It's funny to me that the complaints are that this tattoo shop won't give a crappy tattoo. I applaud them for that. I have had two tattoos here. One by Joseph and one by Stella. Both look great. It is clear that they are both artists. They took their time with placement and did good clean work. They clearly care about their reputation. If you want a crappy tattoo I am sure some place in town will do it for you. If you want a good tattoo go to Abyss. read more

I would highly recommend this tattoo shop! I came in and asked for a goldfish with an umbrella in American traditional style. They absolutely will do tattoos that aren't on the wall, and they can do pretty much any style of tattoo. I like that they take pride in their work, and I was so happy with it that I am actually coming back this weekend for another one. He got it drawn in 15 minutes and he completed it in 45. It is clear that the artists are skilled, and I like that I was able to walk in and have it done with no hold ups. I thought the customer service was great, and I like that they are so upfront about what is possible and how something is likely to turn out. He took his time with the placement, and it fits in perfectly with the rest of my tattoos. I have a picture of it here, I just took the wrap off yesterday (by the way, the aftercare is very good), so if it looks kind of dry that's because I also forgot to moisturize it. read more

I absolutely love Abyss! I had been wanting to get a half-sleeve done for a while now but was pretty picky about who I'd let do it. One of my co-workers got a sleeve done by J.D. at Abyss and I was blown away by the work. The shading alone is absolutely incredible. That's when I knew I had to have J.D. do my half-sleeve. I told him the three elements that I wanted in the sleeve but had no idea how they would go together. We set a date and when I came in, he showed me his idea and it was beautiful. I jumped in the chair and 4 hours later, we were 90% done. I have to go back in for final detail work and I can't wait. What I have right now is amazing - I can't wait to see what J.D. does with the final work. Great group of people at Abyss. They genuinely care deeply for their craft and their customers. The first guy I came into contact with was a super nice guy. I told him what I wanted some really small turtle. Then he got a lady ( Stella) but she basically told me that it couldn't be done that small and I need to be bigger than what I wanted it and she couldn't do the detailing everything that I wanted. IMy husband and I both got a very negative vibe from her. I ended up going to a different tattoo place and Emerson @ Odssey Tattoo took the time to draw one up and It was so adorable! He is absolutely fantastic! The energy at the best tattoo just was not good. The girl acted like if it wasn't something super fancy or she couldn't cover more of my body then what I was wanting done she wasn't truly interested. Not great customer service. Emerson diligently in quickly and with great color! And my husband left him a great tip for being such a nice guy and doing such a wonderful job. I would definitely go down to odyssey tattoo And have Emerson do your tattoo any day before especially Stella at this place! Kindness goes a long way! read more

I recently had a great experience at Abyss Tattoo to celebrate my wedding in Eureka Springs. With a small collection of images and ideas, I walked in and spoke with Joseph who was very excited to ink my first tattoo. He took my starting material and worked with me on the design until it was just right. Since my design was fairly elaborate, he stayed well past the normal operating hours to do a quality job. Throughout the process, he was very professional and knowledgeable. Oddly enough, my parents (who were fellow tattoo virgins) decided to swing by and get tattoos with me. To fit them in that night, he called up a fellow artist to come in and ink their tats. Abyss Tattoo went above and beyond for me and my family. I would gladly go there again! The facilities appeared to be clean and sanitary. I never once felt like it was a questionable place to get work done. Overall, I would highly recommend Abyss Tattoo. read more

The people that work at this place are extremely rude. We had four people wanting tattoos and they turned them all down except one. They claim they are artists and they don't want their name attached to something that they don't like. I feel like I should have a say since it will be on my body forever. I received a beautiful new tattoo from Stella this past weekend while visiting this fabulous little town! I contacted her over facebook after viewing her porfolio. She was quite prompt in responding to all of my questions and helpful with her suggestions to make sure that the piece turned out perfectly...which it did!! This shop does custom work only so the walls weren't covered in the usual preprinted generic tattoo ideas, instead they were covered with samples of each artists work in all different mediums. That was very refreshing! I would highly recommend this shop to anybody that is looking to get nice, quality work done while in Eureka Springs. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR TATTOO AT ABYSS TATTOO!!! ESPECIALLY BY "JD!" SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE! In December of 2012, we all took a journey up to Eureka Springs for the weekend. My girlfriend and a couple others decided to get tattoos so we went hunting for a parlor. We didn't actually like most of the parlors we came across, either they were limited in what they could do or they were just horribly rude which was out of the ordinary because the locals are usually amazingly friendly. Last but not least we come to Abyss. There were 3 people in there that all seemed friendly, skilled and confident. As the tattoos were done, we left satisfied. As some time passes by and it heals up, we notice some fading, some lines that were not quite connected and some spots that were not completely filled in. From a distance it looks fine, but close up it's very visible. We went up there in May of 2013 (the next time we were in Eureka Springs) and asked to speak to the guy that did it "JD" is his name. He was outside on the balcony so we went and ever so nicely asked if he did touch ups. He was slouched in a chair wearing unnecessary sunglasses and looked like he hated the world. I then thought to myself...a little too much to drink last night when you have work the next morning mate? In a very rude tone, he asked to see it. He very quickly glanced at it, still wearing his dark sunglasses and said, "Well...what's wrong with it?! I don't see anything wrong." Confused at his terrible reaction, we then began to point things out on the tattoo itself that we wanted to be touched up. Still rude as heck and still wearing sunglasses, not looking at us he began to bullcrap us by saying well it's going to be too dark in this area, it will make it look worse than it already does, "noooo, it's supposed to look like that, kind of faded into grey" *he continues to babble*...excuse me? Are you listening to yourself? I got the impression that he was trying to make my girlfriend look stupid, I very much so didn't appreciate that. So then he began to kind of shew us away. Wow, never have I experienced such a terrible customer service experience. If he was lazy and didn't want to do it, he should have just said he didn't have time because he drank too much the night before and was hungover instead of making stuff up lying to us, and trying to make us look dumb. DO NOT GO TO ABYSS TO GET A TATTOO!!! AND AGAIN, ESPECIALLY NOT FROM JD! HEED MY WARNING! read more
