Jesse not only replaced the button, but noticed that my disk was running slow and was hot, so he replaced it with a solid state drive. He also cleaned all the pet hair from the system, so it came home looking new. The process took nearly 10 days, but only because ordering the power button took a week. Jesse had explained my options and let me decide if I wanted to replace my disk or hope the current one would last another year or more. When I decided to go ahead with the solid state disk, he migrated the old drive's contents to the new drive and returned the old drive with the system so that I bury it properly! ;-) My computer works great now -- all my apps, documents and settings are intact, but it runs faster and is, once again, easy to boot!

I was one of the first to sign up with…read moreVisuallink when it first came to Winchester, Frederick, Clarke in Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle counties of West Virginia. It was dial-up and really, really slow. But then, for their rural customers, they introduced wireless via a radio tower and things improved - except for reliability. It would regularly go down for days and if it went down on a weekend, it wasn't until Monday when you could call and talk to someone. Otherwise, you had to leave a message which seldom got a response. (You will see this complaint about Visuallink a lot). And then there was (and is) email. Wow, since the beginning of the year, 2022, this has been a colossal disaster. The home website used to have a tab to click that would take you to your email, but they "migrated" to Zimbra (whoever they are) and for a month or more, I couldn't get email because there were no instructions, tabs, links, etc. to click on to get it. Then I wrote a complaint that opened a service ticket to deal with my question of how to access my email. The response was "We forgot" to add the tab to click to get email. That was four months ago, and the tab or link still isn't there. One must go to the URL address bar and type in "mail@visuallink.com." Then they sent a bill of $22.50 per quarter for my email "service." BUT they didn't tell me or anyone that you need to create a whole new account to log on to visuallink to pay. In other words, when you click on "pay your bill" you can't just put in your usual username and password; you have to create a whole new password and then remember it (how many passwords do you have and can you remember all of them?) BUT the website doesn't tell you this. SO, I tried to create a payment access and I had to get a temporary password from them to create a password. Guess what? I tried at least 4 times but it couldn't/wouldn't send me a password. Then I got an overdue notice. So, desperately, I mailed my payment, overdue fee and all, to their old physical address that was shut down in late 2021, though no one was told it was going to be shuttered. At that point I began migrating my email to another platform. As everyone knows, that takes time to contact everyone. Then I got another bill, and again, opened up a service ticket and was told just to snail mail it to the "owner's" personal address. That done, I got an overdue notice and fee once again. Well, my saga is just about over. I think I have contacted everyone I want to have my new email address though I will monitor visuallink to see if there are any latecomers who need to know my new address. After I am satisfied that all contacts have been switched, then it is goodbye to Visuallink. I advise you to say the same.

A couple days later, their Apple specialist told me that the serial # on my computer indicated that it was obsolete by Apple's standards, so couldn't be serviced. I asked him to at least open the back to check the diagnostic LED lights, but then I called back within a half hour to ask him to not do anything, I'd just pick it up before they closed that day. It still cost me $136 (and the computer self-corrected after I got it home that evening!); the tech said that he hadn't actually opened the back (he'd been about to do it when I called back to cancel my work request), so I'm not sure how whatever little he did do added up to $136 in charges, even allowing for the time he spent thinking about the problem and looking up the serial # information; the minimum charges any service business might have, etc.. From what he told me, no actual physical work was done aside from plugging the machine in to confirm my service issue that it wouldn't come on.
