She takes the time to work with me and explain everything she does. Her work is making me feel like a new person. Eight and a half years ago, I suffered extremely serious injuries in a car wreck. At that time, one lung collapsed and one was bruised. I've been getting medical massage for years to manage pain from the injuries in my back and neck. For the first time about a month ago, I went to a physical therapist at ABove, John Bové, and he noticed something that went past every other therapist for now almost 8.5 years. At an appointment intended to address my recurrent back and neck pain, I thought it odd that he focused in on the state of my lungs. He excitedly called in the intern to watch him literally move my lungs back to their original position within my chest. They trembled mightily as he did-- he said that they were "reliving" the motions of the impact from their trauma many years ago. Since then, I can run without collapsing into a fit of coughing. I can sing with a wider range because my lungs support me with enough air. Before the wreck, I was a singer. Ever since, I thought my nice singing voice was gone forever, but as I practice, it is finally now improving at an unprecedented rate. I can't show enough appreciation to John and his out-of-the-box thinking. Huge recommendation. read more

I fractured my wrist severely and after surgery was immobilized for 6 weeks. I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to play piano or drive a car or do anything the "normal" way ever again. But the incredible depth of knowledge, compassion and expertise that I got from the PT's John and Amelia, are more than I could have ever hoped for. I am ever so grateful for their treatments. My doctor recommended John and his staff and now I know why. I had a problem with my arm, shoulder, and neck and John did a fantastic job making sure that I got the care I needed at abovept - and that I applied some exercise displine myself - to heal my problems. I'm glad to say my probs are history now thanks to John. I don't know how he does it but I never felt like being a number (as I undoubtedly feel in most hospitals and many doctor offices). John took quality time for me and my issues and remembered every little detail a week later when I came back. That's rare to find these days! These folks are absolutely fantastic. Following my knee replacement surgery I worked with Above Physical Therapy for more than two months. This gave me a chance to work with all three therapists. John, Maria-Elena, and Amelia all have slightly different approaches to physical therapy, and this worked out perfectly for me. If you select Above Physical Therapy, which I strongly encourage you to do, I suggest that you schedule time with all three of them. While the sessions weren't always "fun", I always enjoyed interacting with the people at Above. That part of it was fun. From the front desk to the therapists, everyone was terrific. While they were professional, more importantly for me, they were very personable. The whole place has a warm, positive vibe to it. Although the sessions were an exercise in tough love, they were exactly what I needed. The work was uncomfortable at times, but we always backed off when we approached my pain threshold. It was an amazing balancing act. There is no cookie-cutter treatment here. Everything is very personalized. John, Maria-Elena, and Amelia were all tuned into my specific situation and needs. And they passed on information about my progress to each other so that my improvement maintained its steady uphill course. This is the third time in my life that I have gone through physical therapy following surgery, and Above Physical Therapy offered by far the best experience. No comparison.
