She also gives great prenatal massages! Once I went into labor, I was in constant contact with her that day up until we were ready for her to come and meet us at the hospital. I ended up having a complicated and scary delivery. Everything worked out luckily in the end. Amandine was there every step of the way to lend a hand and comfort us during the process. She also is great at helping you relax and breathe and a great coach during the pushing stage. Having a doula as an extra partner in the process really helped my husband focus on me and the process too, as having her there took a lot of stress off him. For postpartum services, she was available once we were all at home to help both during the daytime and at night. This is super helpful when you are trying to recover and just need that extra nap and extra set of hands to help with laundry, dishes, small errands, etc. She also is so gentle and experienced with babies. I highly recommend Amandine if you are looking for a birthing and/or postpartum doula!

We ended up choosing an elective c-section for a variety of reasons, including several medical risk factors that were more likely to result in a c-section if we had agreed to an induction, and Andrea was incredibly patient and helpful in talking with us as we considered our options in consultation with our midwife team. She never told us what to do (she was very respectful of our agency and our medical team's expertise), but she was there every step of the way to support us and help us reach our own decisions and to then build a birth plan that reflected our preferences. And she helped us to better understand and prepare for what to expect both during birth and afterward, so we were well informed when making decisions. I really appreciated having Andrea by my side in the OR; it was reassuring to have her right by my head, talking us through what was happening. In addition to that, the most valuable things Andrea did were: (1) stay with my husband in pre-op while I was getting prepped for surgery in the OR, so he was as calm as possible during that scary time, and (2) talk with and encourage us both before and after birth, as first-time parents -- boosting our confidence and pointing us to other helpful resources. The one on one sessions were broken into two 2 hour sessions and she came to our home for only $50 more than the group Saturday all day class. She gave us a very detailed booklet that answers almost any question you may have and gave a very thorough presentation on labor/birth/newborn care/post partum care. If you're pregnant, your social media is probably flooded with different advice etc. and overwhelming you. She cleared up a lot of questions for me and made me feel a whole lot better. The first issue I noticed was I had to kindly bug her to send me an updated contract. The contract she sent had blanks where the compensation request should go and I asked her twice to send me a contract with the money and deposit amounts listed on the contract. At first, she suggested I put them in myself. As a business owner myself, I had to ask that she treat me as a client and resend the contract with appropriate amounts. She apologized saying she's a little more relaxed and sent me an updated contract right after that. Then at 28 weeks pregnant, (3 months till delivery) I got an email from her, telling me she was going back to school and if I had my baby on a weekend she would be able to attend but otherwise, she would need to cancel and recommend someone else. It was strange since she told me this shocking news in an email thread that was on another subject, instead of labeling the email something that would catch my eye. To further matters. I had told her I would be incredibly busy during that time and delivering the baby with no other family members present besides my husband. Her email and late cancellation left me sad, a bit frustrated and in a whirlwind to find another Doula so late in the game.

At the time, I was traveling the county with my husband and 3 kids full time in an RV and knew that I'd be in the Nashville area when I'd be close to my due date. Maggie agreed to take me on at around 27 weeks when so many other midwifes backed out because of my different living situation. An RV birth wasn't easy, but Maggie was so wonderful and positive throughout the entire experience. I didn't end up getting my water birth as I had planned; as RV water heaters just don't cut it, but Maggie and Chelsea made me feel calm and very comfortable. They're a fantastic team!! Heidi is the best of the best!…read more In our meetings prior to labor and delivery, she was easy to talk to and very supportive of my decisions and natural birthing goals. Heidi allowed me to share with her some of the trauma that I had from my first birth and prepared me for what to expect the second time with a Doula and being able to make informed decisions. The resources she shared with me (evidenced based articles, list of what to pack, how to cope with pain, Bible verses, etc.) all helped to prepare me mentally, physically and even spiritually for my upcoming "marathon". And once that "marathon" arrived, she was on point with everything, including her wisdom of when I should leave for the hospital. Thank goodness for that because my labor progressed very quickly! Once at the hospital, Heidi really orchestrated and worked in unison with my Midwife and my other support people. She kindly instructed my Mother and Husband how they could help and even could tell my water was about to break and warned the staff so I didn't make a complete mess of the room (It was in fact Christmas Eve, so one less thing to clean up was an added plus.) Heidi coached me through every step of the way and said just the right thing to motivate and comfort me to keep going. My husband held my hand and was by my side, while Heidi helped with technique to ease pain and her words were exactly what I needed to hear to stay strong. In short, Heidi was an answer to prayer. I highly recommend her to anyone expecting, no matter if it's un-medicated, medicated or a planned C-section.
