Brenda Jones Real Estate Group - KW Vermont

I attempted to work with this real estate group when looking at homes in Vermont (we live right…read moreover the NY boarder). The group had come highly recommended by friends who had worked with them in the past and based on reviews we've read online. However we did not have a great experience...really no experience at all, considering we attempted to contact this group more than 3 times over the course of 12 days without a single return email or return phone call. I don't understand how a locally owned business who has such great reviews, don't have the professional courtesy to return emails or phone calls. I won't be recommending them to others despite the positive reviews I've heard from others. It's a shame they couldn't take the time to call me back and work with me on purchasing my first home. Their loss!

We relocated to Bennington, VT from Ann Arbor, MI a few days ago - not an easy move since we both…read morework full time and have two dogs and a cat. We contacted Brenda Jones' office early on and began working with her staff, specifically Max. He was incredibly helpful from day one: answering questions about properties and neighborhoods (things have changed since we last lived here in 2007), looking for listings he thought we would like, and pulling all sorts of information. Once it was time to come and look we worked with Penny who was phenomenal and put up with massive house-hunting marathons. We could only get to town for two days the first time and one the second - that's a LOT of houses to pack into a very short time. Penny was quick to see what each of us liked (Kris and I have very different tastes) and had a knack for vision - she could take something he might like more but point out simple things we could change to suit my tastes more. She also knew so much about neighborhoods, and was quick to point things out we might have missed or not known. Despite the stress of the move (moving for a great reason but long distance moves are HARD), we felt like we were searching with a friend. Penny was funny, friendly, and seemed to genuinely enjoy showing Kris and I, and our friend, Kate, around town. She also was able to put up with my ridiculous sense of smell ("Someone has smoked in this house!" was my mantra). We placed an offer on a house I loved but the inspection was telling and we pulled - the whole office was understanding and didn't freak out when we decided it wasn't a safe investment. They also helped arrange a third day of looking (we could only get to town in the morning and had to leave that afternoon... whoah) when we found the house I'm currently writing this review from. Brenda Jones wasn't involved in the initial stage but once the offer was made she handled the nitty gritty. She came to the final walk through and came to the closing. Note for out of state people who aren't familiar with/have never been to Vermont be prepared... things here are far more laid back. I got anxious a few times because my east coast/high strung/type A personality didn't always feel comfortable with the laid back vibe but it's just Vermont. You'll get used to it :)

STAY. FAR AWAY! I…read morecharacterize both the professionalism and ethics of TPW Realty as, at best, non-existent. Elliot, the person who 'managed' the house I rented, lied month after month, from small things to big things, like it was running through his veins. It was extraordinary. At no point have they met the terms of my lease, a lease I drove across country for. When I got to the house after 7 days of driving? No screens and no woodstove. This is after I spent $2000 on wood. Rodent infestation, they never sent anyone. Bathtubs don't work, handle it on your own. More than two plumbers then refused to come, informing me that TPW Realty doesn't pay their bills. Ant infestation? Too bad for you. The burners on the stove don't work. They haven't been fixed. To boot? They included a 1500 small dog deposit on an uninsulated cabin that is falling down. The showers has holes! Why are they charging that when every other house, much nicer than theirs, charges at most 150 per animal? So that they can keep it and say there was 'damage'. I took videos of the house when I got here, just in case they were going to try to steal my deposit by saying I had done damage to the house. I did nothing but upgrade their house for them while paying full rent. After repeatedly telling me that I could renew the lease, I sunk 3k at least into the garden, 2k into custom shades, bottom deep freeze and a sofa to go with the house. I both called and texted Paul, the owner, several times without any response at all. Stay away. I am in the process of interviewing lawyers! I You will be too. Not sure how they've survived this long. I think because the homeowners don't realize what's happening. At all. UPDATE: Lawyer hired! Unbelievable. Most of vermont is amazing. but you do have pockets of crap like these people/company.
