    I had American replace my a/c in December 2022. July 6 2025 the a/c stopped working. The unit at…read morefirst would work on and off. The outside unit would make a dragging noise on and off and the inside unit would rattle. On July 8 they sent a contractor out. He didn't speak English and he spent a total of 12 minutes in the house. He went to the outside unit, came back in and told us the unit was running. I asked what the issue was and he couldn't give me a precise answer. He simply said that it could've been that we had a short in the breaker or I was pushing the thermostat buttons too fast. I called the company and they sent 2 other company techs the next day. They found a faulty TXV valve which needed to be replaced. It was under warranty but I had to pay for the freon. Cost me $900. However the valve had to be ordered. From calling for service on the 7th to getting it repaired on the 14th, we were living in a home with air temperature of 98 degrees. On 14th it was repaired at 5 pm. House cooled down to 75 degree by 8 pm. But at 8:45 pm the temperature began to rise to 87 degrees. I placed the service call and was told it would be marked urgent. Next morning I called an hour after they opened to ask if my service call had been received. I was told yes and I would be the first call of the day. The a/c had been cooling again but I wanted it checked just to be sure. It is now 5 pm, American closes at 6 and no one has shown to check my unit. I will be checking with Maytag to see if warranty will be honored if I use a company other than the one that installed it.

Well I asked a simple question which was the most important part of purchasing. I asked what's it going to cost us? One of the reps said well we have to run credit to give you price. Hmmm odd. Purchase price has nothing to do with credit worthiness. So we agreed and ran credit and I still asked what's the purchase price. No answer, a third guy name Mario aka Supervisor comes in and asks if everything was ok. I said so far it's fine. He runs the finance number which were 3 different terms with variable interest rates. Still no purchase price. Although he was quick to say let's sign contracts! I said hold on we need time to think this over it's a major purchase. Guy was persistent that they were the best and we would get $1,000 right away. I did the math and to our surprise it was an outrageous total price. What was upsetting after they left and I told Mario I would call him back they went back to pressure my mother to sign contract and offered her some pots and pans that according to them were worth $1000!!! Are you kidding me!!! 11 years (9%) x $90=$11,790 5.2 years (7%) x $144=8,928 3.1 years (5%) x $216=$7,992 BUYER BEWARE DON'T sign the contract until you understand the purchase price and other terms and conditions. Don't be fooled by cheap gimmicks ask questions shop around!!!

I didn't think anything on South Texas could freeze but I was wrong lol. I looked up many different companies to help service my issue. I've used large companies in the past and honestly they were expensive and I had really bad experiences. I decided I wanted to go with a smaller operation to ensure a much more personable experience. When I called, I went directly to the owners cell phone whi h was nice. After asking some initial questions to get an idea of the issue he stated they'd be over shortly. He wasn't kidding. What felt like no time at all, I was then greeted by two very personable gentleman who were friendly, professional, funny and went step by step to ensure they diagnosed by issue properly and verify there were no additional issues. They even took the time to verify my A/C warranty. I thought I only had 5 years but to my surprise they confirmed I actually had 10 years. They ordered the part, pi led.it up and installed it all same day! This was a relief, the day it broke was the hottest it has been in a while. I also learned a lot and felt that they provided me an education as they walked me through the entire process step-by-step. This made me feel much better and more confident iny choosing them as a company. I would highly recommend them for anyone else looking for A/C work, especially if you want to support your small business owners as I do.

I called Colair and I was able to get an appointment the same day I called. Technician Eddie Ramirez arrived at my home on time and as promised. Eddie greated me with a smile and a firm handshake. Im old school, so the firm handshake and eye to eye contact told me a lot about Eddie and I didnt even know him. Eddie asked me a few questions about my issue and explained to me in detail what he was going to do. Eddie went to work right away. Eddie's work ethic was thorough and professional. Eddie told me exactly what the problem was and showed me photos and a video of what he observed. To show me a video and pictures of the problem was exceptional customer service. Eddie could of walked in and told me anything but I could tell Eddie was proud of the company he was representing. Drum roll. Eddie showed me the bill to repair the problem. I was really hoping the matter was not major. The estimate was very reasonable and normally I would have no issues paying the cost for the repair. I explained to Eddie I was having a hard time due to the government shutdown. I had to wait until the boss, my wife, came home to see what we could. All kidding aside, Eddie gave me so many options to pay. Eddie talked me through every payment option the company had. I felt Eddie was real and was truly looking out for me, the customer. Eddie said he would also discuss the matter with his manager so I could get the best deal/price. My wife and I were able to get an excellent price and a payment plan we could afford. The kind of payment plan that doesn't keep you up all night. Sometimes when you write a review for someone like Eddie, you really cant express in words how the person made you feel. Eddie made me feel the repairs would be completed in a professional, timely manner, because Eddie was going to do the job. I had trust in Eddie from the time he shook my hand. Eddie represented Colair in such away that I will be a customer for life. Eddie impressed me that much. To be so young but so courteous, well mannered, and professional is a hard quality to find. I had an AC issue at one of my properties in McAllen and chose Colair based on their strong reviews. I spoke with Sarah, their receptionist or dispatcher, who told me a technician could come out but that there would be a $99 diagnostic fee. I pointed out that their website clearly states they offer free quotes. She acknowledged this and confirmed the $99 would be waived. Based on that, I agreed to move forward. Later that day, at the very end of the workday, conveniently, I got a call from a tech named Fabian. He told me he was about 20 minutes out but brought up the $99 fee again. I reminded him that Sarah had waived it, but he insisted that was a mistake and they don't waive that fee. I asked how that could be a misunderstanding when it's clearly advertised on their own website. He wouldn't budge and refused to honor what was originally promised. At that point, I canceled the appointment. If a company can't stand behind what they say before even stepping foot on the property, I don't want to find out what other bait and switch tactics might follow once they're working on my equipment. It's not about the $99, it's about the principle. I waited an entire day for nothing, only to be told the original agreement wouldn't be honored. I never got the chance to see the quality of their work, so I can't speak to that. But if you value working with companies that are honest, professional, and stick to their word, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Colair lost out on much more than $99, because I was ready to bring them ongoing business. I own several properties and businesses in the area. Unfortunately, they chose short-term thinking over long-term relationships. 1 star, unprofessional and disappointing.
