Terrances Heating & Air

Terrances Heating & Air

I needed a new AC unit for my townhome, and after having a few companies inspect my old unit, the…read morebest option was to replace it. I chose to work with Terrance because he was eager to secure my business and promised to complete the job quickly. To be clear, Terrance does not perform the work himself--he contracts everything out. He even lowered the price slightly, which seemed like a good deal at first. However, when it came time to pay, he added "taxes," which brought the price right back to what it was before he offered the discount. There was also no clear scheduling process, no courtesy calls, and no text notifications before workers arrived. For example, one day I came home from work and minutes later someone rang my doorbell saying they were there to take measurements--without any prior notice. When the installation took place, I was at work and again received no call to let me know what time to expect them. After the unit was installed on July 11, I had to follow up myself to ensure I had all necessary paperwork for warranty purposes. The installers also left behind a large box from packaging and what appeared to be a part from my old unit. Since installation, I have been trying to reach Terrance about follow-up concerns. I have sent multiple texts with no response and only received a reply after I called and left a message--18 days later. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Terrance. His business practices are extremely unprofessional, from poor communication to lack of customer follow-up. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a contractor who values professionalism and customer service.

I told them I wanted to get a second opinion and some additional quotes. Later, I discovered they had taken the power disconnect breaker with them and then blocked my number when I called to ask for its return. I ended up calling Smiley's Heating and Cooling, who saved the day. Turns out, the problem was simply a loose power line under the house. The first company had stolen my power disconnect, which I had to replace for $500. This company is nothing more than a group of con artists, more interested in selling a whole new system than actually fixing the issue. Avoid them at all costs.

Atlantic Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning - Our cul-de-sac

Atlantic Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning

10/31/2024: I had another great experience using Atlantic Plumbing HVAC this week. I contacted…read moreAtlantic Plumbing about a week ago after I had discovered a crack starting in the copper sewer drain pipe under the crawl space of my home. I made an appointment to have it looked at to see what my options might be. I could have had just a small section of the copper pipe removed and repaired, but decided since our brick rancher was built in 1964, that all of my copper drain pipes had seen their better days and selected to have them all changed out with PVC pipe. The cost to have what was needed to be done was $8,750, and it was worth every penny. The Atlantic Plumbing HVAC workers that came out to our home were Josh P. and Junior A. They did a great job. They changed out all my copper drain lines running between my washing machine, my kitchen sink, bathroom sink, shower and toilet. Its a lot of work to crawl around under a house to remove old plumbing and install new, they both earned every dollar for the work they did. This was my first time meeting Josh and Junior and I found them both friendly and a pleasure to deal with. They also answered the many questions I had and explained the process that this type of job required. I enjoyed talking to both of them and hope I deal with them again. Our little Yorkie, Tiger, usually barks at anyone who walks down the sidewalk in front of our house, and goes even crazier if they get close to our gate or front door. But this time Tiger did real good and didn't make a sound the whole time Josh and Junior worked in our home. I think dogs have a good sense of one's character which says something to me about these two guy the way he behaved. My wife and I were a little concerned how Tiger would be for the couple of days they were here, but it all worked out good and we were able to relax even better then we had expected. Thanks again guys for helping make one of my long time dreams come true while you were here. This is my 3rd time this year using Atlantic Plumbing at my home. The first time was back in March when I had a new 40 gallon Bradford White water heater installed. The 2nd time was for yearly scheduled maintenance on our HVAC gas pack, and this week having all the copper drain pipes replaced under the house. Each time, my wife and I have been 100% satisfied with the work performed. If I had to use one word to describe the quality of work that Atlantic Plumbing performs it would have to be "Outstanding." From the girls who take the phone calls for service and do the scheduling, to the workers who perform the various jobs, this company is top notch. I have dealt with a lot of home improvement and repair companies over my 41 years as a homeowner and my experience with dealing with Atlantic Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has been the best. Thanks again to everyone I dealt with this week. I couldn't be more happier with the work that was performed here and the final results. Thanks again everyone, Les, Candy and Tiger.

Since you want to act like I never had service from them. Here is the quote for the 80 dollar part…read morethat most places charge around 1200-1800 to fix. The entire coil price (4500ish) was for if the TVX couldn't be taken off, which it was two bolts so the coil replacement wasn't necessary. This could have been ID'd if the tech had removed the service panel and looked at the coil in the first place. So ultimately you were charging 3800ish dollars to replace a TVX which was a 80 dollar part. You wasted my time and kept my family in the heat for an additional week due to lack of communication. I got my system eventually fixed for 380 bucks ish, with nothing ID'd by your tech actually needing to be replaced. Thanks for nothing.

