Had chairs and sofa reupholstered years ago. Time to go back for a refresh! Excellent workmanship, service and communication.

When we decided to recover two club chairs and an ottoman that had seen better days, picking out new fabric was the fun part. "It shouldn't cost too much to recover them", I thought.... Suddenly I wasn't having fun anymore. Until I found Anne on Yelp with all of the stellar reviews. I called her, she ANSWERED the phone and was prompt, professional and enthusiastic about my project. Her prices were SO good and her estimate SO reasonable I was a bit skeptical. Throughout the entire process she communicated the progress and estimate when she could do the work. She hit every target and we received our chairs and ottoman right before Thanksgiving (and I told her that would be nice but I'd understand if she couldn't meet the date). As in any transaction there are 3 parts to the work: 1) the initial contact and sense of confidence a customer gets from the business 2) the process of getting the project done 3) the end result. Somehow her stock just kept rising in my eyes. Even my husband was impressed and glad we had the work done. And the price is reasonable and well worth the workmanship. LOOK NO FARTHER than Acanthus for all of your upholstery needs. As corny as that sounds I'm of the age that I know somebody's grandma said that "look no farther" thing about something because it was plain and simple wisdom. Our cat had destroyed our pair of white sofas (who gets white sofas????). Well, ok, our cat, as well as a couple wine drinkers and a black sharpie! They desperately needed a facelift, and we were on a very short turnaround as guests were coming into town. Anne at Acanthus was awesome to work with from start to finish, super friendly and professional. She helped us select a good fabric, suggested ways we might be able to save on cost and shipping time, and accommodated my totally unreasonable deadline in stride. Ultimately they were able to turn the project around in a shockingly short time, and the couches looked incredible! They also use 'eco' fabrics and fillings. I've recently become paranoid about the horrible toxic fire-retardant chemicals they add to beds and furniture, and was excited to work with a company that uses natural fire retardant materials and high quality fabrics. I could not be happier with the work done by Acanthus. Anne was extremely helpful creating perfectly fitting slipcovers making a pattern from the covers being replaced. Where I live (Hawaii) there is no one making slipcovers, I thought I'd bring the covers as patterns with me to Portland. I called three companies, no & no. They had to have the chairs to do the job. Then I called Acanthus. Sure, no problem Anne says. She made it so easy! I selected cotton twill fabric, for an additional fee she had it pre-washed for me, which I appreciated. Anne offered us a couple of options at the outset, and completed the work promptly after ordering the material we selected. Additionally, desiring to protect our reupholstered loveseats after the fact, with Anne''s further help we agreed upon a design for a pair of easy-on,easy-off fabric seat covers. I was looking to have a new slipcover made for our sectional and these people were so incredible! Well, I guess I really only worked with April but man, she was awesome! Great communicator by email and phone. Always kept me in the loop of what was going on. She so kindly helped me narrow down a wonderful fabric within my budget and design constraints. I believe from the time she ordered the fabric to when my project was complete was MAYBE 3 weeks. I was really impressed with their efficiency. Also what blew me away is that they didn't even have my couch to work with...I just brought in the old slipcover and they made one using that as a guide. Mind blowing. Now, I know nothing about sewing or patterns or anything of that sort so perhaps this isn't as incredible as it feels in my head. But it felt was like I brought over a sample of my grandma's tomato soup to a chef and then they recreated it pretty much perfectly if not better. Seriously, this new slipcover is better than the old one. Fits even better! I was really impressed with their work. They also made a window seat cushion for us that's just perfect. I found Acanthus on Yelp when I was looking for someone to make a slipcover for my couch. I had recently purchased a new couch and although I loved the fabric, my old man cat has a bad habit of pulling his portly body onto furniture with his front claws. Fortunately I had purchased extra fabric at the time of purchase but I was looking for someone to make covers for the bottom cushions and armrests so it would be protected but still look nice. Just because you have pets doesn't mean you should suffer with ugly covers! Acanthus did an incredible job - when I put the covers on my fiance didn't even realize because they looked so good. Plus when I went to their shop to pick up my items they had a bunch of really cool looking pieces they were working on for other clients. I'd definitely highly recommend them! read more

Took in a beat up little accent chair that I bought off craigslist to get reupholstered, and oh. my. gosh - they did SUCH a great job! They were even able to polish up the the wood legs, which were pretty dinged up and showing their years, to look practically brand new! Besides the excellent craftsmanship, this store has some really beautiful upholstery fabrics to choose from. My chair was finished ahead of schedule, for a very competitive price, and looks fabulous. Anne is simply a genius at upholstery. She has done several project for me over the last 10 years, including a sofa and a set of mid-century modern dining chairs in fabulous butter-colored pleather. But the latest project is the greatest. My cat was attacking my new MCM sofa, but I didn't want to cover it with ugly tablecloths or those cheap-o slipcovers. Instead, Anne made a great throw-on slipcover (she called it a slip-tarp!) that fits nicely but is easy to put on and take off, and I can stand to look at it day-in day-out. She is not the low-price leader, so if you're looking for cheap, don't call her. But if you want beautiful, thoughtful work, she's the gal. read more
