The culture is great, everyone makes it point to learn your name and get to know you. They take lessons at your pace. If you can only make it once week and learning is slow, it's no problem. If you want to go everyday and roll you can. Master Kim-- Jeff, really makes a huge difference as well. He instructs a variety of other martial arts such as Judo and Kyuki-do. He really is a master of multiple arts and it comes through in the self defense and jiu jitsu classes. He has obviously been teaching for a very long time and knows how to structure a class and explain and demonstrate concepts in understandable way. If you have been rolling for years or its your first time I guarantee you will improve! When I told him I had to relocate across they country, Jeff spent a lot of extra time reviewing and getting me through to my last test, you can tell he very much cares about your progress. They also offer Muay Thai classes and many people would double it up with the jiu jitsu classes-- not something I did but the guys who did do it got a great work out. If you have researched other classes you may think that this school limits you by making you focus on certain set of self-defense skills but I have rolled at A LOT of other gyms since I have left (as a 4 stripe white belt) and it has been extremely easy to transition to other gyms and see that those moves they make you learn are ESSENTIAL! Some schools tend to jump all over the board on skills which can be very confusing for a new student. If you are at all interested in the martial arts or getting a good workout, check out this gym. They really do help you to reach the goals you want even going out of their way to do so.

Eventually a heavy set man came out of his office and started shouting commands, I think once he realized that there was some one else watching that was new. There were a few parents sitting on a bench which seemed a little tacky. I had asked one of the parents what they were paying and could not justify paying the cost that was mentioned for such a bland looking facility. There was very little energy. I have 2 kids that are very interested in getting involved in martial arts and we found a great place in St. Charles that has a totally different energy when you walk in. My advice is this is not the place for your kids or even as an adult which it looked liked both kids and adults were together, very odd.

LGN Performance is THE best gym I have ever attended. All the workouts are designed in a group…read moreclass format and consist of circuits with exercises that focus on strength, agility, speed and flexibility. The group classes make it so you have constant encouragement and motivation and coaches who can monitor and guide you as you go. The coaches are experts who will scaled anything down or up based on your ability or injuries. Safety and proper technique are a priority with all the coaches. They will fix your technique until you are doing the moves properly: you then realize how much better and more safely you are performing. I got faster, stronger and I learned so many new exercises that kept me from getting bored and that got me to whole new level of fitness. Everyone encourages each other, you'll never be in a class where you don't hear motivating, encouraging words and cheering from the other members. There's always a great mix of levels so you can find others with similar abilities, but it really doesn't matter what your level is as long as you try and are willing to learn. The cool thing about LGN is that they also offer spin classes. Tina, one of the coaches, leads the spin classes and they are AWESOME. I've taken spin at about 6 different gyms and this is by far my favorite one. It's not fancy- but Tina has excellent taste in music that keeps you going until the last minute and she varies the workouts to push you juuuuust to the last ounce of energy you have and then back down to recover. She has endless energy and is super knowledgeable about anything fitness-related. I moved to Chicago so I unfortunately had to stop going to LGN (I honestly did keep going for a while because that's how much I loved it, but the commute was too much). The facility is kept clean and the equipment is top notch. The coaches at Crossfit LGN are phenomenal. Each one is very well trained in both exercise and nutrition. They are more than willing to answer your questions about the exercises, stretching or proper nutrition and they always make you feel welcome. Since joining Crossfit LGN my Olympic weight lifting has greatly improved, running has become easier and my Crossfit workouts are getting faster. The people that workout here are the best. Always friendly, supportive and driven. They really help push you when you need it during those tough Crossfit workouts!
