The water was relatively calm which made for a nice day of sea kayaking. Casey was great with providing safety instructions before and during the trip. He was a wealth of information about the wildlife, geology of the area, and the history. It was like we had the ocean to ourselves. We saw a couple of bald eagles and tons of seals primarily harbor seals but several gray seals as well. Can't recommend this company enough. Kayak on the quiet side of the island. Kayak1 delivered to our doorstep. Because we prepaid via PayPal, we did not have to be at our rental when the kayaks showed up. We got a text saying everything was delivered. Included the kayaks, life vests, paddles, and dry bags. The equipment was great quality and even had metal rudders which we were not expecting. The six of us had no real issues in getting around and probably the biggest problem was getting them back up to dry land and they are heavy! Overall, we had a good time using the kayaks and the customer service was top of the line. We would recommend if you're in the area. $130 per tandem kayak for two days. $20 delivery charge. $410 total.

Rich took our family on a full day tour of Bar Harbor/Acadia. The kids are ages 7 and 9 and he…read moreadjusted the content of the tour based on the likes and dislikes of my kids that I described to him over the phone prior to arriving. We started the morning on 1+ hour hike through a spruce forest to arrive at the edge of a cove. Seals were in the water and birds in the distance. We literally didn't see a single other person on the hike which is incredible given that it was high season (August). It was a testament to Rich's knowledge of the island. We did visit Sieur de Monts Spring and did a flat loop walk on the long boardwalk trail which was also fairly deserted given its proximity to the tour buses pouring tourists out in front of the nature museum there. Lastly, we made a visit to a tidal pool where we spent a solid 2 hours in the water looking under every rock for starfish, crabs, sea anemones, sea urchins and snails galore. Rich knew each species and explained the good and the bad (green crabs -- invasive, not good; Jonah crabs - native, good) Rich did all of the driving and it made for a relaxing exposure to Bar Harbor/Acadia that we would've never been able to do as quickly on our own. Well worth the money.

We arrived an hour early which put us first in line and allowed us to pick out our seat. The boat seats were a little dated, but everything was clean. Plenty of emesis bags were available. They had some issues with the microphone, but made sure that everyone was educated on what to expect. Julie the expert was super knowledgeable about the ocean sea life and what to expect. She walked around answering questions. It took an hour to get out to our location. Some on the boat experience sea sickness. Our family cracked the window open and this seemed to help. We were fortunate enough to see Spoon the whale on several occasions without binoculars ( even up close when she popped up out of the water near the boat) . It was an experience of a lifetime for our family!!! We also saw a porpoise, seals, sea birds, and the light house. The trip back was smooth. They do offer a return trip voucher if you are unable to see a whale. We had a great first time whale watching experience.

For my birthday, we joined a whale watching tour in the Gulf of Maine.  We honestly weren't sure…read morewhat to expect but were blown away by getting to see 3 different types of whales (Humpback, Minke, Finback), with multiples of each type and also two blue sharks. The people that led our tour were knowledgeable and friendly and I also appreciated they had food and drinks onboard for sale (and single serve dramamine). We had a hot dog, their ocean gin drink, and a blueberry harbor ale and couldn't have had a better time. Make sure to get there early as the most in demand seats on top of the boat were full after they let the people waiting in line early on the boat. I'd say we got there 30 minutes earlier than needed and got some of the best seats but there weren't many left. There is a shop with good coffee close so you can have one person hold your spot in line while others do that. Dress warmer than you think you need: we ended up wearing long sleeve shirts and pants with jackets and beanies and it wasn't a rough or especially cold day at sea and closer to 70 degrees on land. .

This is a new business at the same location as a previous one (Seascape Kayak and Bike). Before…read moreour visit we had read a story online about the woman who owned Seascape and a couple of years ago had to close it. Luckily, a young lady who worked for the previous owner recently re-opened for business. Her name is Skye and she (and her dog Rosie) are running the place with the help of her father (who we met while Skye was out on a kayak tour). She is very energetic and knowledgeable about the area. The shop is located right outside of Acadia National Park on the Schoodic peninsula side. There is great biking on the peninsula with plenty to see along the way - much less crowded than the main part of the park and just as beautiful.

We had a beautiful e bike ride along Scoodic Peninsula. The bikes were great and easy to use. We…read morehad taken the ferry over from bar harbor and walked the 15 minutes to the shop instead of taking the free shuttle. The bikes are not delivered to the ferry but that was not a problem. The bike route is full of incredible views. We stopped frequently to take pictures. There was not much traffic. If you take the bike path across the peninsula, be aware that it is a heavy gravel path with some steep winding curves and downhills. Even as experienced cyclists, we decided to walk that part. There are 2 restaurants on the loop but unfortunately both were closed on Mondays. However we found another restaurant once we returned the bikes. It was a great day.
