ACCA is an acronym for Annandale Christian Community for Action. ACCA is a church-supported voluntary organization providing rental assistance, day care, emergency food delivery, Meals on Wheels, basic furniture delivery, housing repair, transportation to medial appointments, family emergency financial assistance, student scholarships and other services to needy families in the area. They have a child development center and a food pantry on-site & all ACCA services, except the Child Development Center, are provided by volunteers at no cost to those who need them. They were founded over 50 years go by Fred & Emily Ruffing, a local family from Alexandria, VA, who were going through hardships themselves. They organized a meeting with representatives from eight local churches to set up a day care center to provide assistance to the working poor. They marshaled support from the county and from local donors & succeeded in meeting the needs! Annandale Christian Community for Action branched out into other activities, all under the banner of "doing what Jesus would do". The organization started with eight churches and currently has a membership of 26. I have been doing food delivery for them for years and I also bring clothing & household donations from my school & my home. The beautiful thing about donating is it is all put out on table for folks to simply take what they need - no cost! So it to literally goes directly to the community. They accept food donations, clothing, toys, household, school supplies, you name it, and you can also donate financially. Overcrowded rooms, not enough teachers, there is an inexperienced young woman that is all talks and apparently she's a supervisor! Seems like most workers are underpaid and stressed out! I saw very few online reviews about ACCA, but visited in person to see if it was a good fit regardless. My son has now been attending ACCA CDC for 3 years. Thanks to the unconditional love and support these Ladies and Gentlemen have provided to our small family, he is growing to be one of the kindest, most exceptional children I've ever met. I have been through many personal and professional challenges while my son has attended this school, and the staff has always gone the extra mile to provide us with support wherever needed. The Teachers and Staff at ACCA listen carefully to parents and children, so they have the intuition to address all of my expressed AND unexpressed concerns. The teachers are very engaged with the children, and are fantastic with teaching healthy boundaries- which was important to me. The diversity at ACCA encourages bilingual communication at an early age, and encourages cross-cultural understanding, which I also highly value. The structured curriculum, huge playgrounds, gardens (the kids are taught how to grow their own food!), and emphasis on the arts (music and creative play/expression) make this a wonderful place for any child to go. I feel very fortunate to have run across ACCA- my son and I are better people for knowing everyone there. In my opinion, ACCA is hands down- the best program in the area. read more

I can't say enough what a blessing the team at ACCA CDC has been! Since I have 5 children (4 are now school age & have left the center, but my youngest currently attends), I have been using ACCA CDC since 2013. The level of care that the team at ACCA gives is absolutely amazing. The teachers & admin staff are friendly & are very good at communicating with parents. They tell me if my kids are having issues in class & we discuss them. They also keep me informed about things they observed throughout the day & tell me about activites they notice my kids really enjoy doing. Even during the pandemic, when the world became chaotic, ACCA worked diligently to keep their doors open & provide quality childcare. I would (& have) recommend them to any parent who wants amazing childcare. read more

Wish I could only give this place 1 1/2 Stars, but that's pushing it very much! As a Parent who has their Child there, I've seen over-crowded classrooms, not enough Teachers in the room with the children. Too many times they are over ratio for FFX County Laws. The Lunches consist of a combination of McDonalds and Taco Bell. They are high in Salt, high in Fat content, and so is the Breakfast and Snack. As a Parent, I have noticed that some of the Teachers are on their Cell Phones while with the Children. The Classrooms are lacking in enough supplies for Art, for Science, Writing materials. Their system of checking Children In and Out of the Center is Hap-Hazard and inconsist. Anyone can walk out with a Child. The Director is a cold, non-emotional, uncompassionate 'Person' even though I want to say something else about this person. And her Assistant is just like her! I would encourage anyone looking for a Child Care Center for their Child, stay away from here if you do not want your Child to be tramatized by the lack of proper procedures! read more

As an early childhood teacher I am trained to identify the components of a good program. ACCA CDC is by far the best program in the area and I know this because I literally visited all of them. I have high expectations for my children's education and ACCA has meet all of them and even exceeded some of them. The staff know the names of every single child in the program. The are very polite and warm, as are the parents and children in the program. The center works hard to establish a friendly family vibe. They recently adopted a phenomenal curriculum that is play based and meets every child at their level and takes them to the next one. The campus is very secure and you can tell they take safety very seriously. They also take each child's needs and personality into account when deciding on teacher placement. Because I am a highly involved parent I have the pleasure of getting to know all of the staff members and I can say, with confidence, that I would be comfortable having my children placed in any of the classrooms. I think it is unfortunate that some reviewers had a negative experience, because I often wonder if any other school my children will ever attend will be able to live up to the standards ACCA CDC has established for my children's education. read more

I have a 5-year-old at this center, and it is a great and safe program. My son has learned a lot, and I feel that he's ready to make the transition to elementary school. Our son has been at ACCA for a year now and we are so pleased with the service. From day 1 Sammy was extremely helpful with getting him in the program. And Ms. Jenny who is in charge of the billing has always been so helpful and has even gone out of her way to personally help us get the best possible rate. He has grown very fond of his teachers and even other teachers in the school. Everyone in the building knows my little rowdy dimple faced boy and we absolutely love it! Very family oriented and homey feel. So reassuring that we have found a school for him until he is able to go to elementary school. read more

To be fair, the teachers my 3 years old son had deserve 5 stars at least. Ms. Revathi proved to be very knowledgeable and experience, and my son loved her so much. Ms. Alba did a great job as well. These 2 teachers were the only reason why we continued enrolling our son into ACCA CDC, otherwise we would have been gone a long time ago. The third assistant teacher however, was far less than great. At some point she refused to let me pickup my son because she wanted me to go talk to the school's office staff. I understood that it was important, but I did not have time to do it right than. This teacher pretty held my son in her arms and refused to hand him over, it really felt like she was kind of kidnapping him. She just made me go NUTS!, all of a sudden the director came in and insisted that I can't leave before I go to the office. I really could not believe it. That's when I decided that enough is enough, and moved on to another school. In conclusion, if you really HAVE to take you kid to school, at least make sure you enroll them in Ms. Revathi's class, otherwise save yourself a lot of time and money by finding a better school. read more

I completely agree with the other reviewer. My 3 year old have been attending this facility and the program is really going downhill. Classrooms are filthy and overcrowded. Teachers are so rude when they talk to the children. My child is learning bad language from the teachers every day. Both my wife and I have tried to talk to the program director number of times with no results. The director is like on some drugs; it's like talking to the wall. sHE ALWAYS HAVE EXCUSE FOR EVERYTHING. She doesn't have the capabilities or experience to run the program.. a total incompetent. Their parking situation is a total joke. They have limited parking to begin with and some renovation is going on since last year. Parking spaces are blocked off with cones. Employees are allowed to park in the front parking lot where the parents should be parking to drop-off and pick-up the children. The employees should be parking on the back lot. During pickup times, I see people are leaving their cars with engine running to pick up or drop-off the kids and blocking the traffic. I am taking my child out of this "hell-hole". The State and FF county should look at this program /facility. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DECENT CHILD CARE PLACE, DON'T WALK, RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more
