Great Maine Lumberjack Show

Great Maine Lumberjack Show

Ambiance: You will be sitting outside under a covered area (bleachers style). The bathrooms are located right outside the performance area. There is a snack bar selling food and bevs (chips, popcorn, and soda). Show: The show is very kids friendly. I enjoyed it even without bringing children. Some of the jokes were corny and aimed towards kids FYI! Kids Friendly: Timber Tina and her crew truly makes this show an unforgettable moment for children! The show pauses so that kids can safely get involved with some wood chopping activities with their lumberjack. At the end, they even get a little certificate that is signed by their favorite lumberjack to show that they are now a little lumberjack themselves! A lucky child will get to bring home their very own "rabbit" chair (shipping might be involved if you live out of states and did not drive). Tickets: We bought online and they were slightly cheaper than buying at the door.

My one kid still has his "rabbit" chair in his room from when he was four years old and now he's 20. This is one of the absolute best family friendly shows we've ever been to. Timber Tina (who was on Season 2 of Survivor among other shows and host for years of competition lumberjack and lumberjill on ESPN) has been the host and owner of this show now in their 30th season. You'll get to see the red and green teams of two compete in many different logging competitions including climbing, log rolling, chainsaw cutting, axe throwing, and chopping. There's some "adult" joking but no cursing and everyone will have a great time. The show runs nightly at 7pm and lasts about 90 minutes. The bleacher style seating can get uncomfortable so you may consider being a cushion. They also have port-o-potties if needed, a souvenir and snack stand, and parking is plentiful and free. The show goes rain or shine. Most of the seating is covered. I'd have to assume that it'd be a no-go in a thunderstorm. The children mid-show will get an opportunity to use a saw under the supervision and guidance of the competitors, and there will also be a Q&A to ask anything whether lumberjack related, about Tina, or anything you may have a desire to have answered. Everyone got their turn. Everyone was genuinely nice and friendly and maybe you'll also learn a thing or too about the sport. Did you know there are several colleges with lumberjack as a degree? You and your family have to make this a must-do if you're in Maine. Especially if you have kids. Even if you don't. As I said, this was our third or fourth time, and each time we brought someone new with us on vacation we have to go see the show. They also loved it as much as we do. It just makes you feel good. Yo Ho! The call of the lumberjack!

Wow wow wow! I think this was the overall best brewery we visited while in Maine! The beer and the…read morefood were incredible! Add in the ambiance and you get this gem in Ellsworth. We walked over from the main strip of downtown and loved the vibe as soon as we arrived. Walking down the stairs to get to the brewery versus the glass blowing shop was so cute. With apples on the ground from the apple trees, it couldn't be more "Maine". When walking in, you order at the bar for both food and drink and then there is a booth/trailer out back where the food comes out. The inside is set up for open mic night and then outside they have a full stage where they host live music. There is plenty of seating outside at the picnic tables as well. We ordered a couple beers, the Margherita pizza, the potato chips, and the Carrot Top salad. I cannot tell you howwwwwwwww amazing the salad was!! I have never had a salad like this and I ate every last bite. The roasted carrots were so good, combined with the crispy onions and the dressing; it was heaven. The chips were incredible and the dip that comes with it just elevates it that much more. I believe it was a pickle dip of some sort? I can't remember specifically, just that I needed a vat of it. Then the pizza?! We couldn't finish it but man did we want to! Add all this tasty food to a beautiful backdrop and we were the happiest little foodies in Maine. Hands down best stop in Ellsworth!

Located on a neighborhood street a block off main street with plenty of parking is this hidden gem. They have indoor and lots of outdoor seating. The night we were there, there was a jazz duo providing entertainment. Our group ordered a variety of beers, cider and seltzers. The blue maple selz had a unique taste, but was refreshing. Beers included fog light , Maine coast , riverbend and aqua culture- with pine and oysters. The beers were very good and we purchased some to go. The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. They promote farm to table and sustainability. A perfect location to relax after a day in Acadia

Finding these gardens was pretty much the happiest accident ever. We happened to be driving through…read morethe area when we spotted a beautiful little bridge from the road and decided to turn the corner and pull in. There were only a few rows of parking and it was a little tight. I got a little nervous because there was no real signage and I wasn't even sure if I was allowed to be there. I left my husband with our dog in the car and walked up to check out the entrance. Unfortunately it wasn't dog friendly, which meant we couldn't stay very long, but we definitely wanted to check it out. Walking into this garden is like walking into another world. It's so incredibly well manicured and peaceful. There are short trails and the plant life is beautiful, especially considering that we visited outside of what would typically be a blooming season for vegetation. There are beautiful flowers and moss covered stones and carefully shaped trees creating this amazing space that made us want to stay forever. There's also lots of water features like a stream and a pond and little waterfalls. This is definitely a spot that you would want to sit for long periods of time and just relax and meditate. Even though we wanted to stay longer and we had to cut our visit short because we don't like to leave our dog in the car, I'm so grateful that we stumbled upon this garden. It's honestly one of the most serene, beautiful and magical places I have been in a long time. I can't even imagine how beautiful it must be when everything is in bloom. There is a $5 donation requested to visit but it is well worth it. If you ever have a chance to visit this garden, don't pass it up.

The air smelled of flowers, and I had such a peaceful walk around the gardens. The cobra lilies were particularly unique and unlike any other flower I've seen before. One of the highlights for me in Acadia.
