Back in June, I had a horrible biking accident where I broke 5 bones in my body. Two of those bones were connected to my elbow which really impacted my quality of life going forward. After a surgery, manipulation, steel plate, and seven screws later, things were looking pretty grim until going to Able Hands. My arm would not stretch straight or bend to my body after my surgery. All of the arm muscles needed to be retrained and stretched in order for everything to work again. Upon arriving to the Old Bridge office, I met with two of the therapists at the facility, Minette and Samantha. After being evaluated, the prognosis of my healing did not look very good. Minette did tell me you have a very bad injury, but we will help getting you back to feeling better again. As months went on - Samantha, Minette, and Shatish worked on my arm and hand with stretching, massage, heat, and exercising. My range of motion and straightening of my arm was getting better weekly. The techniques the therapists used were not painful or forceful in anyway, at least for me. After the four months of therapy, my arm has improved so much. I could not have done it without the staff at Able Hands. Joanne and Kim who are the billing people were awesome to talk to with every time I had a visit scheduled. Everyone made my visits great. I was treated as family every time I had an appointment. Not only is the staff at the Old Bridge office very welcoming, they are also very knowledgeable and professional. Able Hands improved my mobility from nothing to now being able to do the things that I did before. I highly recommend anyone having hand or arm issues to reach out to the office and schedule an appointment immediately. If the staff were able to fix my arm, I cannot see how they would have an issue fixing any ailments that are bothering or life altering to anyone. Just recently graduating from the office I have mixed emotions. I am happy feeling better and now my TWO arms allow me to putting on my cape and flying on to greener pastures, but on the other hand, I will miss seeing everyone and conversing as we did. I suffer from Osteoarthritis and was referred to Able Hands by my orthopedic doctor. He determined that surgery was not an option and therapy would be the most beneficial. He handed me a list of several choices for therapy and highly recommended Able Hands. I've always hated going to therapy getting 5 minutes of the therapist attention and the balance of time doing exercises that never seem to help. Well, that changed when I was treated at Able Hands, I was evaluated by both owners Shirish and Minette and introduced to the whole staff. I immediately recognized their professionalism and knowledge answering all my questions from insurance to various treatments. When I started my finger joints were very stiff and painful, I could hardly hold a golf club. Each week the treatment was carefully monitored and adjusted based on my progress. In the 12 weeks I was treated I received several splints that were custom fitted and adjusted based on my progress. My therapist Sam was a perfectionist and highly skilled with the custom fittings. Certified Hand Therapists Chaya, Minette, Shirish & Mahalia of Able Hands (with offices in Old Bridge, Freehold and Edison) are highly skilled, proactive, professional and proven experts in the field of hand therapy. I suffered a complex compound fracture and crush to my hand. With this team, I was able to reach the full potential of recovery for my injury. Chaya specifically was my case manager. She would meet me on weekends, holidays, whatever it took, to help me. She was always in contact and available to answer any questions (even after hours), guiding me through a very stressful and difficult time and encouraging me to never give up. She was consistently current with the latest and most effective approaches to treatment, manipulation, CPM, splinting, etc. Her positive attitude was evident with every patient under her expert care. I highly recommend this Occupational Therapy company. They take your care & progress more seriously than they do "business, business, business". You're not a paycheck to them, they care about you. I needed to see an occupational therapist, a specific "Hand Therapist" with my surgery. Minette was referred to me quite highly. She DID NOT FALL SHORT OF MY EXPECTATIONS. She made special arrangements to be in on a Sunday so she & Sharesh could see me. There was a time limit because of the type of injury/surgery, therapy had to be started immediately. They came in, on a Sunday and evaluated, made a splint, custom for my hand and scheduled my appointments for that week! No matter what, they kept me informed and progressed my therapy to a permanent positive condition. Contact them. Hand Therapists go to school quite a bit longer than ordinary PT's. The intricacy of the small bone structures & nerve clusters, they need additional training, so finding one is important, finding a GOOD ONE is more important. I found that GOOD ONE! I was in need of a trustworthy hand rehabilitation facility as I was recovering from a wrist/ hand surgery during the COVID pandemic when I luckily found Able Hands was taking on new patients. At a time when so many businesses and medical professionals were not available, Minette Godbole was working around the clock to provide me with excellent treatment and care. In just a few sessions with Minette, I saw immediate improvement in my range of motion, dexterity, strength, and my prognosis of my repaired wrist. The facility is filled with the most up-to-date technology, plenty of equipment for exercises and ample space for multiple patients. At a time of a global pandemic, where cleaning and distancing is of extra emphasis, the staff and therapists are diligent to provide a completely sterile environment with facemasks and constant cleaning of all surfaces and equipment before/after use. Very caring....trained professionals! The therapists here really know their trade. I went there 13 years ago after having surgery on my wrist and thumb. Whitish, the owner was great. I had to dip my hand in paraffin wax and I was scared but he put me at ease and I did it without issue. He really took excellent care of me. In Dec 2016 I had surgery on a finger and needed therapy again. I told my surgeon i was only going to Able Hands. I trusted them. I showed up one night without an appointment and met Chaya. Told her the situation and made an appointment for the next night. She became my therapist and she's great! Very smart and knowledgeable. Cares and checks in to make sure you are ok each visit and during your treatment as well. She's friendly and is invested in making her patients feel better. I also worked with Mihalia, Shirish and Minette and they really all are great and care about their patients. They have 2 late nights and worked with my schedule. Very accommodating.
