My first experience with Absolutely Cool, Inc was merely a "check-up" on my existing air conditioner. After buying an older house, it became obvious the existing system was on its last legs. The technician who came by was courteous and professional. He gave me an honest expectation of how much longer my existing system would last and cleaned it up as best as possible. He didn't press to sell a new system, merely mentioned they have them available when my old machine finally died. The only negative thing about this first experience is that my appointment was at 2pm and he didn't end up arriving until 5:30pm. This is incredibly typically for service professionals however so it did not put me off continuing with their company for my HVAC needs.
Around 7-9 months later (roughly the time period the original technician estimated), my old system died. I received quotes from three local companies and Absolutely Cool was the cheapest for the same amount of work but also had the best service package. Neal Chappell, the previous owner I believe, was the gentleman who provided me with the original quote. He explained thoroughly the new system and answered all my questions with patience. This being my first HVAC replacement, I had a lot of questions.
When it came time for the actual installation, everything was quickly and efficiently done in less than a day. My new system works very well and I am very satisfied.
My reason for providing a four star, rather than five, review is due to the fact the original quoted work and the actual performed work were slightly different. I was at work for the actual install and the person who stayed at my house with them all day did not know these details. So I wasn't able to remind them of these things, I just noticed them when I got home after the work was completed. During the original quote, Neal and I discussed setting the new air handler on the floor thereby removing the shelf in that closet. Neal pointed out this would give me access to the rest of the space in the closet, as vertical storage is in extremely short supply in my house. The actual work performed put the new system right back on the shelf so I merely have the exact amount of space I had before. Also, Neal suggested a new thermostat and I highlighted my existing one was perfectly sufficient. They still put in a new one, but its a very nice, programmable thermostat so I didn't ask them to come back out and give me back my old one. Since I wasn't able to physically be there for the install, I was relying on perfect communication between the Quoter and the Installer. This did not happen, but these two things weren't a huge deal so I left it alone.
I do highly recommend this company in general. Their customer service is great and their prices are very reasonable. read more
