It was super easy to reserve and take care of the waiver online, so there was no paperwork to do at the store. The bikes were great. The trails are so chunky, but the bikes handled the abuse just fine. There are plenty of trails you can hop on right from the store. The only thing that was sort of a bummer is the store is only open 10-5, so in the summer when it's hot, you lose a whole morning by not being able to pick up until 10 and a whole evening by needing to drop off by 5. I rented for 3 days, but that's effectively two days of riding unless you want to ride in the 95 degree afternoon heat. They should make the rentals for 24 hours so if you pick up at 4 pm on Monday and return 4 pm on Wednesday that's 2 days (they count it as 3). read more

Still operating during covid. Came up in August and it was super hot. The store did not share with email reservation that there hours changed and so they are open later in the morning. Again it's super hot and so are rode during the afternoon and heat of the day. Wasn't too happy to get there early in the morning to find out they open later. Again, I wish they would have stated something in the email for my reservation. The bikes are really nice and function great. A decent trail close to the store but so many people walking that path I wish we would have went somewhere else. read more

This is a cool bike shop with quality equipment and knowledge about the sport.. that's about it. I was pretty disappointed to find out that their policy for cancellations isn't fair at all and leaves you either paying the money for a doctor's note, or for your rentals... You will never get a refund unless you show up to them with a broken limb. When a policy for a LOCAL SHOP is specifically there to protect the interest of the shop owners and none of the customers visiting their store, I don't believe that's a shop that deserves any business. It sounds like big corporation policies that don't treat anyone with respect. We had a brief two day trip in Sedona after we drove up to Phoenix to visit some distant family. We got there Sunday evening and left Tuesday morning. We rented a couple of bikes on the absolute bike website Monday afternoon whilst on a hike in Sedona, for the following Tuesday, and we're pretty excited to try it out. Problem is we didn't realize how long our hike would actually be that day.. that was our fault as we were excited to be there.. and we barely made it back to the hotel. Unfortunately on our hike Monday, obviously after I scheduled the rentals, my girlfriend hurt her knees trying to push through this 11 mile hike from our hotel, and by the time we got back to our room she was toast. Both knees as well as here right hip were weak and in pain.. it wasn't looking good for us considering our bike rentals were for 10am the next day. I luckily remembered that on their cancellation policy, Absolute Bikes mentioned they would allow cancellations with a refund if someone was injured and couldn't ride. Well this seemed to be fair as that is exactly the situation we were in! But lo and behold when we arrived at the store to explain to them what happened, they denied that my girlfriend was injured and said it wasn't a serious injury so therefore they couldn't help us.. without a DOCTOR'S NOTE. First off, I have several serious and debilitating injuries that no one will ever be able to SEE WITH THEIR OWN EYES. Ever heard of back spasms and slipped discs, chronic shoulder dislocations, and bad knees and wrists leading to early onset arthritis?? When someone comes to you and honestly asks for your consideration, you don't turn them down just because they didn't have a DOCTORS NOTE! HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO GET MY GIRLFRIEND TO A DOCTOR ON OUR LAST DAY IN SEDONA ANYWAYS? ALL SO I CAN PAY THEM THE $90 I AM TRYING TO RECOVER FROM YOUR RENTAL FEES, AND WASTE OUR FINAL HOURS IN SEDONA???? That's an example of greed if there ever was one. The manager wouldn't even talk with us to hear our story. Their whole policy is designed to keep them untouched. It's not right and it's not friendly or honest. I won't be renting from this location and I suggest you don't either..there are plenty of other shops in town to do business with who likely haven't become jaded by living in a rich zip code. read more

We chose Absolute Bikes in VOC based on the Yelp reviews. We pre-arranged our bike rentals online in advance of our trip. Once arriving in the area, we stopped at the shop to make a few changes. A young woman worked with us; she was very helpful (5 stars for her!). We were told our bikes would be ready at 10 AM (too late IMO...we could have hit the trails much earlier). Well, we rolled up at 9:59...no bikes until 10:35. The bikes "are getting set up" and we waited...what happened to ready at 10??? There was no explanation, no apology, no hustle, no size check. Within a couple miles of the ride, one person in our group had a mechanical (problem with seat post spinning). We rode back to the shop...it took roughly 30 minutes for them to address the stripped screw. Again...no apology, no hustle. I expect both when spending $95/day for a rental. I'm sorry that I do not have a solution. Tourists are at the mercy of local vendors. Just prepare for a little frustration. The bikes, besides the one with the seat post issue, were very nice (carbon, 1x11, 29")...Absolute has that going for them. We have rented bike on other trips (Brevard, NC and Bentonville, AK) early pick up, late return...made for a better experience. read more

