Paul Keller, the owner, and all of the Sensei's, are extremely compassionate and dedicated to every student. They have a wonderfully thought out program for kids, that encourages the students to do their best, not only at the dojo, but also within their school, community and home life. Students can earn "Victory" patches to sew on their Gi(uniform), by completing school homework, reading, helping out at home, practicing karate outside of the dojo, doing good deeds in the community, sponsoring another student, etc. My daughter enjoys her karate training, and her dedication to it, has greatly improved her home, school, and other extracurricular activities. I've watched her become more focused, grounded, determined and a better listener. My 3 year old son, is so excited to start his karate training when he turns 4. He loves watching his sissy in class and being at the dojo. Not only do they offer karate classes for the whole family, they also offer Tai Chi, Women's Self Defense, Mixed Martial Arts and Mat Pilates classes. I take Pilates here twice a week from a phenomenal teacher, Alli Breen, a classically trained Pilates instructor. I cannot praise her enough and her dedication to the art of Pilates! We are truly blessed to have such a phenomenal school in our community!

My daughter has Down syndrome, needs instruction to develop better focus, discipline, physical agility, and most importantly community and inclusion. The time that Miss Liz spent with myself and my daughter has become absolutely invaluable, as she opened her arms (literally) and excepted my daughter fully and completely without any hesitation, something that does not happen often enough in our world with children and people who have disabilities. We moved to the Murray Hill area in 2001 and have been part of this community ever since. In January 2008 our little angel was born at 23 weeks and four days, making her the second lightest child to survive at Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital. She has struggled and I have fought the local school district for inclusion, have been to mediation trials, as well as a due process hearings and have won all hearings through the courts; yet, the school district continues to not include her in the mainstream environment. To have her accepted and embraced by Ms Liz, again is highly unexpected for a parent of a child with a disability. I will forever be indebted to Murrayhill Martial Arts for their openness and willingness to fully accept, embrace and include my little angel in their community. Very grateful father.

The krav maga and kickboxing classes I took were both excellent…read more I got critiqued mainly for 'not being aggressive enough' toward my punching bag, and they helped me learn what to do if someone aggressive were attacking me. The owner, some Lynn? who I have never met that I know of, refunded the 2.5 month all inclusive membership I had paid but didn't tell me. I found out today after driving an hour in rush hour traffic (with asthma - I was quite tired), when they told me the owner 'felt I was a danger'. They would not tell me why. So, if I can't go to class, this is kind of a 1 star place. I'm 5'6", 140lb, 54 years old, with asthmas, and the only martial art I know is tai chi which is 100% defensive. Why the owner thinks I am a danger I have no clue. The current teacher said that the owner also cited me for not following instructions... which is also mysterious since I did everything asked of me including following in with their rather low energy warm-up routines. So I'm afraid I can't recommend this establishment, even though Ryan and Brian are very excellent Krav Maga teachers.
