The check-in was…read moresmooth, and my room was clean, cool, and came with a full kitchen (fridge with ice maker, dishes, pots/pans, coffee pot, dishwasher) plus a washer/dryer in the hallway. The pool area was a standout multiple pools, a lazy river, shaded spots, and music that was fun but not overwhelming. There's also a small café downstairs with coffee and light breakfast items, a gym, a concierge desk stocked with brochures and local coupons, and an on-site spa (someone in my group went and loved it!). The beach is super clean, right out back with hotel-provided chairs/umbrellas (though I didn't reserve one myself), rinse-off stations, and clear water. Just be ready for stairs! Staff even offered to help carry my beach cart down. The balconies are non-smoking, but I did catch a bit of cigarette smell here and there from neighboring rooms. Security is solid elevators require a guest code to go up, but not to the lobby. Parking is across the street in a garage with plenty of space. The mini golf across the street is free for guests (maybe only timeshare?), but it's run-down and has some safety concerns like loose nails. There are also kid-friendly activities like scavenger hunts and poolside bingo with prizes. However, nothing much is within walking distance you'll need to drive for food, shopping, and attractions. One consistent issue was the water temp in the room never quite hot or cold, just lukewarm. That said, the water pressure was fantastic. Would absolutely stay again. Just know some perks (like passes to a waterpark and go-karts) may only be included with timeshare bookings.

Do not be fooled by the pictures online. the indoor and outdoor pools were fine actually pretty good. They had two hot tubs. One of them was out of order the whole 13 days we were there. The parking garage across from the hotel. I don't think you could've designed it worse if you tried and it's very, very tight. We stayed in the south tower so I don't know what the rooms are like in the north tower. I suppose it's possible they're nicer. They advertise housekeeping, which really means you can get towels and garbage bags. You be the judge just look at the pictures. It's a shame too because the staff was all very very friendly. I would give them a 4.5 rating out of five they were great friendly people. I guess it's not their fault the rooms are terrible. Our whole floor smell smelled like marijuana almost every day we were there. The elevators, almost constant marijuana smell. The stairs in the parking garage are absolutely filthy. I realize it's outdoors and it's a parking garage, but it was really bad. It didn't look like anybody had seriously cleaned or done any maintenance on our room in years. I could've posted 50 more pictures, but I just put a few. If I could've got a refund the first day I was there I would've left. I almost did even though I would've been out almost $2000 a hard lesson learned for me to do better research before I drop my hard earned money on a dumpy room like this.

The one and only complaint is that there were other guests that allowed their children to run up and down the outside corridors well past midnight yelling. They also have charcoal grills that we used twice during our week long stay. The property has 2 and 3 bedroom condos. We stayed in a 2 bedroom one. Check in was easy as they use a key pad with a passcode to check into your room. I will say though that the key pad lock was VERY tricky to open and probably needs to be switched out. I booked directly with Anchorage online but I've seen other owners put their condos on airbnb. The pictures online for the condo I booked had a major filter on it because in real person it looked really outdated. Also when I walked in it smelled like old. I don't really know how to explain it but like maybe as if nobody had opened the door in a while to let fresh air in. It had a beachy vibe and decor which I like in vacation rentals however as stated before the decor was outdated. It also felt like a lot of clutter. There was something on every wall and in every corner, it was just overkill in my opinion. My room also had terrible lighting. It was full of lamps however they didn't do much. It wasn't very well lit inside unless I opened the screen door. Not all the condos at Anchorage ll are the same though. Some are a lot nicer but I guess that just depends on the owners. My friend stayed right next to mines but you could tell there were a lot of updates made to that one and was just better maintained. Overall I enjoyed my stay but next time I will definitely book another room

Had to do a serious downgrade to my review …read more.. After a few days on property and being impressed, that original notion has been wiped away. After you see behind the nice location and listed things to do, you will find out there are seriously lacking things to bring this a 4 or 5 star rating. The "gym" for the entire property is basically a walk-in closet with old equipment. The restaurants and bar are never opened. The "arcade" is half broken. Arg!

There were good and not so good experiences about this resort. We stayed in room 514 of the North…read moreTower and the 3 bedroom condo exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and modern, with an incredible view of the beach and a well-stocked kitchen with practically everything you could possibly need including a blender, toaster, coffee maker, and ice maker in the freezer. It also included all of the pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and utensils you could use, which was great for us since we cooked multiple meals during our stay. An unexpected but wonderful surprise was the paperback novels in the drawer, which I enjoyed reading on the 2 beautiful balconies. There was seating and sleeping for up to 10 people and the space felt light and airy with colorful seaside decor. The beds were comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was almost a luxury. The pools, hot tubs, and lazy rivers were all great and the location couldn't be beat - only a mile away from shopping and less than 5 miles away from any type of cuisine you could imagine to eat when dining out. Now the not so good - the breakfast buffet does not have very many options and is grossly overpriced for what it offers. Yes, there is an omelet / waffle station, but it was very difficult to get the attention of the person doing the cooking and he seemed irritated when asked to actually make something. The maintenance person called us to tell us that the master shower had an issue with a broken handheld shower hose, which he would fix while we were here, but we didn't see him after that during our 5 day stay because the part had to be ordered and it was a holiday weekend. The kitchen is well stocked with everything except cleaning supplies and there is no housekeeping, so we had to buy our own dishwashing liquid to do dishes, paper towels, and scrubbies to be able to hand wash dishes. They only provided a single kitchen trash bag and a single dishwasher pod as well as one kitchen washrage and one kitchen towel. When we called down to the front desk to have someone bring us more, it took 2 phone calls before someone came and dropped them off. All in all, the stay was relaxing and wonderful with only minor inconveniences. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay on the beach with all of the comforts of home. The owners of this condo are to be commended on how well they decorated and stocked it.

My cousin's father is buying a condo there. Their closing on the 30th got cancelled and they were not sure when the new date would be. I called the resort this morning to cancel and was informed that they would keep 15% of my deposit for cancelling outside of the two weeks. This may have been in the fine print somewhere, but keeping approximately $108.00 for absolutely nothing is borderline theft. I have no choice but to cancel due to the pushed closing date. I have stayed all over the United States in 4- and 5-star resorts. Never have I encountered a policy like this. Rest assured, when I re-book, it will not be with Island Vista Robbery Resort. I am in Lake Mary, FL and once the condo purchase goes through, I planned on being up in Myrtle Beach two times a month. I will chalk this up as a learning experience on trying someplace new. I am part of the I Prefer, Hilton Honors, & Marriott Bonvoy programs. I will stay at the Marriott Grande Dunes again. They know how to treat guests properly.
