the answer was going to be no? Very unprofessional. No response. The next day, I went to see her again, and said nothing and just wanted me to leave. There are no books, always ten students per class with different levels of French, some rooms were very small for ten people. The classes are not well prepared. Some teachers were okay, but some of them really bad. I also reserved accommodation with them and got something else. It seems to me that they just want your money, and do not care about the quality of the courses. They even fired one of the few teachers that was good. She was fired because she did not want to follow their unprofessional policies. There are better schools in Montpellier that will treat you like a student. I went to visit others and see a big difference in the quality of the programs and how they treat people. Do not go to Accent Francais in Montpellier, they will rip you off. read more

I am writing this review out of utter anguish and pain because of the way this horrible school treated me. First of all, I want to start by saying that I booked almost a 4-month long course here which costed me around 5100 euro and this school shamelessly took all of my money without refunding it. I do not even know where to start on how about this school is, but I will first start by accommodation. I chose to stay in the studio provided by the school and it's a very small, hot, under equipped studio with tons of problems. I paid 700 euros a month for it and director of this school told me before my arrival that I am enjoying a very special price. Little did I knew that when I came here it was worse than a prison cell and when I told the French residents who live here that I'm paying 700 Euros, they were baffled and told me that I am brutally scammed. Next part. The director of this school. Before arriving here, the director of this school told me how great her staff and the studies are, and since I needed to pass my C1 exams, I took the bait. When I arrived here, I found the staff were not very helpful and were straight up liars without any shame. They put in the wrong level from the get go and I was not able to understand many things that were discussed in the class. I also have a problem with anxiety and being in the wrong class made things worse. One of their staff members told me that they will put me at the right level from next week but then lied and told me that they will put me in the right level from next month. This technically means that I will lose money by being in the wrong class. On top of that, I found that the teachers here are largely incompetent and slow, their teaching styles are absolutely horrible and they pass most of the time chit chatting with their favorite students in class. This is just the beginning of the story, I caught two of their staff members mocking me and making fun of me and as soon as I entered the building they stopped. I complained to the director of this school who then started to completely ignore all my messages and when I got frustrated and told her that I feel like I am getting scammed, she in return accused me of harassment. So technically they harassed me and were abusive with me, and when I complained to fix the problem, they turned around and accused me of the same thing that they were doing. I decided to leave this school because my anxiety got worse and it was extremely hard for me to arrange 5100 Euros so I begged the director of this school to give me some of my money back. She refused, I asked her if she can use the enormous amount of money, I sent her for private lessons. She refused again saying the contract doesn't allow her. She said that there is not a single possibility that I will get anything back. She kept on proposing me low-class courses to attend and I told her that I have a problem and I want to return to my country and I would've been perfectly okay if she would've given me at least some part of my money, but no! She didn't show any compassion towards my medical condition or my financial condition. Moreover, she even took the 220 Euros that I paid for the examination fees and refused to even refund that even though this money was not even supposed to be for the school. So, a recap. They offered horrible accommodation, they offered horrible courses, they put me in the wrong level, their staff made fun of me, when I complained and said that I no longer want to continue, the director did not refund me a single dime and on top of that accused me of being a bad person. I never seen such dishonest, deceiving, disrespectful people in my entire life. I will never forget the emotional and financial stress this disgusting school has caused me. Best French school with 22 years of experience. Sure! Most people book for 2-3 weeks so they never see the other side of this school. But I will never forget the lost money and the psychological hell they put me through. read more

I studied at Accent Francais for nearly three months, and it was astonishing how much progress was made in my French language ability. The staff was friendly, professional and well-trained. Many of the teachers and administrators could also speak English if you found yourself struggling, but with the strict little to no English policy, French language learning took a very natural, effective course. Apart from the functionality of the school, it was a wonderful place to meet people from all over the world. While I was there, I believe there were around 70 nationalities represented. The city of Montpellier is perfect for activies through the day and into the night. If you attend this school, you can expect endless opportunities to open up for you through field trips, independent travel, volunteer work and assimilating into the French culture! read more

A good, solid choice for a language school in Montpellier. Huge hearts, slightly smaller operating budgets. Having now attended Goethe Institut in Berlin, I write this with an expensive, well-financed institution as the benchmark, and Accent Francais can't compare. Located in a charming old building, with fireplaces and balconies in most classrooms, it's probably perfect if you're looking to combine a holiday with a few weeks refresher. But if you are dead set on continuous week over week progression, keep looking (though, honestly, I haven't heard of a better school in Montpellier). The school adds new students weekly (and mid week, at times), rotates through teachers, and has no fixed curriculum or textbook. So it's more of a potpourri than a rigid instruction environment. The teachers, for the most part, are experienced and committed, ALL of the staff is accessible and friendly, and the location couldn't be better. I had a wonderful time there, but very different than my three months at Goethe, which felt much more like real school. Different audiences, of course. I signed up for a 4 week intensive course and homestay. My homestay ended up being almost an hour from the city-center and there were four people sharing a two bedroom apartment. The living room needed to be converted into a bedroom around 2030, which meant we all had to retreat to our rooms and there was no common space, undermining the very purpose of a homestay. The travel time meant if you want to participate in any of the advertised cultural events in the evening, you have to spend almost 4 hours in transit. This would have been fine if Accent Français had addressed the discrepancy between what they advertised and what they delivered and taken ownership over the issue, but at about the two-week mark the maximum they were willing to do was refund the money for the second two weeks of housing (no flexibility or taking responsibility for the first two lost weeks). I would not recommend Accent Française to anyone looking for a quality immersion experience, much less anyone within my organization. In talking to students at other schools in Montpellier, it seems as though there are other more reliable options. read more

Although the teaching was good, lessons did not start until 4pm, so all day to fill. The host 'family' experience did not work at all for me, as the host was clearly just doing it to fill her spare beds, cooked food at the beginning of the week which was served repeatedly - no meat/fish, except 1 night fatty sausage and another night egg. 3 nights she was out socialising (single Mum + her children away). Bed was a bunk. It was a very unhappy experience. Beware the cooking activity night at school - E70, so v. expensive + due to a fall that morning physically unable to attend - not even a partial refund. Experience in Germany with another language school last week + host family was fantastic, lessons through the morning and plenty of reasonably priced and inclusive activities. read more