Pride Mechanical Heating & Cooling

Not gonna lie This…read morewas one of quickest and most pleasant home service calls I've ever had. My AC went down on Saturday. I called Pride Mechanical on Sunday and left a message on their non emergency voicemail. They called me first thing Monday morning, and we set up an appointment for a timeframe that worked with my fairly busy schedule for that day. Really convenient. Got a text saying they were on their way about 5 minutes after the 3 hour appointment window started. They were at my home in like 20 minutes after receiving the text. The inside of my house was kind of messy, but they didn't even need to come inside. They were able to go straight to my units and start their diagnostics less than 3 minutes after arriving at my home. Within about 15 minutes they had successfully figured out and fixed the problem. I could not have asked for a better experience. I was very grateful and impressed. The technicians were polite, friendly (and not aggressively friendly if you know what I mean), and did a great job discussing my HVAC system and answering my questions without getting overly technical or insulting my intelligence by being overly basic. As AC repair experiences go, this was the best I've ever had. The speed of service and professionalism was first class all the way.

I have a pregnant wife, a 3 year old, a dog, a cat, and an R-32 HVAC system, installed brand new in 2024, that is still under warranty. It's leaking refrigerant, causing both the air handler and condenser to build up with ice. I called Kearny and Son's and they had a tech out the next day. He confirmed the isue was related to a faulty component that would need to be replaced, and I was quoted for around $1600 in repairs. I wasn't given an exact date, but I was given a loose estimate of about a week to the installation. I also signed up for their membership since that would waive the $90 diagnostic fee, provide bi-annual maintenance on my system, and provide me two window AC units to use while I waited. I paid half up front. After a few days, I get a call from the office telling me that the part they needed wasn't in stock and that they'd need to order it, which would run me an addition $200. Fine. About a week later, I receive another call from the office telling me that the part has not arrived, the installation is delayed, and they no longer have an ETA. Now I'm frustrated because I feel like I was lied to. Why would they take on the job knowing it could take several weeks to even get the part? I ask the rep on the phone if I can have the name of the part and to cancel the order because I'd like to see if another company in the area has it in stock to help me sooner. Afterall, it's July, and I'm hot. The rep tried to tell me that it would be very unlikely for another company have the part in stock since they quote, "all go through the same vendor for parts". This response made no sense to me. I just wanted to see if someone else had the part sitting on a shelf somewhere. I wasn't trying to see if someone else could somehow order it quicker. Ultimately I think this was just the rep trying to dissaude me from going to a competitor. I also asked if they'd be willing to waive the $200 shipping fee for my troubles, to which the answer was essentially, "probably not but I'll ask". I called around to other HVAC servicing companies in the area, none of which had the part in stock, but who all agreed that it was strange Kearny and Son's would take on the job without having the necessary equipment in stock in the first place. Go figure. The next day I called the office back around 4pm to see what the verdict was on waiving the $200 shipping fee. The rep, who was the same woman I spoke with prior, told me that she hadn't actually asked yet. We ended the call, and maybe an hour later I got a call back telling me that the asnwer was no. The following week, the part finally arrived (~2wks since the initial appointment). The tech replaces the part and things seem to work. However, 3 days later, I see ice buildup on the machine again. I call to have emergency service, which I explicitly pay for. The tech tells me they're tied up but can probably come check it out between 12-1pm. The window passes and I'm not able to get in contact with the tech until almost 2pm. The tech tells me that he won't be able to get out until almost 8pm and that I should just call in the morning to have someone come out during normal business hours. The next morning I call shortly after they open. A new rep tells me that they can get someone to come out to me the following day, or if needed, today after business hours around 5pm. I get pretty upset and I give the rep a distillation of everything that's going on, hoping for some sympathy or understanding. The rep simply repeats herself, and I begrudgingly agree to have someone come out the same day after business hours. Before we end the call, I ask to see if the tech that they dispatch to my address can be the same one whose been servicing my system this whole time since he will already know what's going on. The rep on the phone, for whatever reason, feels it's appropriate to tell me that he's not available because his child is in the hospital, which I assume was meant to make me feel bad for getting upset. All in all, working with Kearny and Son's has been nothing short of a nightmare. It seems like they're really busy. I understand that I am not their only customer. What I don't understand is why they took on my case if they fundamentally lack the resources to help me. They took $1800 and 3 weeks of my life and I have no resolution. This is too much.
