At the last minute they pulled the rug from under our feet and put us on a waitlist. They kept on leading us to believe that our child's admission was pretty much done. I interacted with multiple folks in their office but later realized they enrolled more number of students than what they can actually intake and then they put you on a waitlist. They do a decent job of selling their institution. Well it was an unpleasant learning experience for us as they did not make it transparent! Anyways we were unceremoniously added to a waitlist. After a few weeks they emailed us that a spot had opened up. I enrolled my child as I was still interested. Within 2 weeks of enrolling we found that their after school person does not work collaboratively with parents or maybe works selectively with some parents based on her liking them or not. We requested a couple of small requests related to how much time she shows movies for kids in the aftercare. She works with an attitude of "my way or the highway!" In other words large part of the after school care is spent every day in movies - maybe 60 mins or maybe 90 mins! We do not know why the school does not hire a more energetic person to lead the after care program who is interested in providing kids more activities and NOT JUST MOVIES! If you want an environment that does NOT support your child's growth through the day in the school where they spend most of their day then this is the place for you! We withdrew our child and went elsewhere. The principal who joined in 2025 summer, is very approachable/ pleasant/ positive person and a solution finder but in this case she was not able to help us either!

Her grade was not good, school did not helping, told to get tutor outside. One day, my daughter was supposed in infront of the class to speak about famous character, she supposed to wear costume, but I did not buy it on time. The teacher called to send her home at 11:00 am without letting her to stay and learn performance from other kids. Teacher said no need, " I will send you the video of others", but, I had not received any video. This is called discrimination or what? Why she not allow her to stay and learn. And that was it, I changed school. This school I had to pay money, returned nothing. My daughter had much help and improvement when she went to Rocketship. They can provide one on one help, later group help. They use different method somehow my daughter grade went up, no more plugging hair, no more stressing movement. She is fine now with As abd Bs. Again, this school is not for slow students, they don't have patience to deal with them. Period.

We also value the well-rounded curriculum that goes beyond academics to focus on character development and a strong Christian faith foundation. It's exactly the balance we hoped to find. The campus is beautiful and well cared for, and they're actively investing in the future with a new middle school building and gym facilities underway. They're a Christian school for Christian families and that results in a great community where people hold similar values. They also have stellar academics; the bi-annual standardized testing they participate in shows that not only do they excel compared to the state average, but they exceed the average of private schools on all categories, in all grade levels! We have all 3 of our girls enrolled there (Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade). Beyond the basics, they have got great art and music and drama and computers and maker classes that the kids all get to experience. When we took a family trip and were walking through the National Museum in London, the girls were excited to recognize a painting that they had been discussing in art class. They also do plays and musicals at all grade levels and Ms. Miller arranges entertaining, original works for them to do. I'm especially excited about the ways the school works public speaking into the curriculum. As early as 3rd grade students are giving short presentations before the class and one of the culminating moments of 8th grade is giving a 20 minute "Ted Talk" in the auditorium, in front of the whole middle school. Surely this is the cause of some nervousness in the students, but the value of developing these skills young is so immense! Next year, we're looking forward to the no-cut sports that start in 5th grade. Our daughter isn't a great athlete but I look forward to the lessons of hustle and teamwork. Other schools have sports programs but they are often only for the students with well developed skills rather than being open to all. Also, starting in 4th grade, they have over-night trips. Our oldest just got back from a 2-night "Gold Country" trip. Many schools have impressive class trips, but they are often a large additional expense. SJCS's trips are subsidized by the fund-raising efforts of the school and so the cost is kept minimal. Other schools may brag about their programs, but then you find out that there's a waiting list and a lot of additional cost for those programs. We haven't decided where we will send our kids for high school, but SJCS has guaranteed admission with both Kings Academy and Valley Christian. Personally, I like the idea of keeping them in the smaller middle school at SJCS where they have a chance to be a mentor to the younger kids via the Buddies Program rather than having them on a campus with high schoolers before they're at that point themselves.

One day, my son asked me if he had tutoring that afternoon and I said "yes". He then gave a deep sigh of relief and said, "Great!". I asked, "Why great?". He replied, "Now I can go home, relax, and not stress about homework, because I know I can get it all done at tutoring." Worth every penny! KQ got us through the middle school years, now my son is honor roll in HS (no tutoring required). I am positive that KQ has contributed to his current success.
