The gallery is located in a very grand, very beautiful Beaux-Arts townhouse on East 64th. It's so beautiful, the building itself is a highlight of any visit to the gallery. But the exhibits when I visited were great, too. I was able to see two exhibits during my visit on Saturday. "The Adventure of Domenico Gnoli," the exhibit I read about in the Times, closes on May 23, 2026. It's the largest exhibit of the artist's works in the United States in more than 5 decades (since his solo show in NYC in 1969). (Gnoli died of cancer at age 36 in 1970, so he only produced ~ 150 paintings in his short life.) The other exhibit I saw (you have to take an elevator from the second floor) was Armig Santos: Baladas, which closes on June 13. I appreciate the clean look of the galleries, which they are able to achieve by not having any wall labels by the pieces. They do have a few printed gallery guides at the desk where you enter that you can grab or you can scan QR codes on the wall as you enter each gallery. But I did miss the additional context and information that other galleries and museums include at the beginning of and throughout an exhibit. Still, the galleries are beautiful, and the works were very interesting. The Gnoli works surprised me and made me smile. And I appreciated learning about Armig Santos, a very young artist from Puerto Rico. It's a beautiful gallery with some great exhibits. I enjoyed my visit and have already signed up for their email list so I can visit upcoming shows!

This time the show focuses on New York art in the 80s, highlighting Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and over 20 more artists. Some things you can expect--Basquiat's pieces bursting at the seams with color, accompanying dark social undertones. Andy Warhol's pop art portraits of himself. Keith Haring's chunky shapes and figures. There are paintings, sculptures and multi-media pieces, as well as photographs (some a little alarming, like how old is that naked person, were they old enough to give consent?!). All the pieces are edgy, raw, colorful, just like the 80s. While there is a virtual guide to tell you which artist created which piece, there is not history or explanation, and that's a little frustrating for some of the more abstract or controversial pieces. This gallery has now impressed me twice in a short period of time, so it'll be on my regular rotation list to check out every time I'm on museum row.

So will likely not come back for any of its events. That said, as a studio itself - it's very informative and easy to digest. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the founder's studio next door. A sight to be seen & will be bringing my tourists' friends back. Strongly recommend the studio.

The beer was like $9 thats super insane to me for a 4.7% can but thats the world we live in. The little store that they have for their merch has a great selection. I wanted to look around but it is super packed. Fun fact my father attended this school back in the 50s, wild times. Make sure you check out their basement, you wont be disappointed.

Walking through the halls bring back flashbacks of school. Yikes. Thank goodness no detention for me. Started on the third floor which someone recommended and go down the various floors. Sorry folks- I just don't get it. Yes, it's contemporary art with the kitchen sink thrown in. No rhyme nor reason how things are placed out and displayed. There were sections and corridors but miss the connection or its all a disconnect and chaos. We- the beholder figures it out by ourselves I suppose. I try to look at the tabs with description to get a better understanding of what the artist is trying to tell us. Trying to figure out what is the meaning of your masterpiece. There are gender neutral restroom on every floor. So do not be surprise when both women go on line and come out of the bathroom. All of the sudden rain and thunder everyone from the Summer Fest comes into the museum for safety. Staff directs everyone to the second floor which is a huge room (Auditorium or Gym) people waiting for the thunderstorm to dissipate. It get so hot and humid with all the body heat but it's better than standing out in the hallway. Staff trying to figure out which exit to let out patrons. Yes, I would come back again to MoMA PS1 again. Cause displays of various exhibits do change.

When you go in, they advise you to view the exhibition in the order of going from the higher floors to the lower ones. The lowest floor was the absolute best and is where more than 85% of where my posted photos were from (due to this and me feeling like there was only 1 realllyyyy good floor, I thought of rating this 4, but I decided against it). I loved the art and I loved the descriptions of the art even more. The museum is a "pay what you can" and they have prices as ticket suggestions. The book store AKA gift shop that is included with the museum is great! Unfortunately I didn't take any pics as I was too involved in touching and looking at everything for myself. The current exhibition is great and I look forward to the future ones. The current exhibition will remain until February 28, 2027. I will def be going back to make a few purchases at the book/gift shop!

My friends and family started early with a museum visit. I'm highly recommending you visit either during Harlem Week or any time. I have to admit I was not familiar with this Museum established in 1968. The artists were not familiar names to me. It was definitely enjoyable being in an atmosphere abounding in creative exhibits. My main recommendation is to check out the website first to see if you are open to the experience. If you decide to go buy your tickets in advance. My friend had our tickets. I enjoyed her enthusiasm as she writes stage plays. Enjoy!
