Abracadabra has about twenty (covered!) gelato flavors and is open late. What more could you want? My friend and I stopped in and got some samples, which they were generous with. They have some pretty basic flavors, like pistachio, dark chocolate, lemon, and stracciatella, but of course, I wanted something I wouldn't get back home. If you're on the fence about getting some, the prices will be sure to change your minds. For €2, you can get two small scoops in a cone, and for .50 more, you can get two big scoops. They have bigger size options as well. I got the fleur de cocoa, which was sweet but so mild and creamy, and the melon, which was different and went with the other flavor so well. My friend got the bigger size of two other flavors and loved it. This was the perfect way to wrap up a heavy dinner with a delicious dessert!

I have no negative things to say about the gelato, but I am surprised by the raving reviews. It tasted like any other gelato I've eaten all over the world. It's hard to find bad gelato. The service was chaotic with 3 guys behind the counter and instead of one guy per family/group order all of them were helping everybody. It made for a confusing "who's on first" situation. Good gelato, confusing service not sure why this particular gelato place in Ponte Delgmade so many lists of places to try. read more
Pretty tasty gelato and they let you try it! Not my favorite in the area but will certainly get your gelato craving out of the way. Really liked that they had so many dairy free options - loved the dark chocolate (strong and rich) and guava flavors! read more
A bright and colorful gelato shop in the middle of Ponta Delgada serving a wide variety of fresh flavors of creamy gelato. Even though it was only 74 degrees, there is something about the intensity of the September sun here in the azores and we were needing an afternoon treat so we made our way to abracadabra. The two workers both spoke great English and helped us with our selections. I got a large cup (3 flavors) and only €3,10 and my wife the medium(2 flavors) €1,90 so gelato for two for €5, very cheap. I liked the lemon and red fruit (raspberry) and the strawberry was also tasty. My wife went for the non-fruit flavors opting for chocolate/hazelnut and pistachio. A very refreshing treat. read more

I had the berry non dairy and it was delicious! Friends had regular gelato and thought it was amazing. A must go to
Having just gone to Italy not too long before this, I can confirm the gelato is the real deal. We made a beeline for this place after dinner our first night, and it did not disappoint. I got the dark chocolate and the passionfruit in one cup, both delicious. The dark chocolate was deep and rich, and the passionfruit super tangy, which was the perfect palate cleanser. It was too tangy for my husband, but I loved it. We enjoyed it so much we came back twice during our week-long trip. On our return trips, we also tried the pistachio, hazelnut, stracciatella, and I'm sure others that I'm forgetting. All of them were wonderful. Prices are reasonable for gelato, and I love that they name the cup and cone sizes after famous wizards! The young ladies behind the counter were very sweet. One of them didn't speak English, and we didn't speak Portuguese but she tried her best to help us, and we really appreciated that. There is abundant seating at tables right outside, and I can't think of a more lovely way to spend a balmy night in Ponta Delgada. read more

So after hearing great things about Abracadabra from both our tour guide and a couple of fellow travelers, we knew we had to pay this gelateria a visit. The shop itself is pretty small with just the ice cream counter inside and few tables outside. The space is well-lit, clean, and modern, and the staff were very friendly. Their ice cream flavor and size options are varied, and priced very reasonably. For €2.50, I got waffle cone with 2 scoops, the flor do cacau and maracujá (passion fruit). The flor do cacau, as it was explained to me, is made from the flower of a cacao plant. The taste was similar to a mild yogurt flavor, and paired very well with the much sweeter maracujá. Open late, cash only. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself on São Miguel Island! read more

Described by more than one person to us that this was the best gelato on the island, we knew we had to try it. Truth be told, we almost skipped it and went to another closer spot, but one night when we had some time to kill we wandered off in search of Abracadabra. The one thing I learned about gelato in Italy....it MUST MUST MUST not be visible when you order. If the gelato is on show and not covered in a metal tray, it's crap. Guess what, Abracadabra was covered!! So many flavors, ones that were right up my alley like guava, I eventually settled on Guava and Coconut, and stole a bite of everyone else's so I could try as many as possible. Not sure if they do samples here, but we didn't want to bug the girl with 5 million drunken requests to try them all lol, so I went with my gut. Guava was perfect, Coconut was outstanding, and the combo was heaven! A must try if you're in the area. read more

So I'm not really big on sweets, rarely order dessert, and if I do it certainly won't be ice cream, but SO many people had recommended Abracadabra to us and with a few sweet teeth in the group we decided to stop in an try "the best gelato on the island". So many places we passed were closed (I think it was a Sunday?) so we were definitely excited to find Abracadabra open until 11 pm. Walking in I was already impressed as I have learned from the Italians that gelato must be covered...yes it's pretty on display but you compromise the flavor. I also learned that you want to use ugly fruit to make it as the small, overipe fruits are the best, but they didn't have fruit on display here so I didn't get to evaluate the authenticity on that level. SO many choices. In the end I went with a small cup of cherry and coconut gelato. The coconut was AMAZING. Not too sweet, super fresh and creamy. Though the coconut was my favorite the cherry certainly did not disappoint. It tasted like real cherries with a little tartness and actually went amazing with the slightly sweeter creamy coconut..coconut cherry should be a go to flavor combo and I've been missing out. I also tried the pistachio...again amazing...there's a trend of amazingness here. The prices here were super reasonable by my standards, and the girl behind the counter was friendly and put up with us taking forever to decide what we wanted even though it was close to closing time. If you're looking for grab and go dessert on the island this is the place for sure. read more

Great great gelato! It's right next to the hotel we are staying at so it'll get us in trouble haha. Perfect serving sizes, great prices, and I loved being able to try the flavors first. She was excellent help and and gave great service. Thanks! read more
Delicious local ice cream! I had the best pistachio gelato I have ever had anywhere else in the world and trust me, I've had my fare share of ice cream. The smallest portion (which was more than enough for dessert after having had supper) is only 1.25 euros. SAY WHAT!! read more

Sehr leckeres Eis mit einer relativ großen Auswahl. Es wird unterschieden in Sorten mit und ohne Milch.
