I've spent the last couple of years looking for someone who listens to me and can do what I ask for. I found Angelica by using Yelp and reading comments. One of the things that's been difficult is finding someone who will actually return my call or text, and I tried 3 different people before Angelica. She is super sweet and easy to talk to and charges a very reasonable price! She cut my hair exactly how I like it and made my experience so enjoyable. I am so happy I found Angelica! Being somewhat new to Carson City, I didn't know where to go. So I read most of the online reviews. There are around 60 hair salons in Carson City. Absolute Hair had the best reviews, and after seeing the results of my two-color highlight today, I have to agree. Angelica was so welcoming. When I booked my appointment on a Friday for the following Monday, she gave me her cell phone number just in case I needed to call her over the weekend, when she is closed (or sees clients by appointment only). She told me to do some research and bring in pics on my phone of hair colors and styles I wanted. When I arrived Monday, Angelica recommended that I leave some of my gray hair in so I wouldn't have that "skunk" look when my roots grow out. This is great, as I can grow it out longer without having to do root touch-ups again and again every month. Of course, you still have to go back to maintain your color, but I appreciate Angelica's tip. Angelica also didn't try to sell me any hair products, like most salons do. She doesn't sell any in her shop. This is good, as then I don't get the hard sell to buy. She told me what I could buy for low cost at many stores here. (Hint: you need to buy shampoo that is advertised for colored hair or as sulfate-free. Conditioner does not matter.) Also, she told me not to wash my hair for a day so the color sets in. Angelica only see clients by appointment, as do most good salons. She has a loyal following of both men and women. I know...I sound like a walking advertisement for her business, but she is that good!! I can't tell you how ecstatic I am. She has such a cute personality and did a great cut. I absolutely love my new hair style. I had long hair (cut over 12 inches off) and wanted a longer A-line style. Looking for a new salon in the area as we new to the area l looked at yelp. The reviews were mostly very good. What a surprise. The salon was very dirty and the owner had her child with her. The child was disobedient and annoying. Dirty tools (she's dropped the comb, picked it up and continued to use it). The haircut was all right and cheap, hence 1 star. read more

We are from WA and rolled into town for our Reno elopement. I figured finding a hair appointment last minute would be easier in Carson City. I woke up first thing that day and started calling for appointments based on good ratings on yelp reviews. After five or six rejections I finally got ahold of Jodi at Absolute Hair who was willing to give me an updo in two hours. She asked what was the occasion, I told her it was my elopement day, and she delightfully laughed. I was happy to go somewhere where I felt the love on my special day. I showed her some style ideas from my phone, I was going for a 1960s bouffant sort of updo. She knocked it out of the park. I was soooo happy with what she did and felt so beautiful. I also promptly brought my husband over to get his hair cleaned up, and she did an awesome job on him too. Versatile talent. To top it off.... The price plus a generous tip was still $20 below the price I saw posted at other locations for an updo, that's without the tip! Jodi is excellent. I usually get botched cuts if I ask for short cuts. I didn't know what I wanted other than shorter. She took the time with me to look at styles in the book and discussed bangs. The owner, Angelica isn't professional. You never know if they're open or closed. She smelled like smoke & gave me a terrible haircut that she didn't even bother to comb out. I think she was upset I said "after 10 years of marriage it doesn't matter what I look like". I'd never even consider going back. What an idiot. read more

My seventeen yr old daughter and myself both tried Absolute Hair last week. My daughter went first. She has long brown hair with natural waves. Angelica cut her hair dry, then placed beautiful rose gold and brown balayage throughout her length. When it was done it was so shiny, and BEAUTIFUL! I returned a few days later to get my own cut and color. I have very curly hair, that was long and dark. Angelica lightened my hair then balayaged beautiful bronze and rose gold through it. She then cut it to a LOB (long bob). My hair feels so healthy and it is shiny and so full of great color depth. We have finally found someone who is talented and listens to her clients. Angelica fixed my horrible hair cut that was done by another local salon (The Cutting Edge) and a stylist (Shaun) that obviously doesn't know how to cut hair and color (like the photos he was given to follow). He should go back to being a lumberman not a hair stylist! I should have gone to Absolute Hair from the beginning and I wouldn't have gotten one of the worse hair cuts of my life. Sweet baby Jesus, Nevada finally gave me a reason to like the state! After living in the area for about 3 years now and countlessly searching for a hair salon that doesn't just over charge you and actually knows how to thin out my very coarse and thick hair, this is the place! When reading the previous reviews before me, I just thought people were exaggerating a little bit too much and made me feel a bit skeptical when setting up my appointment. When arriving as scheduled as a first time client, I was pretty anxious but excited at the same time. I just trusted my gut and what the previous reviews had said and went for it. Came here for what I believe was called an "A-line cut" and some partial highlights for the very first time. Showed her pictures on how I wanted my hair done and she immediately got down to business. The feeling of anxiety that I had didn't last too long since the owner was full of energy, fun, and very enjoyable to have a conversation with. It wasn't those forced ice breakers that eventually lead to an awkward place but rather a hell of a good time! She also gave me a goody bag and plentiful of advice on how to keep up with my hair to make it beautiful till the end of time. Finally I would just like to say that this is indeed the very best hair salon in town. Prices are affordable and the owner is just a very talented woman. There was never an awkward moment in my time spent at the salon. She is very friendly, helpful, extremely talented and will most definitely give you what you deserve at a hair salon. We all do it, think about making a change for weeks and then one day you absolutely have to do it , TODAY. So last week the day before a business trip, I called around town to my usual places and couldn't get in I checked out yelp and found Absolute Hair. Wow they did a phenomenal job, my hair had to go from the lightest brown any woman of color should ever be to my natural color which is an espresso brown, typically people think I mean black and sure in the right light it looks black but it is truly a brown color. If you are looking for a quick appointment then they can get you in but i do not recommend I left in tears! I asked for a weave with blonde and wanted dark on the underneath . Left looking like a skunk she only did blonde on the very top. She also took the hair on the sides and put dark were the out growth was then left the blonde at the ends (well the other half of the hair). I was very unhappy not worth the tears and still payed 65 dollars to just go right down the street to pay more to fix the bad color job !!! Never went here before, was desperate for a hair cut, at a reasonable price, without getting botched hair. The owner, was amazing, very relaxed, welcoming environment, I went in for a pixie cut, she was able to understand what I was trying to go for and turned it into the most amazing cut I've ever had, turned out way better then I ever could of expected, price was good.
