He has a functional medicine side of his practice. The office clerk stopped me when I was leaving and told me I must pay $50 for my diagnosis of urinary incontinence. I told the clerk I did not have incontinence. She pointed to a tiny typed paper taped too high up on her glass window for anyone to read. She stated it was a list of diagnoses he regards as functional medicine. She insisted I pay the $50. I felt intimidated and paid the bill though the reported diagnosis was a lie. There was one bill sent by his office to my insurance company with codes. The bill I paid for $50 had no code. I reported this to Aetna/Medicare. Per Aetna, their grievance department and their fraud department have left phone messages at his office but gotten no return phone calls. I received a phone call from Aetna today and they told me they will continue to get to the bottom of this.

He was injecting himself sometimes 4 to 5 times a day to try to keep his blood sugar stable without any good results. My husband found him through our insurance and I truly believe Dr. Mahmaljy has improved his quality of life besides prolonging it. Dr. Mahmaljy is very personable, he has an excellent bedside manner. He is soft spoken and listens intently to your complaints and symptoms. He is inspirational that he will get your blood sugar within normal ranges which gives you hope. His knowledge of insulin and the various other medications that help diabetics is vast along with his knowledge of various medical products that deliver insulin. His office staff is friendly and efficient during the check out process. They know insurance co pays well. We haven't had any issues or complaints with Dr. Mahmaljy and his staff in all of the years my husband has been his patient which I believe is 8+ years. The half hour drive from our house twice a year for hubby's appointment is definitely worth it. It's not often that you find a physician of his caliber but we're lucky we found Dr. Mahmaljy!
