A machinist is someone who proficiently operates machine tools, and has the ability to set up tools such as milling machines, grinders, lathes, and drilling machines and are competent and have the ability to correctly use precision measuring instruments, interpret blueprints, and a working knowledge of the proper parameters required for successfully utilizing the various tools commonly used in machining operations. I recently had a mechanical failure on one of the slide-outs on my MotorCoach, the dealership is usually at the mercy of the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) to supply the parts so the repairs can be made. In this case all the parts required to make the repairs were not immediately available and this cause an extended amount of downtime - after weeks of the dealership chasing the problem I decided to step in and find the solution using my professional network of suppliers. After getting the broken part in my hands that couldn't be source for months due to incompetence, supply chain issue and a host of other excuses. I contacted Ken at KJ Consulting who has a proven track record of providing machining solutions in a timely manner. The OEM and Dealership failed miserably and couldn't give me a reasonable date for the part to arrive even after 45 days, after getting the failed part to Ken and answering a few questions on the application he machined this part in 3 1/2 hours - although this may seem like magic to some in my world this is how professionals operate.
