My three stars might be a bit misleading. To clarify, I would give finished product and day-of coordination five stars. But the process leading up to that point, for me, would get one or two stars. I hired A&BC because I absolutely love her work and it was exactly what I had envisioned for my wedding. Something intimate, beautiful, and surrounded by nature. I wanted a wedding planner so that our wedding would be as stress-free as possible. However, the most stressful thing about my wedding was the lack of communication with AB&C. I booked pretty far out, and while I was hoping to get plans made and vendors secured ASAP, I understood it was a long ways away. However, the months passed (8 month mark, 6 month mark), and I still wouldn't hear from her. I would text her, wait several days or even weeks, and she wouldn't respond. It would take several texts over the course of months to get a response from her. This didn't just happen once, it was the norm. Over the months, my family and friends urged me to quit working with her and were shocked that I wouldn't. But I trusted in her portfolio and that it would ultimately come together in the end. And it did. It was so beautiful and so special. She was so incredibly nice when we met her on our wedding day and our catered dinner was wonderful. But the lack of communication was stressful, especially for a person who likes a solid plan, like myself. I was hesitant to even leave a review, but my family and friends urged me to. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from using Catrina, rather just informing you what to expect when you do. I certainly would have liked a heads up so I could keep my expectations in check! Note: There were also some issues with final invoice, it ended up being higher than she initially told us and we were not notified or consulted about alternative options to help stay in budget. I'd recommend paying the vendors yourself rather than opting for an all-inclusive package. read more

Katrina is able to offer different options according to budget and no matter what you choose you will get high quality, beautiful work. I'd trust her with any event at any given time. You could tell she is intuitive, creative, and takes pride in what she does and so she will not produce anything that isn't outstanding. Something I found special and unique is that she will forage some flowers and greenery to help with costs as an option. My wedding was very small but she really could take on any sized wedding. I wasn't sure what look I was going for but I didn't worry because I was certain she was going to pull anything off nicely. The outcome was phenomenal. Elegant, rustic, and timeless. What you get is a work of art. I hired her solely for rentals/decor but she was extremely helpful with vendor recommendations and even location recommendations all throughout my planning. Really putting the "beyond" in Above and Beyond with that! lol! I wanted to also give a shoutout to her partner who was there to help. Such kind women I'll forever associate with the beautiful redwood forest of the PNW. read more

Unprofessional actions in my personal opinion. Had an intial meeting and then was blocked when deciding to go forward with different company. no harsh or ill words exchanged simply a thank you I am going with someone else and then no response I was then just blocked from using services in future or seeing there buisness page all together. I truly did like this company and wanted to use them in the future as the reason I couldn't hire them is they only had one date available which didn't work with our scheduling but this kind of behavior in my opinion was improfessional. Anyhow maybe in the future social Media can be managed better. read more

Could not recommend Above & Beyond Creations enough! Catrina & her team made our wedding unforgettable, and were extremely helpful as weather concerns came up to make necessary adjustments. They went so far as to spend countless hours adding greens to make our tent feel like an outdoor space for our outdoor wedding during the worst snow/rain the area had experienced in over 30 years. Catrina was amazing for my small wedding in Redway CA. I live in Orange County currently but am from Humboldt. We decided to have our wedding at a family cabin in Redway and Catrina was a dream. From taking the time to walk the property, provide her suggestions, ideas, to listening to what I envisioned/wanted. She made time to take calls with me whenever I had questions or concerns throughout the planning process. When wedding week rolled around Catrina and her team were awesome! They were working long days, she organized the arrival of all vendors, kept us informed, and made pivota when problems arises so easily. One thing I loved is that Catrina recommended most of our vendors in the area which was amazing because she knew exactly how each one operated and what they would want. When wedding day came they handled everything, and I think the best sign of a great coordinator is that the groom & all guests said nothing went wrong, it was amazing! Which means if things did go wrong (as they can on wedding days lol) her team handled it and a way that no one noticed! Which is exactly what you want. The design of the event was beautiful and everything we hoped for. I would recommend Catrina to anyone! One tip for future brides is remember your coordinator has events every single weekend from Thursday-Monday they are busy giving their whole heart to events so be patient for responses when you have questions! We hired her two years ago to take on our wedding of 600 people and she pulled it off like it was nothing! She turned my dream of a vintage bohemian redwood grove wedding into a real life fairytale. She took so many of my ideas and ran with them turning them into something so dreamy and beautiful way beyond anything I could of ever imagined, I could really feel how personal and thoughtful every little detail was she put into the event which made our special day even more magical. ABOVE AND BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL I'm absolutely shocked by the lack of professionalism from Catrina at A & B Creations. It took over a week for her to get back to me, when we finally had a phone conversation she took 12 of the 13 mins we spoke to tell me all about her personal life. It was so bizarre I actually thought she might have been drinking. After I heard about all of her other brides and her sick friend and her kids etc etc etc we finally made a plan for her to come see my venue a week later. She never asked me for any details nor did she answer any of my questions about her business. I never heard back from her and I honestly wasn't surprised at all when she just NEVER SHOWED UP. I found childcare, my parents, maid of honor, fiancé and I were all waiting. She ignored my calls and when she FINALLY answered she said "oops I'm human, I thought I told you my car broke down four days ago" when in reality she had not put any effort into getting in touch despite having all of our contact information. Catrina was rude, offered zero solutions or real apology despite completely standing up 5 people (who all made special arrangements to be available) and just continued to whine about everything that is on her plate, detailing drama in other peoples weddings. If just scheduling an initial meeting was this difficult I would hate to see what being one of her clients would actually be like. It honestly would have been comical if it weren't so annoying. Really disappointed but honestly relieved she won't be able to mess up our wedding day! What a weird experience, certainly not what I would want for my wedding. There are lots of other local options we have already explored, we'd advise you save yourself from letting this incredibly disorganized woman complicate your wedding planning! *seems petty to even merit this with a response cause it's so dumb in the first place but I guess that's where we are so.. Edited to add that as an event co-ordinator, one should be able to keep a track of communications sent and unsent. Even if you thought you had sent a text about your car, you should have followed through when you got no response *because you never actually sent anything*. I explained during our phone conversation that I would have childcare and who would be there, I am not surprised that you forgot. The "unscheduled phone call" I made was only once you had failed to show up when we had agreed on and I was standing around wondering if you were coming. I was very understanding about your inability to call me at times you had promised to before because yes, life is crazy. Completely standing up a potential client is bizarre, unprofessional and inconsiderate. I would have been totally fine with rescheduling for another time if you had even called the morning of, no problem! Instead you were scattered, defensive and totally unprofessional. The whole experience made me cringe and I'm really disappointed in the way you handled the situation as a "professional". I'm always here for solutions and compromise but there was none of that in reality. The only "threat" made was to make sure to spread the word about how weird this business is, and you'd be hard pressed to call that "threat".
