I drive by this diner all the time and finally made it here for lunch. The burgers are small and the buns are REALLY big. The meat to bread ratio is not for me so I didn't really like it. I ordered the hamburger and my boyfriend ordered the fat burger. The biggest difference is more lettuce tomato and an extra patty. You kinda need that extra patty just to feel like you're biting into a burger. Chili cheese fries felt under cooked, but I'm sure the toppings made them soggy. I'm not sure if things have changed here in the last 5 years since I came last, or perhaps my standards have gotten higher regarding both quality of food and service. Regardless, my experience today was lackluster on all accounts. To start things off, we walked in, and literally 0 of the tables were clean. We then stood inside waiting for someone to take our order for nearly 15 mins. We were the only ones in line. Several times I was really close to just walking out. There was a party of maybe 10 that looked like they were waiting for their food, so I understand a delay because of that, but they could have at the very least took our order, and advised us it would be a little longer than usual. This would have allowed us to have sat down while we waited. Rather than what actually happened which was that we were virtually ignored while we stood there wondering what was happening. While we waited, it was clear all the employees were too busy to help us, so we had to clean off our own table with some wet napkins. Once we finally did get to place our order, the wait to get our food was short, though they brought our shakes out to us like 5 mins before the rest of the food came. This may be a matter of preference but I'd much rather get my shake at the very least at the same time as my food. The food itself was not what I remembered. The buns feel very "manufactured", as if they just came off the conveyor belt. The bread is also really thick, which isn't usually a bad thing, but the meat is so thin that it gets drown by the bread. The meat itself was also fairly dry and unappetizing. The fries are better than your average fries, but lack any sort of seasoning or salt. I do have to say I feel the kids meal option is well priced. It was just under $6 to get a hamburger, fries, drink, and a cup of ice cream. The highlight is still the ice cream, for me personally at least. The shakes are just your typical soft serve ice cream with a variety of toppings. Some people, like my wife, may be turned off by the plainness of soft serve, but I love it. It's the only place in the valley that I know of where you can get a shake like this. This used to be my favorite place to get burgers, fish, and fries. The quality of the food and service has been in steady decline for some time now. Of the last 5 visits to the drive thru, they haven't given me my whole order 3 of those times. It is very difficult to check an entire order in my car before I leave. Ab's was a great place to dine. My husband and I would sit at the counter. Recently they have added Riley's into the Ab's on 5600 West store. They took out the counter seats completely and boxed in the whole area with partition walls. When we went in and the place is now boxed in. We've been going to Ab's for over 20 years. It was my first time here. I ordered a Fat Boy burger, chili cheese fries and a strawberry & banana milkshake (the milkshake melted in my car before I was able to take a pic). The burger was just okay. I felt that it could have been more flavorful (especially for their price), but maybe that's just me. Still, it was a bit disappointing. (I did like the toasted bun, though.) As for the chili cheese fries, they were good, and I loved how fresh the fries were! And, although I thought it was odd to charge extra for fry sauce, it was the best I've ever had. The strawberry and banana milkshake was also yummy. I really liked the huge chunks of banana in the mix. Other positive were, their drive-thru line moved fast, and the service was nice. All in all, I'll be back. read more

I asked for a straw for my drink and the girl told me there was already one in my bag. I got home and there wasn't one so we can add laziness to their list of qualities. We had a COVID visit to the drive through after desperately needing an outing. Headed there for lunch and the line was relatively short and moved quickly for decently fresh burgers. I had the grilled chicken meal. The chicken sandwich was hot and delicious. The chicken was good quality. The fries were good but the fry sauce tasted gummy - I wouldn't order that again. Skipped the milk shakes only because we get zero exercise right now. Kid at the window put one glove on to take our payment but then used his other hand to complete the credit card transaction. ‍ I'm hoping over time we as a population learn how to interact but reduce cross contamination. I had the fish sandwich and a grape shake. The sandwich was mediocre. I was excited for the grape shake, but it just tasted sweet with barely a hint of possible grape. Disappointing. I tried the shake at their sister sandwich shop (Riley's in West Jordan) and feared it may be more of the same. Where the Riley's shake fell short in not having enough chocolate syrup, the Ab's came through with flying colors. It may depend largely on who's running the machine that day, but whatever high school kid mixed mine tonight should definitely get college credit. Young player, may your acne be only temporary and your voice finish changing soon. This is a fast food shake. Smooth, a little bit melty, and a few little chunks of fresh banana throughout. You'll still need a spoon, but it's not that grainy stuff you get at corpo chains. Sometimes I'm in the mood for ice cream presented in shake form, and this is not the place for cement-like treats. There's a simple menu of savories here too. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, hot dogs, and fish filet sandwiches. Saturdays are bargain days when hamburgers are $.99 and corn dogs just $.59. I'm also a thirsty fan of places like Ab's where you can add a shot of flavor to your drinks. Here you can choose from fresh lime, cherry, grape, or vanilla starting at $.30. Overpriced burgers I can get in a kids meal. I ordered a cheeseburger Combo Large, everything on it except tomato. I got a kid sized cheeseburger, medium fries and a coke. Competitors offer this with added condiments for free, yet adding bacon for $2 and charging for fry sauce to boot is overpriced, up your game with incentives or compete with your competitors. My meal took a while, I figured "hey, it's should be cooked to order" right? Guess not, I got Luke warm fries, cold burger and I give props on the Coke (line wasn't long but hardly is long anyways). I've been coming to Abs for some time and have loved there food, overtime I've seen food portions get smaller and increased "Nickel and dime" tactics put into place and unfortunately no incentives for me to be a return customer. Orders seem to take a while to process overall quality is okay but their service could definitely improve. I'm so glad that they still have a location available near me. If you come at a good time when it's not super busy the service is efficient and the workers are nice. However, when the drive thru is busy just know that you will have a bit of a wait time but that's just cause they make everything fresh which I appreciate. I love love love their shakes. And their fries and chicken strips are delicious as well! I always opt in for extra fry sauce, which will cost extra but it is good. Normally I would leave a great review for Ab's. We have always enjoyed having a good burger. Unfortunately, the last two times we have visited have been less than stellar. We went through the drive-thru and waited over 45 minutes for our meal, but when we got to the window, we paid and then nothing happened. They had locked the doors and were shutting down. They never did deliver our meal. My husband drove around to the doors, they were locked at 8:57pm. I'd recommend not going late as apparently they stop serving before closing time. And you've hit the jackpot if the flavor of the month is Nutter Butter- you have them add this to the chocolate peanut butter shake and it's like a melted Reese's cup. Fries and fry sauce are also pretty dang good. I do wish their burgers were bigger. I did take off a star because the drive thru is a little slow, but honestly it's worth the wait. We decided to try Ab's tonight and I'm glad we did! The service was quick and polite and they got us through the drive up quickly. Now the best part...the food. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a delicious lemon pepper seasoning. A little kick of extra flavor, but not overwhelming. Not overcooked or undercooked but tender and delicious. The fries were like the best homemade ones. They were served piping hot with a yummy fry sauce (it costs a little extra). Hubby had the chicken and fries which was also cooked perfectly.
