Don't get caught....!
I first hired a car back in May for 3 days and when I was paying and picking up the vehicle they asked for a credit card deposit of $500 made up of two separate amounts of $250 and they use this old visa swipe machine to get imprint only.
6 weeks later I went to hire a car again and same thing though I used my other credit card as a deposit this time. As I was called away for work I extended the rental. I arranged to drop the vehicle back outside business hours early one morning.
I never heard from Kevin or Brook who run the rental side of the business. The outstanding amount for my rental was taken from my credit card. Not a problem at all.
A week later I noticed there was two amounts for $250 total $500 on my MasterCard and I also noticed another two amounts of $250 totally $500 from my Visa card I used on a previous rental 6 weeks before. I called my bank who told me to contact Acacia Car Rentals.
I was told that they found a small dent on the bonnet of the car and scratches on the plastic hub caps. We are talking about a Nissan Micro and I am used to a much larger car and never scrape gutters when parking.
They saw an opportunity to defraud me and miss use my Credit Card details from a different transaction 6 weeks prior. Normally you would expect the carbon copy of customers credit card details should be destroyed after the rental contract is closed and full paid.
It's very clear these back yard so called business people are very shonky. Stay clear and for the price of a Nissan Micro @ $50 per day with all these stupid restrictions you can go to Hertz or other major rental companies and get a new commodore for $42 per day. Also you know your credit card details will be safe with a professional company who take deposits/bonds using EFTPOS facility.
STAY CLEAR AND IF YOU HAVE RENTED FROM THESE GUY's GO BACK AND ASKED FOR YOUR CREDIT CARD VOUCHER CARBON COPY BACK BEFORE YOUR DETAILS ARE MISS USED. read more
