They said salvageable, performed minimal care. Meanwhile the receptionist said that they would keep if salvageable. But Vet said otherwise. Poor communication and care. Upon picking up the kittens several hours later to bring to rescue I found 1 kitten was dead. When I called now, spoke to co-owner who admitted that 1 looked "iffy" then they should have euthanized like I asked. Don't waste your time here. Go to Dr Volk or Latrobe Animal Clinic.

The Humane Society of Cambria County is closest to where I live and I decided that I wanted to go check and see what animals were available. I honestly had no intention of falling for one of them when I walked in, but somehow you bond. I walked in and the place is immaculate. Buzzing with noise as any animal shelter does. I asked if they had any cats available, and of course they did. I went back and walked up and down the aisle, double and sometimes triple looking at all the feline friends in need. I eventually found one that caught my eye and decided that I would like to see how we would do when we mingled. I went out and asked if I could hang out with one, they obliged. After hanging out in the kitty alcove I ended up falling for one that was in there already. With the visit over I went out and asked what the process was to adopt a cat. I was given an application to fill out and went ahead to complete it. This application is worse than both a job application and a rent application combined. I understand that they want to make sure that the animal is going to a responsible home and that way they weed out the bad prospects. But to ask for three references in regards to whether you can care for an animal is a bit ridiculous. Once I filled out my application, handed it over to them I was told that it would be up to seven days and they would make their decision. Seven days have come and gone...a long time ago. And I have not heard one peep from them. I know for a fact that they have called my references on the application as I was told by the people I had listed that they received a call. I, however, did not receive word on whether I was approved or denied. It would have been the decent thing to have done, even if I was denied to let me know one way or the other. All I have to say is that the fur baby would have had a good forever home, but it will never know that now.

He was the last kitten to pick up and he immediately turned over onto his back and snuggled in and made this pipsqueak noise. We knew that his mother was a feral cat, and we were wondering what a kitten even needs! The vet at Penmar was amazing! As soon as he walked into the room, I had a feeling of him being a small town doctor. He was warm and friendly, and he seemed to know what questions we had before we even asked them! His support staff were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The vet talked with us extensively and he really knew his stuff! He had suggestions for the kitten's future care as to what we should do and what would be a good idea to do. The vet seemed to care for us as Murr's parents and was very patient with us.
