Fortunately, John is located in High Point, which is a short trip for me. I found and booked John on Booksy and arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. Barber Edge is located in a house facing Green Street and has plenty of parking in the back. John is a great guy and I especially enjoyed the conversation. He is incredibly detail oriented and asked me questions about my hair style and skin care regimen that I quite honestly had never given much thought. On top of the great cut and shave, I learned a lot as John had some great advice and recommendations. Not in a salesy way, mind you, but in a way where you can tell that John genuinely cares about his clients. I left Barber Edge looking great and feeling much better than when I walked in. Highly recommend John to anyone in the High Point or greater Triad area looking for a great barber!

Randy left me unimpressed with this establishment, despite it being a local hot spot. You know a…read morebarbershop does well when it's a favorite for local police, but I left this business only to go finder another barbershop and fix the haircut I received. Since I'm a fan of tapers, I was ready to let this one go and just chalk it up to Randy's hair cutting to be of a different style... But I requested a shave as well, something which I heavily regret. After using a razor to give me a clean shave, Randy then followed with an electric razor for about 15 minutes. He applied a shaving balm and repeatedly went over the same areas, resulting in visibly irritated skin. He left burns all across my face but the worst was above and below my lips. I've attached a picture to show this. Despite the poor experience, I may have returned for a second chance if Randy at least showed some friendliness or hospitality while I was there... But not only was there no attempt at conversation, inquiry of what brought me to their establishment, etc... there wasn't even an introduction. The only reason I know Randy's name is because others addressed him. I paid $40 on this visit ($38 haircut and shave, $2 tip).

He fosters a very relaxed atmosphere in the shop with lively conversation, and even though there is often a wait involved, nobody seems to mind. When shops were closed with COVID, myself and others I knew opted to wait until he was open rather than shop around. When he was out with personal health issues, I was happy to keep visiting the shop to see Chuck (meet him on Fridays!) and happy to know the shop remained in business. The prices are very reasonable for the current market ($12 for a cut), and that includes a hot neck shave too. If you're coming here to be in and out in 20 minutes, this isn't your jam. I found Candace several months back on the Booksy app while looking for another local barber that a friend had recommended. If you're used to getting a five minute in-and-our Sport Clips cut, you're really in for a treat. From the cut, to the beard trim, straight razor shaping, to the hot and cold facial towels if you're a beard man, Candace legitimately pulls out all the stops. I seriously cannot recommend Candace enough.
