Due to this year's change in insurance. I've had to suffer the ineptitude of Molina...particularey any mental health protocol. Shocking! and potentially harmful. 100% incompetent/ negligent. I was transferred at least 8 times, plus "call-back" numbers...simply trying to obtain a 10-15 minute appt with a genuine MD, specializing in Psychiatry. ALL I require is the continuation of existing meds prescribed by my last Dr. What's so hard about that? I spent from 11:30am to 4pm exhaustively TRYING to connect to a legit psychiatrist's office to make a simple appt!!! What the hell is wrong with you people?!? i USED TO TRUST YOU. 4 1/2 hrs is LONG ENOUGH!!! I had lab work to complete, but didn't even bother doing it, fearing that I would get lost (have an anxiety disorder). As I could imagine, someone could easily get lost here, so the only improvement I would make is to have proper/clearer signage available to make navigating the facility easier. As I was walking out, people WERE confused and didn't know where they were going. They were walking around in circles trying to find the area they needed to be in. It was my first time here, so I couldn't point them in the right direction other than what the signage pointed out on the wall. The quality in care is great though. Dr. Atkinson answered all of my questions and diagnosed me fairly quickly. He also let me know who I needed to speak to/get referred out to and sent the referral out without issue. His nurse, Jacqueline was sweet and made me feel very comfortable.

I also really like my PCP Dr. Pho Nguyen. I've seen Dr. Joe Atkinson who is great as well. Ketsia (Dr. Nguyen's nurse) is also super nice and a pleasant change from some of the tired, lazy and indifferent nurses I've experienced in other departments. The thing that makes this not a five-star review are the back office people who handle messages for the doctors. Kaiser "message nurses" that work in the Kaiser centralized "back office call center" seem incompetent based on my experience. I'm shocked that some of them are even licensed because they don't seem to be able to read and understand messages sent from patients. I've had it happen with multiple different Kaiser Departments over and over. It's completely frustrating when alleged professionals don't even take the time to read an email or (God forbid) take a moment to briefly review patient history before taking action. Then they reply and make the message so you can't reply. So, then you have to send yet another message or make another call and the cycle continues. The doctors and nurses I've encountered at this facility have been great. It's the Kaiser "team based" approach to care that is a complete dumpster fire. The staff are too overworked to take time to do complete and accurate work and no one takes any ownership. Once you're off the phone, out of the exam room or they have responded to the email, they do not care. If you have problems, you are back in the queue to get a half-assed response from some other random nurse. Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Atkinson deserve five stars. It's the Kaiser system that sucks and helps to perpetuate the common saying "Kaiser is great, until you get sick."

Pop up to the second floor via the elevator, or stairs, and you have arrived. Due to a Christmas layoff, I lost my regular insurance back in December. Thankfully, I now have a temporary insurance that allows me to be seen at Hillcrest Family Health Center. Amen to that! I recommend making an early appointment, as this place can get quite busy as the day goes on. There is plenty of seating in the waiting room, but it's possible you could get an unfavorable seat, or not a seat at all. The young ladies at the check-in station have all been very nice, which is much appreciated. Also, there is hand sanitizer at the check-in station which is also "so fresh and so clean". Aside from the aforementioned, I've been really pleased with the ability to get an appointment with very short notice. Once I was able to make an appointment within 2 days, and another time I secured an appointment in about a week. Also, each time I've been seen, albeit early in the a.m., the appointments have been punctual. No waiting around leaving plenty of time to move on with my day. I also like that they have a lab that shares the lobby, making it a breeze to get your blood drawn after your appointment. I was able to knock out the appointment and the blood draw in no time. What I haven't been too fond of is the follow up on referrals. I was told that I would receive a follow up call about two referrals that were placed during my initial visit, but they never called. Thankfully, and more importantly, the referrals did get placed, so all I have to do is follow up with the referral locations. The other slight concern I had was that the NP that saw me during my initial visit, didn't really provide a very caring or investigative experience. What I mean is, it was more of a touch and go or check the boxes kind of interaction. To be fair though it was an initial visit and they are a traveling NP, so they sort of mentioned that I probably wouldn't see them again after the blood work. However, I did end up seeing them on my second visit, which was what I would call a more thorough and patient interaction, which I very much appreciated. Thank you for that. Thank you to everyone at HFHC!!! It's a tough job, in a tough economy, in a world full of madness, so I'm thankful for being able to have healthcare and get some relief. Don't forget to tell your loved ones that you love them. Be safe out there y'all.

I have toured Short Term Care Facilities, relied upon Scripps Case Management team everytime. Tho in January they recommended Balboa Facility, that place almost killed my father with the lack of care. Landed him in the hospital another 2 weeks after a 39 day stay in the hospital. So I am very beyond leary about all facilities. My dad's insurance would only keep him there 2 weeks. From the beginning I met everyone including the Director of Nursing, the Social Worker and even the Staff Dr called me. They were somewhat ready for to recieve my father, the only thing why I gave 4 stars not 5 was that the medicine was not all in (he takes over 40 pills a day) but all the really important ones were. Every concern that I had was addressed and heard (there wasn't that many) The entire staff was engaged and cared about their patients. Not to mention the occupational and physical therapy was superb and this is why we were there. Again leaving I was told that my dad would have 30 days of medicine and that was not the case, I had maybe a weeks worth so now I have to call primary Dr to arrange but all in all, it was a positive experience.

He got admitted into the facility around 8-9pm when he arrived no vitals were taken, no one checked up on him, or asked if anything was needed. As soon we got there we noticed the place was disgusting, the room had a horrible smell, the floors were dirty full of what looked like crumbs of food, bedside table dirty, we saw a few bugs on the floor walls and curtain. Next morning's when we went in to visit still no care was taken for not even vitals !! He mentioned they just threw his breakfast tray on the table and didn't assist with any of it (he is fully alert). My dad at the time had no mobility in his arms so he couldn't even hold a spoon or fork he needed assistant in feeding. Another thing his back ,stomach, chest was COVERED in rashes looked to be bites. Before coming in his body was clear by the way but yet there was no skin check documentation to prove that because no one would check on him!!! When we mentioned to the nurse about it she said he could have scabies but we couldn't have an answer because it was a Saturday and wouldn't be able to test it till Monday. That same morning we did notice my dad off he also mentioned he didn't feel good. He was running a fever of 103!! We told the nurse we wanted him sent out to the hospital because of the fever and the rashes they kept denying it. When we asked to speak to a supervisor or charge nurse they said no one was in charge because it was a weekend and they didn't work weekends?!?!? We took it into our own hands and called paramedics on our own they came to pick him up and one of them had mentioned that he should've been sent out hours ago. They asked us to sign an AMA form since we went against their care but yet none was being done. Please do not admit any loved ones to this facility it is truly one of the worst places we have gone to.
