I was meant to be getting a tattoo by Jacinda Rose @ abstruse tattoo studio. I booked it in 3 months ago, paid a deposit and have been quietly excited about getting this piece on my thigh. The week had come, I sent a message to the artist on Sunday asking to see the drawing once done as wanted to review it prior to the day to make sure I was happy with it and there was enough time to make any changes needed which is pretty standard, she'd been provided with details and an example inspo pic for her to go off.
Her response "Yeah I said I'd send it" shortly followed by "But I have someone else to get through first. I'll most likely send it Tuesday or Wednesday" Okay initially seemed a little rude, but I accepted it and just hoped to receive it by Tuesday at the latest so there was time for changes, as this was my first time going to her so I was a little nervous.
So finally I got the image at 9pm last night with my booking being today for a full day. To my horror and seeing my concerns become my reality, It was nothing like what I'd asked for, I actually thought it was a joke that's how bad it was. It looked nothing like the inspo pic or vibe I was wanting and had explained.
I asked for it to be changed and I was met with rudeness, she kept a saying she fulfilled the brief when clearly this wasn't the case, she then wanted to charge me a design fee on top of a full day rate because she now had to design something new and last minute (that was my fault too in her view) but just how she defended herself rather than trying to resolve things was so unprofessional. It soon became apparent that she had no idea what she was doing I couldn't have made it any clearer. Long story short, the tattoo was cancelled as she couldn't deliver the drawing and she refused to give back the deposit.
I just couldn't believe the attitude and lack of professionalism shown to a client. Even the whole process with her tbh was quite unpleasant and I really should have trusted my gut which was saying this doesn't feel right.
Even though I've been upset by the whole ordeal, I know I just dodged a bullet.
At the end she offers to start fresh and give it another go after talking to her boss, but the damage was already done. NO WAY was I letting her near my skin with a tattoo gun after how she had just treated me!
I found out that she located the pic via google images and added a few images together, that was her design process. read more
