I like that it doesn't smell like those horrible mall nail bars. A shellac will cost around $25 and is about half an hour all up. I've found in my several visits that although they aren't super friendly, they don't totally ignore you either. The do a long lasting job, with my last shellac lasting 2 months!

On the plus side you don't have to wait long at all and they're pretty friendly for nail technicians. Not that I will be able to get my nails done for some time, since it will take me months to grow out the damage caused to my fingernails from this one bad manicure/butchery! I went for gel removal and deluxe Mani & Peddi. The technician who was removing the gel from my fingernails, rather than gently buffing the surface on the gel to enable removal used a very coarse file and filled all the gel along with most of the layers of my natural nails, till they were paper thin and had to be cut off all the way down to the nail bed to enable the manicure to be completed. I stopped her five times and asked her to stop filing. If I hadn't had another technician working on my feet, I would have walked out then and there. After completely stuffing my nails, she applied one thick coat of polish rather than two to three that are usually applied, and the nail art is so crooked and badly done, that, rather than getting compliments, for the unusual design, I have been asked a number of times since I got out of there, " is it meant to look like that?" The answer is NO IT'S NOT! APPALING! Even when I complained and asked her to stop, explained that she was filling off the layers of my nails she argued. I'm kicking myself for being to polite to make her stop and do the work properly.

I was treated to a gel polish manicure on my visit and it was simply exquisite - a far cry from my usual manicures that I get from a certain chain store up the road. The whole process was slow but not tedious and incredibly relaxing. I chose my call - a bubbly pink called "fantasy". My manicurist said "Can I show you my favourite pink polish?