On a vacation in Sedona, I was looking to get in some biking either on roads, off-road or both and needed a bike rental. Absolute bikes has a nice supply of bikes to rent. I showed up when the store opened, and Jakob listened to what I was looking for in a ride as far as terrain, distance, and time. Within no time he had my bike ready to go. Did a little riding in parking lot to ensure a comfortable ride. Jakob then showed me some possible routes and off I went for a very nice riding experience in beautiful Sedona. Thankfully I had my Camelback, as high desert riding sure makes you thirsty. Absolute bikes has a water station to fill up your supply before hitting the trails. I will definitely use them again. I like bike shops, I loved this one! These guys were great and I tested them with area knowledge before they ever expected I was buying anything, the rent bikes and sell them also, I fact I purchased one from their fleet and they hooked it up with new grips and tires (tuneless) to top off the deal. Came back to all new cables because they didn't like the scuffs on the ones that were perfectly okay. You can tell they service all their bikes and keep them in top knot he shape. I upgraded today and purchased a 2020 specialized stumpjumper from Rich, and he was a boss at helping us out, sizing it up, and helping outfit the kids in newer riding protection. They even wanted to check my bike after my first ride today to ensure the tires broke in properly and everything ran well. I loved this 659b more than I thought I would, and it's a great fit for me. Thanks to rich and all the guys here, I won't be running my bike out of the trail for a while I hope. Also forgot to mention they timed my sons bike and didn't charge for it at all....that's service that cares. read more

These guys get slammed during busy season so beware. I've dealt with them a few times over the past ten years and they're always friendly and knowledgeable. They have a decent selection of gear and some high end bikes for sale and rent. The review would be five starts except I had a repair issue - I had some brakes replaced and bled and it was supposed to be a one day job but became three. And they were so busy with their rentals etc that it got pretty much neglected until I called and checked in. Otherwise a great shop. Just beware the busy season. read more

This business is all about profit, not customer service. Their actual hours are 10-6 and they don't let you pick up a bike the night before so you can beat the heat. The three of us had planned to rent from this company for seven days, but after they would not allow us to pick up the bikes the night before without a $30 up charge so we could ride in the early morning, we cancelled an order. The staff we dealt with at the store were amazing! They were courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. The owner was the person who denied our request. The owner is not as biker friendly as he needs to be. read more

OK - so I purchased a new Marin Rift Zone Carbon 2. It comes with a dropper seat post. Because I raised my post it created some cable tension on the dropper which made the post sink a bit. I called Absolute and spoke with Nate, the manager. I told him my scenario. This would have been warranty work because the bike's not even 30 days old. Instead of making me come in he walked me through the process of how to solve the problem THAT'S great service. He helped me solve a simple fix and kept me from having to make the trek. I was riding my e-bike from Uptown to Village of Oak creek on two days this week. The first ride, my chain came off the front derailleur and a link got pinched, so when I put it back on I noticed a distinct catching when pedaling (this is a mid-motor, pedal-assist-only e-bike) but was concerned the hilly ride back to Sedona might cause the chain to fail. So I was taking it slowly coming out of VOC thinking it would be great if there was a bike shop and sure enough, there was Absolute Bikes. They took the bike in and put a quick link in and the chain was as good as new (well, it was stretched and a few teeth of the front sprocket were worn bad, but not to the point of causing any problems). I was shocked at the charge... not because it was high, but because it was insanely low. Wow! Now, I was going to write a review about that encounter, but fast forward to my ride to VOC today down to Cathedral Rock on Verde Valley School Road. About a half mile from AZ-179 when I was headed back my rear tire developed a slow leak and was totally deflated when I got to 179. Fortunately, Absolute was just a few blocks away. It was a long walk :-). Like my previous encounter, the guys took my bike in immediately, and put a new tube in (the culprit thorn was removed from the tread). And again, the charge was eminently reasonable. I was back on the road in 20 minutes. So twice Absolute saved my bacon in as many days. And all the guys were super friendly. We rented bikes here a few weekends ago. The price is reasonable, bikes are in good condition. You ride through the parking lot, across one side street and up the sidewalk to the trails. The kids working there were helpful, and luckily we got the 5.00 insurance on the bike cause we had a minor wipeout, that bent a seat and it was covered. read more

Second time I rented a bike from this shop and second time I am very pleased! Made reservation a couple of weeks in advance. Bike was ready and well tuned when we arrived. Had punctured tire on day 2. Plenty of fresh sealant in tire but could not cope with hole in side wall. Borrowed tube from a buddy of mine and went back to store. They immediately offered to give a tube back to my buddy and they resealed new tire on the spot. Great bikes, great service. We will be back! read more
