This school teaches real life skills, encourages dual enrollment in college, and has small class sizes. She's been in school for 4 months and honestly loves going and has learned so much.

My daughter was given the opportunity this first year to connect with the community through various volunteer and community service oriented projects.  She also got to take dual enrollment classes through American River College.  She also job shadowed at S.M.U.D and Flint Construction to gain valuable job experience.  She also got to participate in soccer, basketball, and track.  My daughter loves this school as they get to learn in teams and through hands-on experiences, instead of book only learning which can make students fail to stay engaged.  There are also many opportunities provided for field trips, school events, and enrichment.  The students even took a trip to Chinatown to immerse in the culture and practice their mandarin. The school promotes good values and has a strong focus on taking accountability.  Students attended job fairs, community events, and even got to do a first semester celebration snow trip.  The end of the year activities included a week of informational and engaging activities with community partners as well as a field trip to Velocity Aqua Park.  All of the teachers and staff at the school think outside the box and provide excellent support to the students.  Whether students are extremely strong students and need more challenging content or struggle and need academic support this school will provide it. I am excited to be returning for our second year here next month!

A Safe Space, A Powerhouse Studio, and a True Gem in Sacramento…read more I discovered Rise Pole Fitness in December 2024, and it quickly became one of the best parts of my life since moving to Sacramento in July 2024. From the moment I stepped through their doors, I felt welcomed, seen, and genuinely supported. The owner, the instructors, the environment ; Everything about this place is special. Rise is the only space in Sacramento where I've truly felt embraced for who I am, regardless of size, race, gender, or background. There is no judgment here, just real people creating a space where everyone is free to grow, express themselves, and feel confident. That kind of energy is rare, and it's something I deeply appreciate. They offer an insane variety of classes and workshops, each one designed to challenge and uplift you. The workshops often feature notable names from the pole industry, which adds to the value and excitement of being part of this studio. The instructors are all incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and skilled, and they know how to guide you no matter your starting point. Their boutique is next-level. They carry everything you could need for a class: knee pads, grip solutions, pleasers, outfits, accessories -- you name it. They have a wide range of Pleaser shoes and some of the baddest, most high-quality gear on the market. You can walk in and walk out ready to feel like the baddest bitch on the floor -- and that feeling is everything. I've only been to the Sacramento location (twice so far!), but I already love it here. I have a six-class pass that I'm excited to keep using because every time I go, I leave feeling more empowered, confident, and connected to myself. I haven't made many friends here in Sacramento yet -- it's been a lonely transition -- but Rise is the one place where I've truly felt happy. It's the only place I've found myself willingly going back to, again and again. More than just a fitness studio, Rise Pole Fitness is a community. A place to build confidence, grow as an individual, and maybe even find friendships and connections that last. If you've ever thought about trying pole fitness -- or just need a space where you can feel powerful and accepted -- go to Rise. You won't regret it.

They have two locations, one of which is in Roseville. I was visiting for a few days and took a class with the owner Kelly, who is extraordinarily talented and kind. She made me feel so welcome, and I even bought a bunch of high quality clothes from their boutique between classes. Can't wait to come back here again and continue following their journey on Instagram.

Thank you to Y&G for providing one of the best experiences of my life…read more All year, you train to emulate a fully functional state government for five days in Sacramento. Delegates use REAL Capital court rooms and board rooms. They dress and play the part of senators, congresspeople, governor, lt. governor, NIA, judges, education board, reporters, lobbyists, and so forth. They receive coaching from people who have careers in media and politics and speech as well. It's amazing. I'm glad I found Y&G at the point of my life that I did. I was coming out of a dark time and Y&G filled a void that the rest of everything going on in my life couldn't. I was a reporter my first year and a lobbyist my second. Some funny things I have done in my time with Y&G - invited a senator to a fancy luncheon as a lobbyist, use someone's argument against them in an article I wrote, scoffed at an abrasive interview by an unfavorable reporter given to my good friend as candidate for governor, gotten in intense arguments on the floor with my opposing PAC trying to persuade a senate committee. It's intense. This program is constantly evolving. They now have political parties delegates can subscribe to. Those at Y&G are doing a great job enhancing the experience of delegates. I am in no way rich. Y&G was an expensive experience - $900 (much more for delegates who pay for more expensive transportation to Camp Roberts and Sacramento). But the board gave me a hefty scholarship both years which allowed me to afford my way to Sacramento. In the amount of time I spent at Y&G I learned so many skills. Public speaking, networking, people skills, and how to research and construct a very persuasive dialogue. The people I met have a great effect on my life. If you have a teen entering high school, run to the nearest YMCA and sign them up for Y&G as soon as they are eligible. If you have a child in middle school, run to the nearest YMCA to sign them up for Model United Nations. MUN people go on to do Y&G and I wish I had discovered these great programs sooner.

This is one of the best programs available to middle school and high school students. I went…read morethrough the program several years ago and it was a life changing experience. It was the catalyst that allowed me to convert the things I learned in school into real world actions that make a difference. The program was engaging, taught values, and encourages leadership not only in schools, but everyday life as well. Awesome program!

He started the morning off an hour or so late saying he "ran out of gas". The day continued on with David Jones going totally off topic, being plain rude to my employees, disrespectful and talking about porn sites and dating websites. David also, yelled at one of the teachers just for coughing. He tried to make one of my teacher touch a snake head. She made it clear to him she was scared. Many of my employees had said they didn't like him at our lunch break. We gave him coffee and fed him lunch. I called American Red Cross the Monday after our class and made a complaint. because he is contracted through them. It is now April and we realized we never received our certificates. They told me to call him directly. I knew it would go bad. He seems nice on the phone but back stabs. He canceled our certifications because of the complaint. And when I called him he said he knows why. And said it was because two of my employees gave him a bad review. Wow David. Not professional at all. If I were you I would NOT use this man or his business.
